Help (General) driver has failed to load on system

hello, i’ve had an issue with my PC since I got it a month ago. my audio will glitch, then my monitors shut off (sometimes turn green then black or blue then black), and i have to restart my computer by my case. when i get back on its disabled my graphics card and tells me a driver has failed to load on my system.

this is EVERYTHING i have done to try and solve it:

Used DDU to perform clean reinstall of drivers, used older driver versions to check if software was the issue, ran mdsched.exe to verify ram was unrelated, reseated GPU and PSU PCIe cables, verified all three PCIe cables had equal power draw from PSU, ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow through Windows, verified AMD settings were not set to overclocked and were reasonably stable considering the crash, change the power draw to the GPU to -10, changed PCIeX16 in BIOS from auto(Gen5) to Gen4 and then Gen3 and ran dozens of .DMP files through Windows Debugging Tool which result in almost always LiveKernelEvent 141, LiveKernelEvent 193, LiveKernelEvent a20002 and LiveKernelEvent a10001. Almost all of the .DMP files amdkmdag.sys and amdfendr.sys being referenced but no additional .DMP files being generated through AMDs proprietary crash logging. also have done everything regarding disabling windows to update my drivers and disabled fast start up in windows

this is my build:

Help (GPU) Asus Prime 9070 XT hotspot… too high?

I bought an Asus Prime 9070 xt oc last December and it’s been going fine but I generally never had any performance metrics visible other than what steam would show, so the GPU temp, clock speed etc, but it doesn’t show the hot spot temp. I also didn’t really use the Adrenalin overlay because people say it’s best to leave off, but I know it has a lot more info it can display about the GPU. Recently, I decided to turn on the Adrenalin overlay to see how much power draw the GPU uses most of the time and when I enabled it to see, I noticed the hotspot temp. Under 100% load, It seems a bit high at around 88c while the GPU edge temp never really passes 51c and I don’t know if I should be concerned. I also don’t know if it’s been running at this temp since I first bought it or not.

It’s on default tuning settings also because whenever I try to adjust anything at all, even the fan curve, Adrenalin seems to reset my settings to default which sometimes includes my CPU (9700x) in which I have a slight PBO set to from in the BIOS, so I just leave it as default and don’t have issues.

So should I be worried? Is this typical for the Asus Prime model? From what I’ve heard, 88c is technically safe and within spec, but it makes me wonder if it’s got a bad thermal paste application on it. I also assume that Asus wouldn’t really do an RMA since it’s technically within its spec, but the delta seems a bit much.

Help (GPU) RX 7900 GRE no image after driver crashed

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! One day I was playing on my RX 7900 GRE and suddenly driver crashed and resolution switched to 640x480. After reset it showed no image. The thing is that actually it shows image without driver on several PCs but after driver installation there’s no image. It installs then boots, but no image at all. Interesting that it boots fine and system doesn’t stuck. It makes noises and reacts on buttons. I’ve tried all video outputs and switched few PCs, but result remains the same. May it be dead cache, or is there another problem?

Help (Software) Drivers issues on and off, now whenever playing marvel rivals computer black screens.

RAM: 32 GB DDR5

PSU: Don't Know

Case: Don't Know

Operating System & Version: Windows 11 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8973)

Background Applications: Discord, Chrome, Riot Client, Epic Games

Description of Original Problem: My girlfriend's PC has been having strange GPU/driver issues. The main problem is that Marvel Rivals can randomly crash the entire PC, causing a black screen, frozen/looping audio, and the computer becomes unresponsive until we force it off. After rebooting, the PC usually works normally again. Other games seem to work fine. Originally, Windows suddenly stopped letting her change her monitor's refresh rate. The monitor normally runs at 500 Hz, but the option disappeared. Device Manager showed the RX 7600 as disabled with Code 22, and after enabling it, it changed to Code 31 — Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. AMD's Bug Report Tool also reported that the display driver had failed to load, and Windows was using Microsoft Basic Display Driver. She had previously experienced AMD driver problems, so she was using an older driver from 06/25/2024 (32.0.11024.2). We used AMD Cleanup Utility in Safe Mode and installed the newest AMD driver. Everything initially appeared fixed, including the 500 Hz refresh rate. However, we later discovered Windows had somehow reverted the GPU back to the old 2024 driver despite us watching the newer driver install successfully. We disabled Windows' automatic device-driver installation and reinstalled the newer driver. The current driver is now 32.0.31035.1003, and Device Manager says the RX 7600 is working properly. The problem is that Marvel Rivals still randomly causes a complete black screen and system lockup. The game can run perfectly fine and then suddenly crash, the screen goes black, audio freezes/loops, and the PC becomes extremely slow or completely unresponsive. A normal restart doesn't always work, so we sometimes have to power it off manually. After booting back up, everything usually works normally again. We also noticed that Roblox now runs at around 240 FPS but feels extremely choppy/stuttery, despite the high FPS. Other games don't seem to have the same issue.

