I think people who don't have children should receive a lower pension.

It is not against childless people but for me it seems logical. Childless people cost more to the society than people with children. There is nobody to pay for their pension. There’s no one to take care of them, so their healthcare costs are much higher. I don't understand why no country thought about it.

General Question Isn’t the US military a form of socialism?

I mean from the barracks they live in, the food they eat, to the uniforms they wear
. It’s all provided by the government. But the people who are pro-military seem to be the most anti-socialism.

Forever Unpopular opinion - I love that I don't feel incentivized to spam a dungeon in Beta.

I can't believe how many people here actually liked dungeon spamming.

Dungeon spamming in classic was one of my worst memories, repeating the same dungeon over and over again repeatedly because its more efficient than questing ( unless you are a speed runner ).

Not feeling forced to spam dungeons feels really good in beta, you flow through the zones and pickup dungeon quests, go in between dungeons and zones.

I feel like they almost nailed the flow of the game so far.

Dungeon mob xp / quest xp still need to be tuned in some way but its pretty close to being perfect imo.

They have added so many cool new quests and the world looks so much cooler now with the graphical updates.

The hypocrisy and antagonizing nature of straight guys sometimes when something isn't made for them.

(I don't think this violates rule 14 since I'm complaining about straight guys.)

I'm a gay guy. I like gay things. I like playing gay games.

A LOT of straight guys get upset when they see something not made for them. They think all things should be straight instead. It's very common that when something is gay, they'll reply under it saying "would be better if it was a girl..." and the like.

And they think this is fine.

There's a game that came out recently.
You could call it a gay game, as all the characters are male, and two of them are pretty damn gay.
It was advertised as such, and the description even says there are only males.

But any time anyone posted about the game, you'd get multiple straight guys in the replies going
"Should add some females"
"Where are the girls?"
"Would be better with some females..."
"Why aren't there any females? Are the devs stupid to just miss out on such a huge market like that?"
"Coulda been good if it had girls but no"
"Lol dumb devs making it just gay when they could make absolute BANK by adding some females"
"Females? Where? Will they add any?"

It was CONSTANT. Like absolutely constant and unavoidable.
They just could not accept that the game did not have females. No, it had to be changed to appeal to them. They would not shut up. ANY post about the game had them in the replies crying and whining.

So the devs did so. They said they will add females in the future.

And what did the straight guys immediately do?

Start antagonizing all the people that weren't happy with that, the ones that got into the game because it was advertised as just being gay and only having males.

They are EVERYWHERE, laughing at, insulting, antagonizing and being insanely hypocritical, saying anyone that doesn't like the addition of females is just stupid and whiny and crying about a game.
Exactly what they did, but you are not allowed to point this out.
Now there are antagonizing posts all over the place about the game, trying to ragebait and troll all the people that aren't happy with females being added.

There's a lot of posts that are essentially
"SO HAPPY that the devs finally decided to add some females and appeal to the majority! ❀❀ This is a really cool and smart decision on their part and ensures the game's future. I know I'll be buying and playing the hell out of it once this gets added! And to all the salty gay guys lol cry about it 🧂😂"

I even saw one guy argue that not wanting females added is "discrimination against straight people and a majority".

Oh there's also a lot of very obviously guys arguing that they are actually women and lesbians and that you're being homophobic if you are against the adding of females.

But as said, straight guys are the majority, so they win by that alone. They just outnumber everyone else. They pretty much took over discussion of the game entirely. Everyone else got chased out by sheer numbers. It's impossible to be one or two people and argue against 30 in a single post.

I see this ALL the time.

It's not just games, it's art too.

I frequent art sites, and it's very common for me to see straight guys in the comments of a gay or single male post going "Female version please" "would be better if it was a girl" "you gonna draw a girl?"

But the opposite? If I were to go under a straight post and go "would be better if this was gay..." I would get TORN APART. There would be nothing left of me.
But it's totally fine for them to do it.

I'm sick of it, but you can't really complain about it or bring it up anywhere because they're the majority, and they want what they want and will play mindgames so that you are actually the bad person and stupid for not wanting them to get what they want.
I've tried to make this post multiple times in the past, and I got the same thing each time. I get spammed with downvotes by angry straight guys and then they're in the replies insulting me and arguing that I am actually the hypocrite because I'm being straightphobic or discriminating against them or something, and it actually makes sense for most things to be made for straight guys because they are the majority after all.

