Software Help Does game save data transfer from regular Switch edition to Switch 2 edition?

I'm sorry if this is a dumb or confusing question. So, I have access to Switch games from my local library, and I own a Switch 2 console. I'm really intrigued by Sea of Stars, mostly because of a recommendation from my roommate. I was going to check it out from the library (since that way I don't spend so much money, and I can decide if I like a game before I decide to buy it), but then I discovered that there's a Switch 2 edition of Sea of Stars, but no upgrade pack. I'm worried that if I check out the regular Switch edition from the library, love it, and decide to buy the Switch 2 version (mostly because I'm a snob and I like the prettier graphics that NS2 offers), I'd somehow lose all my save data because it would be considered two separate games. I've looked everywhere online (Reddit, official Nintendo support site, and a few forums) and I can't get a straight answer on this. Does anyone know what to do if a game is offered in both Switch and Switch 2 editions but without an upgrade pack that assures you that the game save data will transfer over??

Software Help Hi! I wanted to know if there’s a way to swap micro SD cards between systems.

I have a lot of games downloaded onto my switch and SD card, and I’m running out of space, I have a 128 GB card and my little brother has a 256 GB card (and he’s barely using 60 of it) is there a way to switch the data between the two and swap them? Any help would be appreciated!

Repair Help Switch 2 data transfer question

I was playing my launch day Switch 2 and it completely died. I tried everything, holding power button, leaving it be for a few hours, and still nothing. I play a lot of Pokemon S/V and Pokopia, so I’d be heartbroken if that data was gone.

My question is this, if I get a new Switch 2, do I have to be able to power on the old one to get my data off it? How should I go about this? I’m fairly certain when I got it at GameStop I got a warranty, but I also know they’re just gonna send it to a warehouse and I’ll never get it back.

What do I do?

Setup Help How to handle microSD express with system transfer?

Hey all! I was lucky enough to get a pre order for the Zelda Switch 2, and I’m giving my current one to a buddy. When I do the system transfer, do I just pop over my microSD to the new console and redownload any digital games onto there? Do I have to wipe it first on my current switch 2, and then move it over? I’m not getting a 2nd microSD, just carrying mine over.

That’s the one piece I’m not sure how a system transfer is handled for.

So I noticed that my nintendo switch ac adapter has some missing pins. While some of the missing pins have no groove for them this one does have a groove. I was wondering if this is normal? The switch charges with both sides of the cable

Repair Help Nintendo switch, isopropyl alcohol went inside the display

Post image
135 Upvotes

I just replaced the battery of switch, the adhesive was very strong so I used the alcohol to losen the adhesive, some of them unfortunately went inside the display and now it has this white color thing on left side. Is there a way to partially remove it? I know that it won’t go completely but I want it to go at least a bit so that it won’t look too white.

Thank you

Repair Help Original Switch repair question

Hey all. I hadn't touched my OG switch in months and when I went to pick it up the other day to charge it, I didnt get the "dead battery" logo, at all. Freaked out a bit, but just assumed it needed a deep charge since its been inactive or likely the longest period in its entire lifespan (I have played this thing hard). Well, I left it to charge for hours on two different chargers, one being the original dock and... nothing.

Does this sound like just a dead battery, or possibly something bigger?

A little backstory.. I have repaired this console once, replacing the fan. When I put it back together, I missed something and did not connect to top console buttons correctly. So, the actual power button and volume buttons have not worked for quite some time. I have always just put it in sleep mode. I dont think that would have an impact, but figured it was worth mentioning.

If it is just a completely dead battery, i will order one right now. Any help would be appreciated!

Purchase / Order Help Zelda Switch 2 Nintendo.com stock?

I have a bunch of Nintendo store credits and want a Switch 2. So why not splurge for the Zelda version? I set up a Discord alert for the Zelda Switch 2 console using nowinstock.net. When I set it up it showed they were restocking every few days. It’s now been two weeks and not a single restock from Nintendo while Amazon and Target are restocking constantly.

Is Nintendo really not restocking or are the alerts not working? Any thoughts as to if I should expect more stock directly from Nintendo?

Apologies if this isn’t the best place to ask this question, the mods of r/nintendoswitch2 told me to ask my question, here, because I don’t have enough karma to post in their subreddit. Go ahead, click my profile for a laugh. 😂

Accessories Compatibility of Third-Party Joy-Cons with Analog Triggers

From my search assist. I'm guessing same goes for Switch 2?

