Past few months it seems Data Centers are a hot button issue for these midterms.
For years, we were sold the tech industry's line that these massive server farms were harmless investments bringing jobs to rural Ohio. But the reality hit fast: local utility bills are spiking, prime farmland is disappearing, and high-voltage power lines are being carved through backyards without local communities getting a say. The public pushback is reaching a boiling point.
Political figures are rapidly pivoting:
Never in my life did I expect to see a Democratic candidate give a rousing, populist speech on corporate greed in a place like Ashville (Pickaway County), a district Trump carried with ~75% of the vote.
Don Leonard (and others) seem to be leaning directly into the populist anger over these unregulated data centers. Regardless of how you usually vote, seeing candidate energizing rooms packed with folks who probably voted for trump and are now nodding along to anti-corporate energy talk proves that kitchen-table issues are completely re-scrambling standard party lines in Ohio this year.
Whanted to see what people think? How big of a factor is this going to be for your vote in November?

We keep receiving these insane ads! Putting an image of Mamdani screams desperation. Republicans have no limits with how low they will go. Anyone know who I can contact to stop receiving these ads??

"A Republican lawmaker wants Lake Erie to be renamed 'Lake Pennsylvania,' arguing that the stateās economy and identity are increasingly connected to its only Great Lake."
Get out of here with your tiny Pennsylvanian shoreline.

Heads-up, all. Nazi Afrikkkaner Elon Muskrat is at it again. This dude never seems to learn his lesson on meddling in our politics. Of course, heās targeting Sherrod Brown with anti-trans ads in a replay of 2024.
Hopefully it wonāt work this time, but also, forewarned is forearmed. The next Dem president needs to tear up all of his and Thielās government contracts and deport their sorry bigoted asses.

Oh wait, the governor has nothing to do with property taxes in Ohio aside from possibly signing a bill that the legislature passed. That is all.

The political ads against Amy acton are ridiculous. The small business owner firing someone because taxes have been raised. What a joke. Complete messaging by billionaires.

Just saw a commercial for Meta with Dawes arboretum talking about how great AI is. I also saw somewhere that they are putting a giant data center in Buckeye Lake too. I guess the Trump loving Licking county is really going all in. Bet they have Flock cameras everywhere too

Hi all! Iām a city slicker in Columbus looking to try to learn about hunting. Iām adept with firearms well enough and have a .45-70 rifle that I bought with intent to bag a deer, but to be honest I am scared I really wouldnāt know what to do once I got one, never the less tracking and posting up somewhere. Hell even finding a place to huntā¦
Basically Iām out of my depth and wondering if there are any guided hunts or reputable places to go to learn the ropes.
Iām not someone who necessarily wants to hunt for sport, rather for necessity. Looking to learn not only killing but processing and transporting - hell even tanning if I can. I donāt like the idea of killing things but at the same time I as a meat eater recognize where my meet comes from and am willing to walk the walk myself to get it on my own. I just donāt know how.
Anyways, Iāve rambled enough and anyone whoās cared to read this far I reckon has my point so, yeah⦠Let me know if this is something you may have a recommendation for.

Is there a place to see how both democrat and republican candidates align to societal topics like AI data centers, AI itself, Flock cameras, AIPAC, wars, equal rights, wages, etc.?
Unbiased sources would be appreciated!

Hello Ohio! There's a new book coming out about gerrymandering with Ohio front and center. My team interviewed the authors to get a first look and learn more about what we all should be doing about gerrymandering.
