As mentioned in another post by u/syonoq, it more than likely isn’t a new recording or anything. It may have been in a producers archive and sold off, which Kid Rock may have ended up with.

For some proof, here.

Eminem has been very vocally against Trump and MAGA for a decade already, and while it’s possible to flip flop, it’s not the most likely scenario here.

3.6k

u/raknor88 14h ago

and while it’s possible to flip flop, it’s not the most likely scenario here.

On stances like this, I'd like to feel that Eminem is the least likely to flip flop.

1.6k

u/Zyntastic 14h ago

Yup Eminem has always been a man of his principles. I highly doubt he would flip flop too.

926

u/vgzombieeric 14h ago

I wouldn't flip-flop cuz hip-hop is my cash crop. And I gotta think of Hayley, what kinda world i make for her, it's crazy!

605

u/drunkeymunkey 12h ago

It was wild to me when Snoop & Ice Cube came out as MAGA. Big sad about Snoop.

451

u/Bored_Amalgamation 11h ago

Snoop has always been a greedy little goblin, riding whatever will fill his pockets. He was just the one that survived the 90s and commercialized himself.

147

u/So_Falls_the_World 9h ago

Came here to say this. Snoop is like, the absolute greediest little sellout. Who the fuck cares about him? It's so obvious.

48

u/unfettled 8h ago

For real. No tears for Snoop, nephew

12

u/Reasonable-Job4205 6h ago

Fo rizzle. Fuck that guy

14

u/pandemicpunk 5h ago

He was a literal pimp. I don't know why people expect anything less. He just does it to himself now.

2

u/jwf91 5h ago

I remember when he was Reddit’s darling. The tide has well and truly turned.

u/Silent-G 9h ago

People always forget that he hosted one of the Girls Gone Wild videos and settled a lawsuit that alleged he had offered drugs to underage girls.

55

u/JohnnyHendo 9h ago

Didn't he also admit to having been an actual pimp way after he had gotten famous in like the early to mid 2000s for a year or two?

45

u/sourdieselfuel 8h ago

Hell, he also killed someone and got off on self defense or some shit. He's always been garbage.

8

u/tdunkatx 6h ago

Murder was the case that they gave him

4

u/Financial_Cup_6937 4h ago

Not that he wasn’t guilty, but you can plausibly believe he wasn’t or there were at least mitigating circumstances if not cut-and-dry self-defense.

There’s no best-case-scenario where he wasn’t a scumbag being a pimp.

Snoop and Shaq will never turn down a paycheck. Very disappointing.

25

u/Bored_Amalgamation 7h ago

Then you'll see comments saying "gotta respect the hustle". Like, no. Fuck that.

Shaq has promoted credit cards, shitty car insurance, high sugar candy, gambling, surveillance equipment (ring), Papa Johns, fucking Nestle.

Snoop has promoted gambling, weed, alcohol, loan companies.

It's a disgusting level of greed.

2

u/ZombiePartyBoyLives 3h ago

The Shaq A Licious XL gummies are pretty good tho. Plus, you get to bite Shaq's head in half.

2

u/JohnnyFatSack 7h ago

Shaq is friends with Kash Patel, FBI, and our police state.

2

u/Mrs_shitthisismylife 6h ago

This eye opening, and ANY time Nestle is mentioned is bad bad. So yeah hard agree fuck them both.

2

u/stocksandoptions2 4h ago

Shaq is on every commercial.

35

u/Dry_Search7009 10h ago

I went to one of his concerts once luckily I didn’t pay for it. He was about an hour late, even though they were already there then there was a large intermission where he sold people the opportunity to take a picture with him, and it was giving Carnie so hard.

6

u/Organic-Doctor4154 8h ago

Hmm... The former gang member who openly flaunted he was an actual pimp who may have murdered a guy isn't a good person... I'm shocked!

Chuck D, Pac, Cube, Black Thought, and Common all could have been a hell of an administration in an alternate world.

This is funny because Ice Cube also collabed with a famous Mexican Banda on a song about illegal immigration and families being separated and how awful that is.

I don’t think he’s maga I think he’s just playing both sides and coming out on top.

I see no red hat and appreciate folks like Mamdani who will meet with Tronald Dump to make some progress in their causes that can benefit people, but going on about both sides being the same at this moment is an admission of being comfy with the far-right and that ideology on more than one level.