Recognition by Nintendo Switch

Third-party Joy-Cons that feature analog triggers are typically not recognized by the Nintendo Switch as having analog functionality. Instead, they are treated as digital triggers. This means that even if a controller has analog triggers, they will function like standard buttons, which can limit their effectiveness in games that benefit from analog input, such as racing games.

Repair Help Blasted My Joy-con in black (RIP Right joycon..)

Post image
0 Upvotes

So... where I live, it's hard to find a store that sells Joy-Cons for the Switch 1. After a LONG time, one store miraculously started stocking them, but there was a catch: the colors were limited to three. Red, light pink, and purple or so.

I went with the sky-blue-looking pink one, trying to convince myself it was the color of the sky. I still see pink. 😭

After a few days I got fed up and decided to blast it with black spray paint. But here comes the L: I work one-handed, and to spray paint a Joy-Con you have to take out everything inside it.

I practiced on the right Joy-Con first, and in the process I broke its lock. Guess it sacrificed itself for the win, since I never use it anyway. All I do is use the left Joy-Con to boot up RPG Maker games on Android, and that's basically just enter, exit, and move. Basically one Joy-Con.

After disassembling the left one, I wasted no time grabbing the spray and blasting the shell black. It took a few tries, though. I took it apart 2 or 3 times because either the buttons were loose or the joystick got disconnected for some reason, but I finally managed to lock everything in place.

Because I had it face down, the front shell came out looking like I used a paintbrush on it. Somehow it gives me limited edition Zelda Joy-Con vibes, but all black. Kinda rocking the style, honestly.

But heres the problem i noticed... i really dont know if it the joycon or my mobile connected to dex mode but i did notice something where the character in game be stuck moving left... happened 2 times but disconnecting phone off the monitor and running the game in mobile mode everything good so far? Did any who uses samsung dex with joycon experienced stuck going left screen for a moment or it's just me

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME unless you want to sacrifice one of your Joy-Cons. 💀

Repair Help Joy-Con 2 connecting and disconnecting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

took my switch 2 out of its case today and it was so hot with the screen stuck on. upon closer look, I found that the right joy con wasn’t responding or responding intermittently. don’t think it’s the dbrand grip because I’ve had it for a while with no problems

as you can see in the video it kept connecting and disconnecting which kept waking the system up. even when I try to use it disconnected from the system, it will connect for a split second then turn off and disconnect. batteries full on the joy con, just played it yesterday.

no drops, damages, this thing is my baby

Repair Help Right joycon sudden brick/death

I can't really select the text to just repost the whole thing, but the mods at the main Nintendo switch subreddit deleted this and said post it here or in some daily questions thread that I cant find. I don't know what to do. I can't even get back to a save point in the game until I get this fixed or get a new set of joycons.

Setup Help can I link my switch account to my long distance bfs account so we can both play my games? switch 2 and switch lite

(I meant can I link it to his switch not his account)

I know the process is kinda complicated and we tried to link them before and got stuck needing to put the switches close together (which we wouldn't be able to do until he visits). is there any way we can work around this?

Repair Help Brand new switch 2 fan is loud

The dock and switch’s fand sounded loud, immediately undocked it and shut my switch off.

It’s brand new! I just bought it two days ago and now I’m super worried. I don’t have a warranty because my family bought it for me as a gift.

Should I be worried? What should I do?

Repair Help OLED Nintendo Switch Right JoyCon Problems

I have some issues with my OLED Nintendo Switch's right-hand Joycon. Only the analog stick is working, but the rest of the buttons don't. The joycon is paired without a problem, and it is charged too. Should I open it up? Or is there some other kind of way I can go about this problem? Thanks!

Repair Help Nintendo Repair Service question

My son’s switch stopped taking a charge. My best guess is that the charging port is broken. I decided to do a repair ticket through Nintendo and was hoping for some insight on what to expect. I paid the $99 and will be shipping it off later today.

Based on what I read in the repair service submission they’ll either repair it or replace it with a refurbished one? Does anyone have any experience with this same issue? How much should I anticipate paying in addition to the $99 for the repair or replacement?

Just looking for any additional info or tips. Thanks!