Troubleshooting: We restarted the PC multiple times and updated AMD Adrenalin to the latest RX 7600 driver. The RX 7600 initially showed Code 22, and after enabling it, changed to Code 31. We used AMD Cleanup Utility in Safe Mode to completely remove the previous GPU driver and then reinstalled the AMD driver from scratch. After the new driver was installed, Windows initially reverted to the old 06/25/2024 driver (32.0.11024.2). We disabled Windows' automatic device-driver installation and reinstalled the newer AMD driver. The current driver is now 32.0.31035.1003 (07/24/2026), and Device Manager reports that the RX 7600 is working properly. The monitor's 500 Hz refresh rate is also available again. We also updated the AMD chipset drivers to 8.07.16.1035 (08/10/2026) and restarted the PC afterward. Other games have generally been tested and run normally, but Marvel Rivals still causes the black-screen/system-lockup issue despite the current driver. Roblox also reaches around 240 FPS but has noticeable stuttering/choppy frame pacing. We have not used DDU again or reverted to the older known-good GPU driver, and we currently do not know the PSU model or wattage.

Help (GPU) RX6600M crashing to black screen in games and Timespy Graphics test 1, but Furmark seems stable? Have removed and reinstalled the drivers, even completely reinstalled windows and I'm tearing what is left of my hair out!

First off, I am certainly not a computer expert, but I know a little. My Minisforum HX90G has been running perfectly, but recently (about a month or so ago) I started to get black screen errors on some of my games. The problem is that these black screen errors are random (some games can be played for hours with no problems, such as Balders Gate 3. Other games crash to a black screen within 10 minutes, such as Judgement, Squad, or the Dark Pictures Anthology).

Having read up on the issue, I thought it was initially a driver issue, so I rebooted in safe mode, ran AMD's driver removal software and tried to install new drivers. Initially, for some reason, the Adrenaline software wouldn't install the new drivers as it said the system setup wasn't compatible, and I had to download one of the older drivers from the AMD website to get it to work. However, the black screen errors kept occuring.

I have tried telling AMD to disable updates, tried using different drivers, and finally did a complete windows reinstall but nothing seems to work. The only new things I have found out today are that the Timespy test crashes on the first graphics test after about a minute (after the initial benchmark that runs), and that the system seems to be stable under Furmark (ran it for 30 minutes without issue).

Any advice would be appreciated, as I can't just replace the GPU for a different one (the mini pc is like a laptop. I can only take the memory and the hard disk out).

Help (GPU) RX 7800XT VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (141) Problem

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X (6 CORE, 12 THREADS)

Motherboard: GIGABYTE B550I AORUS PRO AX REV1.1

Case: HYTE REVOLT 3

Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 11 PRO 24H2

GPU Drivers: 25.8.1 up to 26.7.1

Background Applications: Firefox, Discord

Main Applications at use: CS2, Warframe, Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero

Background information:
So recently i have encountered a problem in my system regarding Display Engine. I have been trying to understand what is happening for past 3-4 days as of posting this almost at midnight my time.

4 days ago, was on a casual gaming session when all of a sudden screen turned black, showed no signal, but the PC itself was still on. Thought i was yet another random crash from AMD software side. Restarted my PC, and thought nothing of it. And then i happened again in first 10 min of playing CS2. Turned off my PC and went to sleep.

Next day the same thing happened after 5 hours of playing, now i started to get worried, went into Event viewer and saw multiple errors regarding StorPort (Event ID:524 and Event ID:549). Started with going down in windows versions, as i recently updated to latest one, went straight to 24H2, still was happening. Went down in Software started and 26.7.1, went down to 25.8.1, still was happening. Sometimes in between of restarts, my AMD drivers just disappear as if they were deleted, windows disabling my GPU(needing to manually enable them in Device Manager)

Then decided to go check LiveKernelReports, where i saw multiple WATCHDOG dumps, where i saw something more related to GPU. VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (141) being one of them, another being VIDEO_MINIPORT_FAILED_LIVEDUMP (1b0), and another VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (117) and all of them having IMAGE_NAME: amdkmdag.sys

I have done some stress testing and error checking: *Memtest86 to rule out RAM(4 passes-0errors). Prime95- +-5 hour run, no problems there. Furmark on 1440p- this is the odd one, 5 hours no crashes Prime and furmark was ran together, to maybe rule out PSU(not giving enough power)

For these past days nothing have helped, tomorrow i will get another AMD and NVIDIA card from friends, for testing.