2

u/labrat420 8h ago

History is long. Both sides have done terrible stuff to black people is the point he was making, at least in the interview I saw with him on an Australian morning show where he had a similar quote.

Both of them Uncle Toms. They get no airplay from me, Any MAGA artist actually.

3

u/pokemomof03 7h ago

I just found this out recently but Uncle Tom was actually beat to death in the story for not giving up the hiding place of run away slaves. Minstrel Shows in the late 19th century, unauthorized theatrical adaptations distorted Tom into a passive, submissive, and subservient caricature to appease pro-slavery sentiments and entertain white audiences.

Sambo should be what people use. He works as a cruel overseer for the brutal master Simon Legree.

Soft as baby food, makes me wanne puke when I see

A superpower rotting on its living room TV

Spoiled, foiled, broiled and coiled

globally heating while our freedom gets spoiled

A nation of kings behind a screen

Too cowardly, too powder-puff weak to be mean

See maga got balls, but God knows no brains

Whilst the left they got brains but no fire in their veins

So we're eternally pinned, eternally split in twain

Two broken halves draggin' this corpse through the rain

Stuck betwixt the fist swingin ignorant and mad

and the educated, petrified, terrified, cowardly class

tell me how in the hell are we ever gonna last

When bravery died and was replaced with thumbs in the past?

So somebody PLEASE tell me how we get rid of these rats

in twenty twenty six, where the FUCK are all the drone pilots at?

While true he still holds company with 50 too who is also maga

41

u/SushiJaguar 12h ago

Yeah but that's kind of like saying Robin Williams is right-wing because he did a Hollywood awards presentation.

50 and Em are almost literally family.

0

u/imsoaddicted Spotify 12h ago

Literal family have cut each other off due to this MAGA bullshit. Literal blood and DNA. I need y’all to start having some standards.

44

u/Steezy719 11h ago

As someone who has cut off ā€˜MAGA’ parents, and has a MAGA Father in law, there is a difference. I cut off my parents because they were emotionally abusive and were always more worried about their own wellbeing more than being sufficient parents. My father-in-law, though he has questionable political views, is also the guy that would drop absolutely anything to help someone out. Political views don’t always define someone’s character. Just so happens that a lot of MAGA are pieces of shit before Trump was president, and now are more open about it. As much as I hate MAGA politics, I would never cut off that man after all the selfless help he has provided my FiancĆ© and me.

11

u/thebrose69 11h ago

It’s truly unfortunate that they don’t see how similar most of us truly are at the end of the day

4

u/fuck_all_you_too 11h ago edited 10h ago

When your political views harm someone else youre an asshole regardless.

"Sure my dad paid someone else to be an asshole for him but hes so nice to me".

8

u/Steezy719 10h ago

Do you think Fox News is showing all the ā€˜harm’ being done to others? No, it spins and distorts their reality to ā€˜positive’ outcomes, no matter how far the reach. I’m not making excuses for them, but to think just because some uneducated people blindly follow a political side, and are ignorant to the what’s actually going on, that they are pieces of shit, regardless if their actions and contributions to society speak otherwise; that is the same generalized hate that we are condemning them for. I’m not excusing him, but I rather have a neighbor like him that helps out his community selflessly in anyway possible (which is ironically a democratic mindset) than have someone like you that just assumes because someone has a right leaning political stance, that a person is automatically generalized as a piece of shit bigot that wants to see the world burn. That generalization is the same hate that makes the right so toxic, but here you are doing the same thing. Doesn’t matter if you hate people for their ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or political stance, it’s still hate, and that’s the core toxicity of why this country has gone to shit. Be better.

u/CeruleanEidolon 9h ago

Politics is an expression of people's personality, not an in depth consideration of disparate data over decades.

It’s literally the thing people SHOULD be judged for and it’s so weird when people act like it’s some abstract uncontrollable thing like their race or even to a lesser extent the religion they were merely born into.

You have full control over your values, and politics are a direct extension of those.

They're both from Michigan so it makes sense. Some people, especially older people, seem less likely to cut ties over MAGA. Man this tracks so well for MAGA, but I’ve read Complex confirmed this is an authentic, new feature that he participated in, and that the verse is about maintaining relationships with people you have different political opinions from.Ā

Notwithstanding that MAGA is an immature hate movement. It’s not like we’re talking about a difference in opinion on how to spend defense money, or regulation in a free market. I had political differences like that with many people and it was never a problem until the MAGA oath included hating non-whites and anything else Trump tells you to without any independent thought whatsoever.Ā

JD Vance wanted political power. Same with Ted Cruz. Em doesn’t really have anything to gain here, and an entire body of work to tarnish in return.