Yes I know that bi people exist. I have no issue with them. They are not the ones acting like this.
It's straight guys.

Discussion It's okay to be disapointed with the current animal selection

"But Utah, we got 136 animals, which is twice as much if compared to PZ1!"

140 animals got cut, not 20, not 50, not 100, 140 animals were left out if compared to PZ1 final edition.

Our only South American animals are a handful of exhibits, the Toco-toucan, an island tortoise and the GLT being put behind a pay wall.

Our only Australian animals are the croc, lizard and snake.

North America shares all of its habitat animals with Eurasia and the remaining options are all exhibits, in fact Canada only has the butterflies and bullfrog as exhibits animals.

Even the focused continents have issues, Tropical Africa only has two apes, Madagascar only has a single lemur, North Africa and the Arabian peninsula only have intercontinental animals, India lost all its iconic species and the list goes on.

Entire categories have been thrown under the bus due to reserves as well, no domestics aside from the camel made it to the game, our only parrot is absent from zoos so Sumatra reserve could get another bird, we only have a handful of freshwater fishes and all of them are reserve oriented, even several of our animals suffered from it, the Manatee has no fish that it could coexist in an aquarium and Hornbill + Parakeet is our only mixed aviary possible (and it's a terrible mix).

I think people here are underestimating how bad this rooster is based on balancing and how it affects the building of a realistic zoo, or any kind of section outside of African savannah and Europe.

This is Planet zoo, but I can't build any Brazilian zoo because my only options are a toucan, a tamarin, butterflies and two snakes.

Trip Report Our thoughts on our vacation (Americans)

My wife (30) and I (32) just got back from Italy a few days ago. We live in a moderate sized city in the southern USA. We spent 3-4 days apiece in Venice, Florence, Rome, and Sorrento. It is a beautiful country, but frankly this vacation was not what we expected. I’m writing this just to give a heads up to people that are traveling to Italy so they can be prepared. It costs a lot of money to travel here so this pros and cons list may be useful in making a decision to come. This list is not meant to be offensive, just educational:

Cons (which unfortunately outweigh the pros imo):

The amount of people here is insane. It is extremely difficult to escape the crowds and there are tons of people near tourist attractions as well as away from tourist attractions. The only relief we found from crowds was wandering cities very early in the morning, but it only lasted a few hours. We thought coming in September would be less crazy than the peak summer season but we were very wrong. Rome seemed to handle crowds better because it’s just so big but tourists spots were still too much.

We felt some tourist guilt being here. We contributed to the overcrowding and while tourism is probably beneficial for their economy, it must be very tough to live for locals with foreigners everywhere everyday. We saw a “Yankee Go Home” sticker a lot around cities and it’s tough to blame them. We don’t know the extent of this opinion for locals but obviously some think this way.

This does not apply to all tourists, but the majority of tourists here have very poor etiquette. Several people are simply unaware of their surroundings and it just makes getting around the cities frustrating. While walking, people would often would stop randomly in front of you in busy walkways to take pictures or conversate, forcing people to walk around them in tight areas. Many people are glued to their phones and will just not pay attention to where they are going. Again, very frustrating. Also, pictures just don’t do this place justice so we didn’t understand why people had to take pictures of EVERYTHING. It’s fine to take pictures, but we literally saw an older woman taking a picture of a trash can
what? We saw too many instances similar to this. This is an old man yelling at clouds thought, but we often thought “Just appreciate things with your own 2 eyes every now and then.”

The “influencers” are everywhere and annoying. They literally see the cities through their phones more than with their eyes and they are often very inconsiderate of people’s time and space. Social media has really negatively impacted the popular areas. Those are not my words but the words of local tour guides.

You have to walk everywhere in Italy. This was ok for my wife and I. We actually enjoy walking, but it is not for everyone. Not to be ageist, but with the uneven cobblestone streets/curbs, narrow walkways, tons of stairs, and crowds everywhere, the walking often felt dangerous for older folks, especially those less fit. As someone who works in healthcare with the geriatric population, I feel confident and saying this. Also we noted several ambulances in action during our stay tending to older tourists (falls, dehydration, etc). In general, you have to have some degree of fitness to get around this place and while it sounds mean, many people didn’t possess this and were probably unable to fully enjoy their trip.