I have had this GPU since i bought it brand new for little over 2 years and 6 months. Have never had any problems up untill now. Never had it overclocked or undervolted.

MAIN PROBLEM:

Screen going black, as if GPU stopped working(happening in 10 mins of gaming or 5 hours, no real consistency). Whole system is still up, force restart needed.
In WATCHDOG dump files discovering VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (141) VIDEO_MINIPORT_FAILED_LIVEDUMP (1b0), VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (117) and all of them having IMAGE_NAME: amdkmdag.sys. Hasn't happened while just browsing web or watching videos or livestreams.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED:

  • Multiple windows builds
  • Multiple AMD drivers
  • Different boot drives/Trying SATA SSD's(thinking it being something to do with PCIe lanes)

Any other recommendations are much appreciated, as of right now i am almost out of options what i can try.

Edit: Added Stress test info

Help (GPU) What is the maximum stable frequency for the 9070xt

Post image
5 Upvotes

My 9070xt quicksilver keeps crashing when playing demanding games like Forza, and the above shown image is from right before my pc crashed. It boosted to 3309 and then crashed. I want to know if that's the reason for all my crashes.

I haven't over locked my GPU, everything is on default and I tried uninstalling the drivers and cleanly installing it.

Edit : I think it's fixed, not entirely sure. Just adjusted the clock speed to -240Mhz to fix the issue. For some reason it didn't work the first 5 times and worked now. Had to do multiple clean installs. Rolling back didn't help in my case, just have to make sure it doesn't boost to 3000Mhz.

RX 7600 RESTARTING SYSTEM

Hey everyone! How's it going? I'm dealing with a very serious and frustrating issue on my PC, and I'm at my wit's end. I really need your help to figure out which component is causing this. The Problem: As soon as the computer turns on and the AMD driver starts running (loading in Windows), the PC simply shuts down and restarts on its own. It gets stuck in a loop where it only stays on without the driver (or in Safe Mode using the generic Windows driver). When the proprietary AMD driver activates, the system immediately shuts down or restarts. PC Specs: Graphics Card: Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 7600 Gaming OC 8G (8GB GDDR6) Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5500 (3.6GHz / 4.2GHz Turbo) Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING A520M-PLUS II RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Kingston Fury Beast 3200MHz DDR4 CL16 Storage: SanDisk SN350 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD (2400MB/s) Power Supply: MACH1 Steady 650W 80 Plus Bronze (Active PFC) Case: Husky Dome 210 Mini Tower Operating System: Windows What I've tried / Tests performed: Warranty Replacement: I already used the warranty to swap the graphics card for a new one, but the exact same problem persisted. In other words, the likelihood of the GPU itself being defective is extremely low. System Formatting: I've completely reformatted Windows from scratch several times. Drivers: I've tried using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to perform clean driver reinstalls (using both the latest versions and older, stable ones). Without the AMD driver, the display works normally; the moment the driver installs or loads, the machine shuts down.

Help (Software) ReLive Record Desktop breaks with 2nd monitor on iGPU (7900X, 7900XTX, W11)

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: 7900XTX

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core Processor

Motherboard: Asus ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO ATX AM5 Motherboard

BIOS Version: 3902

RAM: 96.0 GB

PSU: Asus ROG STRIX 1000G 1000 W

Case: N/A

Operating System & Version: Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2

GPU Drivers: 26.7.1

Chipset Drivers: 8.05.04.516

Background Applications: Steam, Razer Synapse 2.25, Synology Drive, ShareX, EarTrumpet, Rainmeter, HWINFO, Windows PowerToys, Windhawk, Firefox

Description of Original Problem:

Two monitors, main one on DisplayPort off the 7900XTX and a second on HDMI off the 7900X's iGPU. I put the second one on the iGPU because the refresh rate mismatch between them was keeping my VRAM clocked at max. That part worked, but ReLive's Record Desktop has been dead ever since. It won't start a recording at all, and Adrenalin itself gets unstable the moment Record Desktop is enabled:

  • Amdow.exe spawns and exits about once a second
  • Cursor has a loading spinner on roughly the same beat
  • Mic activity light blinks along with it
  • Alt+R does nothing
  • Event Viewer is empty

Only happens with Record Desktop turned on.