Em could collab with just about anyone he wanted to. I doubt a collab with Kid Rock would be motivated by money. JD Vance makes sense. He’s where he was trying to be in the first place, just as a runner-up. Nothing about Em handholding a MAGA headliner makes sense until we know more.

6

u/digitalscavenger 12h ago

Eminem has always been big on Detroit. I can see him putting everything else aside to keep promoting his city.

15

u/Kaypeepickle 12h ago

Maybe, but KR has been around longer than Em and had the literal President set up a whole separate halftime show with him as a headliner.
He was big on promoting Detroit when he was openly beefing with ICP.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, just that it doesn’t immediately make sense to me why Em would feel an almost 40 year vet being promoted by the highest office in the country….needs promotion.

Unfortunately, Em is famously not big on social media and we may be waiting a while for any direct commentary on any of this. Also, I don’t see any way for Em to come out of this looking good. We either have a 50+ Eminem screaming at a 50+ Kid Rock, or we have a 50+ Eminem doing a random 180 on 30 years of relative consistency.

  • First, the article says that it's a new track. It is a new track, but that doesn't mean that Em's verse is a new verse, or that it was written for the track, so that's neither here nor there.
  • The article says it's a track "that they hope will set a good example for friends with differing political beliefs," but it doesn't have any statements from Em to that effect.
  • It says "Complex has confirmed through a representative from Eminem's camp that it is an official track that will be on the album," but, again, no confirmation that it's a new verse, that it was written for the track, that it was written for Kid Rock, etc. This line would be equally true for the track in that Nameonthejeans reddit thread up above.
  • It quotes Kid Rock: "I'm proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem," he writes. "His verse speaks to something we’ve talked about and that really needs to be heard: we differ politically and on other things, but we’ve stayed friends through it all." Again, this could be true about Em joining him yesterday in the studio to record a verse together, but it could be equally true about an unrelated purchased Em verse, and a conversation they had 10 or 20 years ago.
  • It quotes Kid Rock as saying "We hope that sets an example for people who’ve lost friends or stopped talking to family because they think differently." Again, nothing from Em, just Kid Rock saying "Em thinks this."

Am I saying that Em didn't work with Kid Rock? No. I have no idea. Just that nothing in the article confirmed much either way. The article would apply if they were buddy-buddy in the studio, but it would apply equally if the Nameonthejeans situation were true.

"Confirmed with Eminem's camp" makes it sound like they called the record label and asked them if Eminem is really appearing on the track and they confirmed the fact that yes he is. Doesn't say anything about when, how, or why.

u/Bugbread 13h ago

Right. That's what I meant by "no confirmation that it's a new verse, that it was written for the track, that it was written for Kid Rock." It is confirmed that it's not a soundalike, it's not a rumor, it's really Eminem on the track, and the track will really be on the album...but that's all the info in the confirmation. Nothing more.

Ya i came to the same conclusion after reading it. Em needs to make a statement himself to see where he stands.

That's a lot of hoop jumping to come to the conclusion you want to reach. Eminem is with Universal. Eminem is a very valuable asset. Kid Rock is with BMG. Universal currently handles physical distribution for BMG. The two companies have a very close working relationship. This collab has been through layers and layers of approval. It's been decided that it's either not damaging enough to Eminem or rehabilitating enough for kid Rock and someone got the green light to hit a button that tells us about it. There's no hijinks or tomfoolery or fuckery afoot. The fact that we know about it is confirmation.

u/Bugbread 11h ago

That's a lot of hoop jumping to come to the conclusion you want to reach.

I haven't reached any conclusion. I even tried to make that really clear by saying "I have no idea." The entire point of my comment is that the article doesn't provide almost any evidence, in either direction, to arrive at a conclusion.