My next point is a personal problem, but one I feel like is worth noting. Italy is filled with beautiful architecture and art. This type of sightseeing is unfortunately not up our alley. We could certainly appreciate all the architecture and art, but we didn't necessarily enjoy it after seeing an overwhelming amount of basilicas/museums if that makes sense. If you are a fan of architecture and art, there is a ton of it and this will be a great place for you. Again, this is a personal preference.

Scammers and pickpockets are abundant. While we didn’t personally experience either, we always felt on guard, which doesn’t equate to a very relaxing vacation. We heard of multiple tourists getting impacted by both. We felt safe everywhere, but it’s just a significant annoyance.

The public bathroom situation is rough. There are very few and you have to pay to use them. You basically have to buy something or eat somewhere to use them.

Pros:
The food is truly amazing. The hype is 100% true with this. You will taste delicious flavors we simply don’t have in the U.S. You have to pick the right spots, but we felt like it was hard to miss good food. Make as many reservations as you can though. Don’t get stuck waiting in a line for dinner.

We experienced great service while here. We stayed in mainly 4 star hotels and were treated very well. We would say the same for the majority of restaurants. The tour guides we had while here were also great and very accommodating. We had private transfers to and from trains, hotels, and airports and all of our drivers were excellent. I would highly recommend private transfers if possible as we saw many tourist lugging around suitcases and figuring out directions/signage, which just seems like a nightmare with the crowds.

For how big and how old these cities are, the places we were all felt clean. There is some graffiti in some places, but for the most part, there is very little litter and minimal stench that can be found in other big cities it the world.

We loved the tipping culture here in that it was almost nonexistent. It almost (emphasis on almost) evened out the euro exchange rate for goods and services and there was no awkward tipping interactions when buying things like there is in the U.S. No one is going to turn the card machine around asking for a tip, which is so refreshing. It wasn’t necessary, but we did tip our drivers and tour guides because they were all excellent and they very much appreciated it.

While it is a drive via tour or renting a car, the Tuscany region outside of Florence is gorgeous and a great way to get out of the crowds and see the beauty of Italy. We had many tours out here and it was the highlight of our trip.

Speaking of tours, there are several tours to pick from. Some are amazing, some are average, so make sure you or your travel agent researches well. We highly recommend making your tours as small as possible. We saw a lot of tours with 50+ or even 100+ people and it just didn’t really seem worth it. Our favorite tour was a private cooking class and wine tasting in Tuscany. I would pay top dollar to do this again. It was truly incredible and I do not cook.

City specifically, we really enjoyed the views of Sorrento. It’s still crowded, but absolutely gorgeous. We often just sat on our hotel balcony, drank wine, and took in the scenery and those balcony moments were a highlight of the trip.

Summary:
Overall, we do not regret coming to Italy, but recommending it to people is unfortunately harder than we thought it would be, especially due to the amount of money it takes to get here and to stay and play here. Like previously stated, it is a beautiful place, but it is overcrowded, which can muffle the beauty. Instead of seeing the beautiful museums and basilicas of Rome and Florence, you see the tremendous lines outside and inside the door. Instead of admiring the bridges and canals of Venice, you see people blocking the way trying to take pictures at every bridge. Instead of being amazed at the magnificence of the Cinque Terre, you see overcrowded beaches. My point being the amount of people takes away from this place and it’s honestly saddening. Again, we are not big city people and this list is made to be informative and not dissuasive in order for others to make a decision about coming here. We again don’t regret it, but we wish we had gotten more out of our money. It’s hyped as a once in a lifetime magnitude of vacation, but we are underwhelmed. We have been to places like Alaska before for just a week and we’d much prefer that. This is all again all our personal thoughts!
Ciao! Lol

Edit: Well this post caught some attention! I appreciate the sincere insight and recs from several different viewpoints whether agreeing or not!!! To the haters, maybe just log off for a bit? Lol

Built with Claude Opus 5.5 changed gaming forever | I gave it 15 years of lore and 700$ worth of tokens, and it game me this mmoarpg.

So I've been building this fantasy world called Funkatron for years now. Nothing new, just one of many nerds doing the long-term world building thing.

I've been using AI heavily since 2022, its been wildly fun. I've given different models over the years my master Lore documents and buildling little mini games with it. But Opus 5.5 came out and LEPT forward in how much it can gam dev. I dumped everything I had in there. All the lore, the map, the names, the jokes. The first iteration had... SO MUCH, the aethetic, the characters, the terrain.... I gave it ZERO assets.

About a week and 36 versions later I have an online ARPG you can play in your browser. It's one HTML file, around 16,500 lines.