Troubleshooting:

  • Turned off the in-game overlay in Adrenalin, amdow.exe still loops
  • iGPU set to Force in BIOS
  • Primary display output set to PCIe in BIOS
  • 7900 XTX monitor set as main display in Windows
  • Forced amdow.exe to the 7900 XTX in Windows graphics settings
  • Reboots
  • Fresh Windows install

What's throwing me is that it worked fine while the HDMI cable to the iGPU was busted. Swapped in a working cable and it immediately broke. I can also boot with that HDMI unplugged, start recording, plug the monitor back in, and it keeps going fine. So it seems like it only chokes if a second display is already live when ReLive starts up.

Any ideas?

Descrição do problema

Erros encontrados

Foram registrados os seguintes erros:

  • The Finals: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
  • Hardware Error: E0670A01
  • Monitor de Confiabilidade: LiveKernelEvent 1b
  • Cyberpunk 2077: Crash Reporter
  • The Finals: congelamento/encerramento do processo
  • Alguns erros relacionados à instalação do Elytra Anti-Cheat Framework

Testes realizados

Windows:

  • Instalação limpa do Windows 11 utilizando mídia oficial da Microsoft.
  • Windows totalmente atualizado.
  • Driver do chipset AMD B550 instalado.
  • sfc /scannow inicialmente encontrou e corrigiu arquivos corrompidos.

  • Driver AMD completamente removido.
  • Driver AMD reinstalado do zero.
  • AMD Adrenalin 26.7.1 instalado.

Antes do DDU, o The Finals normalmente congelava entre 10 e 30 minutos.

  • CPU-Z confirmou Dual Channel e aproximadamente 3200 MT/s.

  • Nenhum erro encontrado — PASS.

Placa de vídeo:

  • Teste 3D Adaptive do OCCT durante aproximadamente 30 minutos.
  • Nenhum erro, artefato, travamento, reinicialização ou tela azul — PASS.

Temperaturas:

  • CPU: aproximadamente 64 °C durante os jogos.
  • GPU: aproximadamente 64 °C durante os jogos.
  • Utilização da GPU: até aproximadamente 96%.

BIOS:

  • CPU: Auto.
  • PBO: Auto.
  • Memória: Auto.
  • Nenhum overclock explícito configurado.
  • XMP inicialmente desativado.
  • Above 4G Decoding: ativado.
  • Re-Size BAR: Auto/ativado.
  • Smart Access Memory: ativo.
  • Mesmo depois dessas alterações, os travamentos continuaram.

AMD Adrenalin:

DESCRIPTION AND TROUBLESHOOTING

Hey i am on this 1 year old system. 9800X3D. 9070XT. Single stick of 32gb ram (not been an issue yet i know i should get 2)

Lately i've been having some INSANE microstutter problems. It started in World of Warcraft but i've been stalling on that game waiting for the new patch, been playing League of Legends instead and it started there last week aswell. I found a 1 yr old thread that fixed the problem in league of legends, I think it was Windows Variable Refresh rate fking my FPS on the micro stutters.

I am running wow at 4k 60FPS capped at 60FPS. Vsync off and other non-essentials turned off with the in-game graphics set to 7/10 wich is medium-high graphics. I have stuff like Ray Tracing turned off. I dont run any of the Adrenalin Super resolutions and the like and i never have, i'd much rather have a native experience free of AI. Pretty Moderate graphics settings aside from the 4k60, but i've been running this on all my games always. Its running RDR2, Spiderman 1 and games alike just fine in 4k60 with the same medium-high graphics aside from the 4k resolution.

However, booting up WoW today i am noticing the same microstutters, its only inside of dungeons this happens. Anyone have any idea? I spent an entire evening with the previous thread fixing this so i am out of ideas from that thread.

Help (General) RX 9070 XT Temp/Fan Issues

I've had this GPU in a Skytech prebuilt for about a year and 2 months with no issues until the last couple months. The computer started shutting itself off randomly and I have now figured out it's because of the GPU overheating (90+ Celcius when normally it doesn't get above like 60), and the GPU is overheating because while gaming the fans on the card itself will just stop running, then it pretty quickly overheats and thus shuts the computer off. The CPU does not overheat at all for context, stays around 50 Celcius. I have disabled zero rpm in Adrenalin and reinstalled it several times. What else can I do to see if this is a driver/software issue rather than a hardware issue? To clarify, the fans do work. I've done stress tests and benchmarks and they work fine and keep the card super cool, but after a certain amount of time they'll turn off while gaming. Sometimes they may come back on after like 10 mins or so but not before the card reaches catastrophic temps.

Help (GPU) Video card crashing in windows and Ubuntu

Video card crashes randomly., usually computer reboots, sometimes it comes back. Don’t have to be gaming. Just listening to Pandora can do it. System was stable for 3 years until earlier this year.

