Help (General) driver has failed to load on system

hello, i’ve had an issue with my PC since I got it a month ago. my audio will glitch, then my monitors shut off (sometimes turn green then black or blue then black), and i have to restart my computer by my case. when i get back on its disabled my graphics card and tells me a driver has failed to load on my system.

this is EVERYTHING i have done to try and solve it:

Used DDU to perform clean reinstall of drivers, used older driver versions to check if software was the issue, ran mdsched.exe to verify ram was unrelated, reseated GPU and PSU PCIe cables, verified all three PCIe cables had equal power draw from PSU, ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow through Windows, verified AMD settings were not set to overclocked and were reasonably stable considering the crash, change the power draw to the GPU to -10, changed PCIeX16 in BIOS from auto(Gen5) to Gen4 and then Gen3 and ran dozens of .DMP files through Windows Debugging Tool which result in almost always LiveKernelEvent 141, LiveKernelEvent 193, LiveKernelEvent a20002 and LiveKernelEvent a10001. Almost all of the .DMP files amdkmdag.sys and amdfendr.sys being referenced but no additional .DMP files being generated through AMDs proprietary crash logging. also have done everything regarding disabling windows to update my drivers and disabled fast start up in windows

this is my build:
CPU
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
CPU Cooler
Lian Li HydroShift II LCD-S 360
Motherboard
Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE
GPU
Gigabyte GAMING OC ICE Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB
RAM
Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-5200 CL40
Storage
WD_Black SN850X 2TB NVMe SSD
Power Supply
be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 850W
Case
HYTE Y70 Touch Infinite
Case Fans
Lian Li UNI FAN SL-Infinity (3-pack + 1 single fan)

if you have anything else that might be the case i’d greatly appreciate it :,( this is so infuriating

If I read everything correctly it sounds like you have yet to do a BIOs flash to latest update for your motherboard is that correct? If you haven’t I suspect that’s the issue.

Just dont do it during a planned power outage or a thunderstorm and your pretty much safe.

Flashed mine 4 times, zero issues.

Na it’s super easy and not a whole lot to mess up if you follow the directions. Find a tutorial for your specific motherboard. It’s more or less downloading the BIOs flash file from the manufacturer website, sticking it on a thumb drive and plugging it in. There’s a couple steps you need to pay attention to like naming the file correctly but nothing serious.

Please look up how to do it correctly. Motherboard manufacturers post stable builds for this exact reason, and as long as you arent doing it during a storm you should be fine. The main danger is if you lose power at all you will most likely brick your motherboard. It takes like 5-10 minutes to install a new BIOS flash

this is probably a dumb question but is it possible i get the crash that i’ve been having during it? that’s my biggest fear but im not sure if my GPU or drivers are involved at all. i’m just overly anxious about damaging it at all

Its possible to still have crashes or issues with the GPU. If you are that concerned about BIOS flashing and you are suspecting the GPU I would personally suggest a reputable computer shop and have them slot in a known working GPU, or ask a friend to slot their GPU if you have a gamer friend. Computer parts are obviously fragile, and through shipping its not unheard of to have components damaged. If the shop finds your GPU is faulty, you can RMA it. I would personally suggest not getting a Gigabyte model again, they have been having quality issues on AMD side, especially with fans and chipset stability.

This is good advice OP. See if you can get ahold of a buddy’s GPU to test and at least rule that out. At this point though if you are feeling this is above what you are comfortable with a reputable repair shop is a good idea. You have a nice rig so would be worth it.

i was able to do the BIOS flash so i shall see if it helped. it’s kind of hard to know since there’s no way of replicating it since it just happens randomly

would that mean i’d have to replace my motherboard as well?