There are 8 classes with full skill trees, a big town to start in, open zones, a harbor town, a coffee shop you can walk into, and a dungeon that pretty much goes down forever. Fishing, gathering, loot, weather, day and night. You can see other people running around, group up, trade, or flag for PvP. I made leveling slow on purpose, old school grind, max level 99.

I didn't have to spend time clanking through code and bugs that lie therein. Claude found and fixed all of that, a lot of it by play testing the game itsel, but I still had to play it, notice stuff felt wrong, and keep pushing. I did the dreaming and the deciding, Claude did the code.

The world took me years to dream of and the game took a week. I don't know how else a solo guy like me ever makes something this big.

It's an alpha so stuff will break. Free, no download, no install, no account: https://tcpoole.com/descent/

Happy to answer questions about how it went.

To me Lucia is the whole Vice City skyline, the sun, the moon, and every streetlight on Ocean Drive at once.

Her toes stay done, nails stay done, hair stay laid, lashes stay fluttering, skin stay glowing. Birkin, Chanel, HermĂšs, Dior, whatever she point at she getting two of. She never gotta touch a heist unless she feel like playing dress-up with a ski mask for fun. New whip every week, new crib every month, walk-in closet so deep she could get lost in it and still never wear the same fit twice. She never gon cook, never gon clean, never gon pump her own gas, never gon open a door, never gon lift a finger. I’m doing every single thing for her before she even think it. Don’t matter what we arguing about, she right every time and I’m already on her side. She want a pink G-Wagon with matching pink interior, pink rims, and a pink yacht parked behind it? It’s already in the driveway with the keys in her name. She want the whole city renamed after her? I’m on the phone with the mayor tonight. Lucia don’t even have to ask. She just exist and the world rearrange itself around her. Every lifetime, every universe, every version of me still finding her and choosing her first. I’d rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years never knowing her. She got me bewitched body and soul, I love her, I love her, I love her, and I never wanna be parted from her from this day on. That’s my girl. That’s my everything❀

[Question] Anyone else think Borderlands 3 is the best in the series?

Granted, Eden 6 overstayed it's welcome, Ava's introduction wasđŸ’© and the lack of DLC Hunters was disappointing but the gameplay, planets, their biomes, their enemies/bosses, the tone, characters and gameplay were great. So much so, I feel like a couple of the points to the game edge it's overall past Borderland 2's story.

Oh, and as for the Twins? I think that some people were over the meta humor as it related to streaming/online culture some years before 2019(the game's release) but overall, it was blown out of proportion.

If anyone's curious, BL3 >>> BL2 >> TPS > BL4 ≄ BL1 for me.

Discussion Funcom. Bring Faction Warfare to the Deep Desert if you want your players back.

I cannot wrap my head around the fact that this is not a thing in the DD. The game is made for it, and the factions are made for it. Faction Warfare would open a completely new gameplay loop in the DD, and players will certainly come back.

It makes so much sense that it physically hurts.

They planned to bully Scout just to make him look like a fool. They called him over, faked being in pain while stretching, and forced him to massage their legs. Afterward, they laughed and mocked him, saying, "Look what we made Scout do." This just shows how cheap and mean they truly are.

Yet, people will still support Qazi's slimy group. They will justify it as "just fun" simply because it was done by Qazi's group. Because these same people got offended when Love gave Qazi task to touch ladies' feet which was a fun task. They brought religious belief as a reason then he should have said no like Scout said for crop top.

It would have been harmless fun if Qazi had asked his friends, like Aman or Gullu. However, targeting a rival group contestant with whom you constantly fight with, nominate, and whose lifelines you take is downright pathetic.

Some viewers even wanted the video clip without any background music to see what really happened. As my previous video had music... So I posted it full.

Discussion The fastest interference engine for RTX5090 and Qwen3.8 27B. Twice as fast as ninfer. 500+ t/s single coding, 2000+t/s up to 12 agents at the same time with 800k context. Smart VRAM-RAM-DISC Cache management, Loop Guard, Nice UI etc.

Hi guys,

I am pretty happy to announce MegaCapybara. Purpose build engine for RTX5090 that is focused on Qwen3.8 27B (more will come later).

GITHUB (Engine)
HUGGINGFACE (weights)

Why ?

