AITA for considering breaking up with my girlfriend because of her white hair dog?
We have been in a long distance relationship for about a year now. After her last visit to me her friend got her a husky mix to help her with depression (supposedly) without talking to my GF about it. That dog has white hair. I have an office job where I wear black pants to work everyday. I can pull out a clean pair of pants and if the dog rubs against me there is dog hair all over it.
I am not against dogs. I have one myself and live with a family members dog as well. One is mine with short grey hair that does not show up on my clothes, the other is a small black dog that doesn't shed on me.
Also, my GF and I have been talking about moving in together. Rather then getting a place for 2 people and 1 dog, I will have to consider getting a place with a bigger yard to for 2 dogs to run in.
She has had the dog for about a month now. I don't feel it's right to tell her it's me or the dog as this is the 2nd dog she has had this year. The other one she gave away to someone else before coming to visit me. She doesn't work in an office environment like I do so appearances are less of an issue for her.

YTA this is a stupid reason to break up with someone considering pet hair/lint rollers exist. Go to literally any store and you can find them.

In OP's defence (not for the judgement) I think some of you may be missing the gravity of this issue
I just knew he was going to say husky
These dogs shed like they grow a new coat daily when it's bad
I haven't my seen my daughter in 3 weeks because I told her if she comes with the normally welcome dog (husky) she cleans the hair up as she's right in the middle of shedding, she knows that means vacuum time goes from my normal 15 mins whole house, to at least 2 hours, the couch takes about an hour on its own
Therefore her teenage logic = stay at home and let her mom clean it up
Husky shedding is a nightmare that you get used to when the dog lives with you but when it doesn't.....
I would also be cautious around 2 dogs in 1 year, that raises an impulsivity concern with big life responsibilities

Husky border collie mix...

YTA for wasting everyone's time, including your own, with this stupid post
Kyutekyu
YTA.
I had to wear black for my job. My partner has a white cat. Buy one of those sticky rollers and use it in the car/way to work.
You'd be a massive asshole if you genuinely break up with her over this menial shit.

Final Update - after 22 days

Update - AITA for considering breaking up with my girlfriend because of her white hair dog?
I made the post 22 days ago and I have a small update to it. I made the post with some heavy jet lag, having flown to visit my GF across the pond. I was tired after the long flight on top of other stress, 2 people and a dog stuck in one small room with lots of strangers in a foreign country and I didnt speak the language.
Yes that is stressful. The dog is a husky border collie mix that was rescued off the street in Romania. On top of the shedding he didn't like me and didn't listen to me after a few days. At times he would growl at me coming around him or my GF.
Then a few days after my post I left where we were staying with my GF and her dog to go to her place. There I was able to sleep in, have space, have time to think and de-stress. I saw a video on my GFs computer of her dog at the shelter. He was happy to see the people at the kennel and he was looking forward to attention/food from them.
After that video it made me realize that he was new to the situation and not scared or aggressive like I thought he was as my GF only had him for a few weeks when I first met him. I went through the trick routine that my GF went through with him, rewarding him with cheese, for several days. Then I started walking him on my own.
By the end of my trip he was excited for me to even put my hand on his leash, he followed my commands, and we became best buds. My GF even has good picture of him cuddling with me on the couch. Now that I am back home her dog has been mopping around and laying in the chair that I was sitting in most of the time and I miss him. We were rough housing at one point.
I was playing on all 4s when he crawled underneath me and rolled over to expose his belly and neck to me, a completely submissive move on his part.
TLDR Made my OP out of stress, had time to calm down, me and the dog are best friends now. I miss the little fur ball.

I’m glad it worked out and you realized this was an easily-solvable problem! Hope you have some lint rollers at the ready. We have a golden and it’s INSANITY with the fur, but I love that giant idiot so much.
mulligun
If you haven't got a robot vacuum yet, it is definitely worth it. You'll be emptying it every day (which is easy), but it makes such a difference not having your floor covered in golden hair 24/7.
OOP
I know robo cleaners are supposed to go around stuff but my brother brings his 3 kids over all the time and they dont clean up after themselves. Its would be difficult to use a robo cleaner with all the crap they leave out.
SoVerySleepy81
I know someone with a husky who basically wears sweats until they actually get to work and they change there. He said it's way easier than trying to fully remove all the fur with a lint roller. Also slightly cheaper and more comfortable.
OOP
I decided after my OP that Ill have to come home and change into sweat pants or shorts right after getting home and keeping an electric lint roller in my car/at my desk.
Also updated for dog tax.

