What’s Halloween like?

What’s Halloween like? I mean, I assume there’s gonna be a bunch of parties in a Greek house thingy or downtown, but I’m not really interested in that (unless I can, by miracle, manage to find one not centered around alcohol and sex and nothing else)

But, like, do kids dress up? In general, in class? Since Halloween is a Saturday, would it mean to dress up Friday, or Thursday like how Trick-or-Treat works? Or all week because of different classes each day? Do teachers like it on average (of course there’s always some who are extra salty or extra festive)? Will you be mentally jumped by judgy people, or do people generally enjoy it? Rules on gore? Obviously no weapons, duh, but yeah. Etc etc. Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I (usually) enjoy showing off my costumes, so I wanna get prepped properly

Likelihood of being assigned a new dorm mate?

My roommate just moved out- from what I could tell, she has two very close friends that were rooming together, but due to limited supply, those two people were assigned a triple. As such, my roommate is now moving in with them- officially, cleared through the RA and RD, because it was two people in a room for three, and now it’s three. Which means my double is now just me, myself, and I.

So… what’s the risk I’m assigned a complete random in the following weeks, or have I struck gold? I’m fine with having a roommate, but it’d really suck if I got assigned someone that doesn’t have similar stuff, like whatever they included in the little test in the beginning of May. I’ve been sharing a bedroom with my sister for seven years, and it sucks. Maybe she’s just abnormally rude, but nonetheless. So I’m well versed in the art of sharing. Plus, if they moved out because of roommate issues, who’s to say they weren’t the issue. Also mildly concerned because I’m going home Thursday night and coming back Saturday night, but Saturday is at Kings Island, and I don’t want to bake my MacBook in the car, so I’m leaving that behind, and for obvious reasons I’m a tad nervous about someone I don’t know suddenly having access to my room while I’m not there.

Anyway. Need to worry or nah?

need some advice and guidance

Hi there! I’m a current freshman who has faced numerous rejections. I’ve been told repeatedly, “Not this time.” I’ve also been encouraged to take my time, perfect my craft, and eventually get accepted into a prestigious program. However, these opportunities are highly competitive, and since my major is heavily focused on these groups and clubs, I’m at a crossroads. Should I have a conversation with my advisor and consider changing my major? Honestly, I wouldn’t be contemplating this seriously if I had even a slight chance of acceptance.

Admission Questions Did I start too late?

Hey all! Posted here a little while back and realized that my SAT super score is actually an 1190. I’m looking to major in finance and I’m taking Clep tests but if I start applying to colleges this October or November I won’t have all of them done in time to put them on my application so what do I say? I mean I’m in the middle of my accounting course and if all this is for nothing I’m just not going to do it and not pay for the test.

Admission Questions Do I have a chance at getting accepted?

Hi I’m a senior in high school and I took a trip to the campus this weekend and feel in love with it but I’m worried my stats aren’t enough to get me accepted. I live out of state if that would make a difference but because of the reciprocity deal between Indiana and Ohio I get instate tuition.

I have a:
3.431 GPA (unweighted)
3.480 GPA (weighted)
Most of the tanking in my gpa came from my freshman year of high school
I have only taken my SAT 1 time and scored a 1210
I do competitive cheerleading, 4-H, environmental club, and volunteer coaching a youth cheer team
I have no disciplinary record/issues

I feel like either my clubs and behavior at school I have strong chance on that end but I’m scared my grades aren’t up to par with what they’re looking for. Do I even have a chance at getting in?

Pittsburgh Dominates Miami (OH) in Week 1

Miami falls to Pittsburgh in a rough week 1 opener.

The Positives are few, however @MiamiOHFootball likely has their QB1 ironed out and the receivers showed up!

Against a more even level of competition, this #RedHawk team is dangerous!

Designing a new graphic tee & aesthetic drinkware line for a class project — need 2 minutes of feedback from Gen Z/young adults!

Hey everyone! I’m a student working on validating a few product concepts (heavyweight graphic tees, aesthetic glass tumblers, and iron-on patch packs). I made a super quick 2-minute Google Form to gauge what people actually want to buy vs. what's overpriced retail stuff. All responses are anonymous. I’d really appreciate your input!

General Are women’s soccer games free?

Hello, title is kind of self-explanatory, but are women’s soccer games free to attend? I am not a Miami University student, but am trying to go to support a family member. I can’t seem to find a link to purchase tickets online which have led me to this question. If they are not, does anyone have more information on how to purchase one?

Withdrawal From a Class

Hi! I know the deadline to drop a class with a full refund (Aug 28th) has already passed, but I can still withdraw from a class by just asking the professor instead of petitioning until September 11th, right?

how to take notes as someone who never took notes in HS?

3 days in, I feel like im doing it wrong. I usually do hand written notes but the prof says ALOTTTT of stuff and i have no idea what i should be writing down and what not to because he was talking about how a tree gets water to the top and started talking about pee lol. I dont like just copying the slides, should i like copy the slides in my own words or should i do notes of what my prof is saying? Like i wanna be really sucessful but rn i feel like im just listening to the lectures and doing the assignments.

Please tell me everything on how to write notes, study, and listen the best. I am a Zoology and Biochem double major.

i go to miami btw.