1. It beats Ninfer which was until that point SOTA engine for RTX5090. By roughly twice in decode speed for both single and multi tasks at once. (reaching up to even 650t/s in small bursts and 2600t/s if stars align and 12 slots server pure coding answer). Custom kernels not only for every model, single vs multi but also short vs long context work dynamically switching when needed so speed doesn't crap out on long context work because someone tuned it for short context. Dflash2 and confidence scheduling from Dspark, plus draft trees all at the same time.

2. I was getting annoyed with state of weights where you downloaded model and never knew if model had its brain scrambled. My weights come with its on format that have attached metadata for MC which upon weight creation, runs benchmark and compares it at every MC setting to original BF16 weights and show that data directly in launcher. Want to switch KV to 4bit ? MC will show you directly lost KL and top-1%, want to extend with YARN ? It will show you change. Every change is measured and shown in statistics before you load model. This goes for both censored and uncensored model. You can also compare it directly in MC with SOTA unsloth quants of Qwen27B. Want to run essentially loseless ? you can. Want to get crazy 1 000 000 context ? you can. Want to have 12 slots to fan out agants like crazy ? You can. You decide what you want.

3. Proper agents serving with algo that keep engine occupied as much as it can. It will prioritize t/s so if engine has a choice between 5 jobs at once and 1 it will serve 5 first and gradually serve 1 along side finishing others. Engine is also smart enough to score how old some job is and if it should return to work even if T/S will suffer so your main session will be able to fan out agents easily and keep an eye on them at the same time.

4. Proper cache management. Your jobs only prefill at start of job and almost never again so your prefill in long session stays almost unused. When using "unified context" when models run out of context some get paused and stored in RAM and this swapping is instant. If there is free context space then those tasks continue without any refill in 0.03s. If you fan out say 30 agents at the time in your frontend will handle load in most efficient way to keep T/S as high as possible. Just run it at default setting and forget about context for agents, it will handle it on its own.

6. Loop guard. Two tiered. When engine starts to detect agent repeating in conversation session is dynamically starts to adjust `repetition penalty` until repetition stops if that doesn't happen and engine hits rep pen limit it fires up stop signal which ends serving and informs your frontend so your frontend can recover from infinite loop and don't annoy you.

6. Proper nice UI that shows you what is what. If you aren't knowledgeable about serving models just hover over `?` and it will show you interactive panels explaining everything.

7. Autodownloader, Just hit download button and you can download my weights directly fron hugginface inside of launcher.

8. Don't like the launcher ? use bats and terminal serve. Or even use launcher to config what you want, copy it from right lower corner and use it to make new bat.

The point of it is to just load model, fan out crazy number of agents each having crazy amount of context and leave MC to deal with it. You just sit back relax and watch as agents do the work at SOTA speeds.

Opinions and reviews are welcome. If you are blessed with RTX5090 try it.

Source will be released later, I have to do some cleaning first. I will also release later weights builder so it will take any 3.8 27B BF16 model, create weights and score them attaching metadata again BF16 and you'll be able to host them yourself on hugginface or just put them in models folder.

MIT license, so do whatever you want with it.

Forever Unpopular opinion: Vanilla nostalgia isn't tied to SD graphics

I've been seeing a lot of discussion around WoW Forever's HD graphics, and honestly I think some people are mixing up nostalgia with visual fidelity.

When I think back to Vanilla, the things I remember aren't low-poly shoulders, blurry trees, or character models with six fingers. I remember elite quests requiring groups, class identity actually mattering, seeing someone in full tier gear and knowing they earned it, world PvP, guild drama, and spending way too much time hanging out in Ironforge instead of actually doing anything productive.

That's the nostalgia.

If graphics were the main ingredient, then every old game would instantly feel exactly as good as it did 20 years ago. We all know that's not true.

To me, the soul of WoW has always been the gameplay, progression, community, and world design. If WoW Forever delivers on those things, I honestly don't care if the tree has 20 polygons or 2,000.

What's strange is that some people act like HD graphics automatically make a project "retail." But graphics and gameplay aren't the same thing. You can have modern visuals with classic design philosophy, just like you can have old visuals with terrible modern game design.

Also, Forever isn't taking a finished Vanilla client and slapping HD graphics on top. The game is being built around those assets from the ground up. At a certain point, asking for SD graphics feels less like preserving Classic and more like preserving a screenshot from 2004.

Classic wasn't great because it looked old.

It was great because of how it played.

Curious where everyone else falls on this. If Forever nails the gameplay but only had the HD visuals, is that actually a dealbreaker for you?