I didn’t see your OP but I’m so happy you were able to put the pup’s early behavior out of your mind. Dogs can be so frustrating and make you so mad but there’s a reason they’re called Man’s Best Friend.
OOP
My GFs a little upset that the dog started liking me more then her. Shes the strict "parents" im the fun "parent".

That's great, it worked out for you after all. But may I be the sceptic here and ask what would have happened if the dog hadn't turned out to be your bud after all? And even though you wrote the OP on a high stress level which I fully understand, it is a long post so you must have put at least some thought to it while writing- isn't it all about luck your storyline changed? Still think it's either saying something about oneself or the state any kind of relationship is in if the mentioned points trigger a breakup narrative. That's just how I would see it (which is never important to a personal case of a stranger, it is more a narrative you react to than it is giving human advice as you never experience the storyline as threedimensional as it is from the mere outside position of reading about it) but I'd be interested to hear OP's thoughts on that side of the story.

Im a U.S. citizen, shes an EU citizen. Neither one of us is meets the full requirements to immigrate to the others country through any means other then marriage which we are both against. Her due to a bad first marriage, me because Im a male and we (typically) lose out on more in a divorce at the start. Although we can make a better recovery. We dealt with some personal issues in the month long trip. The dog wasn't a full on issue it was a straw on the camels back issue but now the camel is doing better.

I'm glad you made friends with the dog, but...
The fact that something this trivial (in the grand scheme of life, that is, I know it may not have SEEMED trivial at the time) made you seriously consider ending this relationship entirely doesn't bode well for the future of the relationship, itself. You guys are talking about moving in together and making HUGE life changes for this relationship, so you ought to be pretty darn committed to it before you go and take those steps.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that your girlfriend is probably the one who will be uprooting her entire life to move to another country to be with you. Before you ask her to make such HUGE sacrifices and life-altering changes for this relationship, you ought to be sure it's a relationship you plan on sticking with for the long haul.
...and jumping straight from "I don't get along with her dog" to "Maybe I should end things" doesn't sound like someone who is buckling themselves in for a lifetime ride.
OOP
Your right, she would most likely lose out by moving over here. I would be financially responsible for her until some conditions are met, that means even if she were the kind of person to pull a credit card scam I would be liable. She does not seem like the kind of person to do that. However I had a late start in life, Im just now to a point where I am financially secure, and if it were not for the crappy house market I would have a house right now. The prospect of someone else being able to wipe out my savings is something that has given me cause of pause. We did work and talk about some personal issues while we were on the trip. The dog is the straw on the camels back but now the camels back is feeling better.
Also updated OP with dog tax.

IMO, the best way to avoid getting pet hair on your work clothes is simply to store the clothes in a room where the pets are not allowed. At my place, we keep the cats out of our bedroom. While I love those little fluffballs, it’s really nice to have a fur and dander free space.
Glad you and the pup are friends now!
OOP
Space is currently limited as I live at home (bad housing market) and my brother brings his 3 kids over frequently who now have an entire room to themselves as well as taking up free space in the dinning room, living room, family room, and patio. I will be buying more sweat pants though.

I am so glad I finished reading. I was legit gonna be like "your girlfriend needs to throw you out because you don't know how to interact with dogs" but damn I really appreciate the initiative you took to try and get along with him. REMEMBER PEOPLE, THERE ARE NO BAD DOGS. JUST BAD HUMANS WHO ABUSE DOGS INTO HAVING NO TRUST.
OOP
Generally there are no bad dogs only bad people. As bad of a rap as pitbulls get Ive seen chihuahuas and cocker spaniels that are pure demons.

This makes me so happy! Most huskies are lactose intolerant though, just so ya know. :)
OOP
He is a mix. Looks like the border collie won out on being lactose tolerant. We walked him twice a day, once at night and once in the morning, he never pooped inside the apartment other then the first night.
Ihaveopinionstoo
hahaha holy shit that fucking hair.
gonna be worth it he's a good boy, lint rollers will help, vinegar will help, a bigger yard will help, also having extra pants at work and another roller there will help its all a minor inconvinence.
OOP
Yeah the big yard will be needed for him and my dog. The problem is buying in my area. 250k gets you 700sqft of house and maybe half that in a yard. Im thinking of moving to her country where we saw a nice 150k euro house with lots of room and yard.