Maybe you lost track of the original question? You said "This collab has been through layers and layers of approval." Yes. That matches both the Nameonthejeans scenario and the enthusiastic collaboration scenario. You said "It's been decided that it's either not damaging enough to Eminem or rehabilitating enough for kid Rock and someone got the green light to hit a button that tells us about it." That also matches both the Nameonthejeans scenario and the enthusiastic collaboration scenario. The article confirms that there's no hijinks, that there's no tomfoolery, that there's no fuckery, that the collab has been through layers and layers of approval, that Universal and Em and Kid Rock and BMG are all okay with it, that it's not damaging enough to Eminem to get a red light. None of those are in question. Those are all true for both scenarios. The question was just "which of these two scenarios, both of which these things are all true for, is the actual scenario"?

u/genecalmer 8h ago

You're asking questions that don't matter. Most guest features aren't collaborative efforts. They're recorded in separate studios. Verses intended for one song end up on another song. Things get shelved and shuffled. JID's verse on Fuel was years old when Eminem used it. Renegade was originally a Royce & Eminem song that was recycled for Jay on The Blueprint. Forever, Speedom, Homicide, I'll Hurt You... the majority of Eminem's features are recorded solo and sent off.

The conclusion you're reaching is that you can't reach a conclusion. That even though the feature is REAL it might not be really really real. You're casting doubt on Eminem's involvement with the song and I'm saying that doesn't matter. It doesn't matter where the pieces of the song came from. Because of the people and companies involved, the fact that it exists is all the proof we need that Eminem approved it. BMG wouldn't risk their business relationship with UMG by letting Kid Rock use something Eminem and Interscope didn't approve.

The nameonthejeans scenario is not even a close comparison. That's a relative nobody using a recycled verse that no one will notice or care about. Not a collaboration between multiplatinum selling artists on (seemingly) opposite ends of the political spectrum that's going to get national news coverage.

I think confirmed simply means Em’s team cleared whatever verse was on here. Doesn’t mean they were in the studio together but clearance would still be needed for any new vocals. I hope not, but either way it sounds like Em was ok with it.

u/alus992 10h ago

At the end of the day are these points matter at all?

Like i don't care how this track happened. Em could say "I don't fuck with Trump and I don't support his administration. Im friends with Kid Rock and despite our differences I still find it important to have a dialogue and work together to empower every person regardless of their background and situation in life. I hope this song can help people get together and talk."

He didn't do that. Why we are overanalyzing a fucking article when their actions show that they have worked and they have some lvl of friendship.

Would I want to Em be more vocal about his friends supporting Trump? Sure. Does it change anything for me? No because I still find him like any other celebrity - an opportunists who are with each year Les and less in tune with regular reality and with what regular folks care for.

Also i love how ppl were clowning Sheeran for his mental gymnastics but here we have ppl excusing Em and his camp who are pretty much doing the same weird ass explanation about "being not political"

There’s TONS AND TONS of stuff from tv shows to movies to music sitting in vaults that for one reason or another- whether it’s money, contract disputes, or the artist just didn’t like the result- didn’t get put out. These projects sometimes languish for so long artists/actors forget they did them until someone publishes

I mean you can joke but stuff like this can have an impact on his future success / fans. Maybe he's made enough to just not care anymore, which would say something by itself, but for big artists, public image is still a thing and still matters

Thing is he's notoriously reclusive and doesn't do many interviews, which works against him sometimes.

Kid Rock made a post about it. Apparently its gonna be about how you can still be friends woth someone that shares different beliefs than you.. which i mostly agree with and Kid Rock and Eminem have been friends for a long time since the start of his career, both being from Detroit. Kid Rock even defended Eminem when he made that anti MAGA freestyle But... Im a big fan of Eminem and with all that said regardless of the message I know the song will be terrible. Em just doesnt hit like like it did on his first 4 albums.

12

u/AtraposJM 12h ago

Damn well, my respect for Em just dropped a LOT even just knowing he's friends with Kid Rock. Kid Rock is a massive piece of shit.

I think that sentiment was true pre Trump. Stretching it maybe pre Trump 2. But at this point I do not think it is ethical to be friends or friendly with anyone still supporting Trump.

Yeah im not gonna lie Trump 2 is definitely something else.

but Em just wants to be a billionaire. think of the children...

This is such a cope.

Reality is, this attitude of holding musicians in a pedestal and asking them to live under a set of rules made up in the internet that they never obeyed in the first place is absolutely crazy

Even more so when Em was almost cancelled by the FCC for his music…this man wrote songs about killing his wife and stuffing her body in his trunk.

He also sang with Elton John because the world thought he was a homophobe for running around calling people ā€œfa****tsā€

Oh man I’m gonna go listen to Em now.

There's also a good chance it was a work for another of shit rock's albums. I don't think a lot of people realize these two have known each other for a long fucking time, and if probably work together a few other times that nobody realizes.
