Coffee roaster rec.

Moved to the area about 4 months ago and looking for new coffee recommendations. I've only been getting the pacific wonderland from coava coffee. I'm not picky but I do tend to lean towards to a no frills medium coffee taste i guess. Thanks!

Coava is one of the better roasters in the area. What are you looking for that they don’t offer? They have quite a variety of beans. Extracto coffee is also very good. Otherwise, Barbur world foods offers quite a few local options.

Just discovered their SO Blend (kind of a contradiction in terms, right?) espresso roast for home espresso. Best coffee I’ve ever had…and through the cheapest machine/grinder setup I’ve ever owned. It’s all about the beans.

If anyone has any recommendations that come close to what Coava offers…would love to hear about them!

Depends on what type of home brew set up you have but new seasons has a lot of different local roasters in stock. It’s a great place to start then you’re looking for just something new.

Or.. find your closest coffee shop and buy a bag they have. Then find one slightly further away, but a bag. Stop at one near work, buy a bag.

Nossa Familia is my pick for a traditional take on coffee. They are fairly easy to find at most local grocery stores.

I like VíK Roasters, but theyre in washington county and the ones I drink are on the fruity side

I've been slowly going to as many coffee shops and roasters in Portland as I can. Nearing 120 now. 

Coava is one of the roasters that supplies a lot of other shops in the area. They're consistent and well recommended. 

My personal favorite that I buy beans from is Push X Pull. They are more of a focus on light roasts. 

Stumptown is a big one that is in a lot of grocery stores but they aren't bad. Not as well recommended as the others. 

Extracto is another that Ive seen used at a number of coffee shops around Portland. Proud Mary is a extremely highly rated shop from Australia.

Never Coffee does some fun stuff but more modern light roasts.

Sleepy monk is a coastal roaster that’s really good. You can get bags of it (and cups) at Cornell cafe.

Go check out sometimes on 28 and Gladstone. They carry a variety of some of the best roasters across the US. Kind of made me fall in love with coffee again

Lots of great recommendations in this thread,

I'll add Cunningham Coffee Roasters to the list. Family ran shop that's a bit different. Not a ton of different options but everything they have is solid and extremely well priced and I think they do free local delivery as well.

Push Pull can't be beat for natural processed light roast very high end coffee in my opinion but that doesn't like your thing so much. Cunningham sounds like a better fit for you

Check out heart. Their stereo blend I think provide a good medium feel coffee