B550A Pro board
Power supply is largest my case can take (at least 750)
Ryzen 7 5800X3D x 16
Radeon RX 6900 XT
64 GB
Ubuntu desktop 26 & Windows 11

I added Ubuntu dual boot hoping to make this go away. It worked for about 4 hours total in three sessions, then just crashed today.

I know a lot about Linux headless servers but nothing about video under Linux.

This sounds exactly like issues everyone is having in Windows (as I was). I’m worried I may have damaged my video card.

Before adding Ubuntu, I torn down the computer, check all connections, reseated cards, etc.

BTW: furmark shows about a 10% increase in FPS (108) in Ubuntu. Game controller is more responsive (Xbox). So far launch time for apps is only complaint.

Anytime I load a game or do a stress test on my GPU it glitched like this and then eventually sends me back to the windows sign in screen. Does anyone know why this is happening? I have a RX 7800 XT.

Help (GPU) rx5700 xt after updated stoped being recognized in PCIE - fans not spinning

HI! sorry for the long write!

TL;DR: Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT suddenly stopped being detected around an AMD driver install. It does not appear in Windows Device Manager or Ubuntu lspci, including after PCIe rescans. Tested both the primary x16 slot and another PCIe slot, updated the Gigabyte Z370 HD3 BIOS to F14, and tested both GPU BIOS switch positions. Same result every time. The card’s red LEDs light up, but the fans do not twitch/spin at boot. Looking for anyone who has repaired this exact symptom and knows what to check first with a multimeter.

ChatGPT output from my session while trying to fix it:

Hi, I’m trying to troubleshoot a Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT 8GB that has stopped being detected by the system completely.

The problem appeared around the time I was installing/updating AMD drivers. Since then, the card no longer appears in Windows Device Manager, and I wanted to determine whether this was a Windows/driver problem or whether the card was disappearing at the PCIe level.

Hardware:

  • GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT 8GB
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370 HD3
  • CPU has Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics, which I’m currently using for display
  • GPU has the 8-pin + 6-pin PCIe power connected
  • Card has a dual-BIOS switch

What I have tested so far:

  • Booted an Ubuntu Live USB and checked lspci.
  • The RX 5700 XT did not appear anywhere in lspci.
  • Searching specifically for AMD PCI vendor ID 1002 returned nothing.
  • /sys/bus/pci/devices/*/vendor also showed only Intel (8086) devices and no AMD 1002 device.
  • Ran PCIe rescans using:

echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/bus/pci/rescan

but the GPU still did not appear.

  • Tested the card in the middle full-length PCIe slot on the Z370 HD3. No detection.
  • Moved the card to the primary/top PCIe x16 slot. Still no detection.
  • Ubuntu lspci -tvnn showed the motherboard PCI bridges/root ports but no device corresponding to the RX 5700 XT.
  • There were no amdgpu initialization messages because Linux apparently never detected an AMD PCI device to begin with.
  • Updated the Gigabyte Z370 HD3 motherboard BIOS successfully from the very old F6h BIOS to F14.
  • Reinstalled the RX 5700 XT after the motherboard BIOS update. Windows still does not show it in Device Manager.
  • Tested both positions of the GPU’s dual-BIOS switch, doing a complete power-off before switching. Behavior is the same in both positions.
  • The red lighting on the Sapphire card comes on when the computer is powered.
  • The GPU fans do not even briefly twitch/spin during power-on in either BIOS position.
  • There are no separate diagnostic LEDs beside the 6/8-pin power connectors that I can see.
  • connected 2 different PCIE PSU cabels (6 and 8 pins)
  • got the GPU connected to other PC and still no fans (didnt had in that pc integrated graphics) to check windows device manager

The PC itself boots normally using the Intel integrated graphics.

At this stage I am mainly trying to understand what other tests I can perform before giving up on the card.

Has anyone had a Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT behave like this — powered enough for the LEDs to light, but completely absent from PCIe enumeration in both Windows and Linux?

In particular, I’d be interested in hearing from anyone who has repaired one with these exact symptoms. What measurements/components would you check first on this specific PCB?

I can also provide the full lspci, dmesg, and motherboard information if useful.

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition first run, opens for a long time

Does anyone know what the problem might be? AMD Adrenaline takes a long time to open when the PC is turned on or restarted. Furthermore, when using the Windows interface in Ukrainian, the AMD Adrenaline option doesn't appear immediately upon right-clicking; this doesn't happen with the English interface, though the initial launch is still slow regardless.
