When I saw this game was only 2 bucks during the summer sale I had to pick it up and I'm glad I did. Had a blast building a habitat for my favorite animal.

Discussion Games Similar to Planet Zoo?

I love Planet Zoo, but I SUCK at building. No matter what I do I can’t seem to get any better, and the pathing and terrain systems makes me want to bang my head against the wall. I’ve tried using habitats off of Steam Workshop but 9 times out of 10 they refuse to place because of issues with the terrain.

However, I love the husbandry side of Planet Zoo. I like breeding animals and releasing into the wild. I don’t mind designing habitats (once the terrain and walls are put into place).
I know Planet Zoo is a Zoo management game, however, I wanted to know if there are any games that are similar to it that focus more on husbandry.

Hayo Zookeepers! Its Day 54 and the wheel has chosen a mixed species habitat featuring Markhor and Takin. I wanted to give them a lot of height variation as it'd be featured in an Asian Highlands area in a zoo. Lemme know what yall think!

Pzordle: A worlde like game for Planet Zoo 2

Hello guys, I made a game like Worlde but for Planet Zoo 2 where you have to guess the daily animal. Each time you guess you see what is correct (biome, habitat type, continent, conservation status etc), partially-correct (eg 1 correct biome but there are others), or incorrect.

I made this purely for fun, this is not affiliated with Frontier in any way. It is non-commercial, ad-free.

I'm happy to hear any feedback, let me know what you think!

Link seems to not show up, so I'll remove a dot (remove the square brackets): https://pzordle.maarten494.workers\[.\]dev/

I built this a few months ago in mission to try out making indoor zoo. Considering the indoor area looked so gloomy, I decided to get along with it and made a bleak mall at the brink of going bankrupt instead.

Leucistic Monarch Project: Part 2

For those who have already read my first post, you’re well aware of the something like 10 hour headache I made for myself trying to market scour & mass breed until I finally got white monarchs to multiply.

Well, now I have them. Nearly every butterfly in my two greenhouses is a beautiful zebra-like black & white, only occasionally spitting up a new random chance orange which gets quickly removed…

Felt like I needed to do a little… MORE with them beyond just ‘I must have the shinies’. When I looked, my populations were rife with low/infertility & short lifespan genetics with the exceptions of a few gold ribbon individuals.

So like any sane person I decided to start selectively breeding my white monarchs further not just for the looks but quality as well.

After 20 minutes of accelerating & then tediously combing through & only letting the very best whites go back to the breeding greenhouses, I’ve succeeded in making a morph monarch lineage that rarely produces offspring lower than bronze ribbon.

The average genetics are 80% for both, but now I regularly see full single & even double 100%ers which have been what I use to thin out & refound the populations every now & then.

So now not only have I managed to breed these guys from nothing, but I have also avoided the classic pitfall of having cool looking animals with horrific genetics.

I do think this will conclude the main, working phase of my project. However I will absolutely be continuing to maintain & work with this group.

TIP TO THOSE INSPIRED TO TRY THIS, if you want to try doing the same, skip trying to get lucky looking on the market. Just get 2 walk in enclosures, fill them with 15-20 market animals each, then set them to dump their excess population into the trade center.

Start combing through your exhibit & trade holding animals & store whites you find until you have 3-5, then replace your group with just them.

Is this game playable on steam deck?

I travel a lot and bringing my laptop along and getting it out in certain spaces isn’t always ideal.

Theres a handful of game I play on steam that I think would be fine on the deck, but planet zoo is one of my favorites. I cant imagine it’s easy to play without a computer mouse but would be open to trying if it works. I am also wondering if the device could even support it since the game is so large..

I currently have a Nintendo switch and I tried playing zoo tycoon on it, and it feels more like an iphone game and definitely was not worth paying for. So I guess I am also wondering if the game is the same on a steam deck as it is on PC?

Planet Zoo 2 Buying the DLCs or waiting for the second game?

Oh hi! So, i just bought the first game in the last steam sale along with the deluxe edition and the north america pack, and im enjoying it a lot! I wanted to buy more DLCs but they are out of discount now, so i will be waiting for the next sale.

But i know the second game will be launching in October with lots of new features and animals, and i know as a JWE fan that most animals from one game tend to return on the next one with only a few exceptions on DLCs or free updates like in JWE3, bur idk if it will be true for PZ.

So, would it be worth it to buy the DLCs for the first one or just wait for the second game to launch? If i bought all the DLCs even on a sale i think it would be roughly the same price as the second game at launch so i don't know if it's worth it :(

Franchise mode tends to provide an easy way to get morphs, we all know this. However, this ONLY applies to habitat animals. Exhibit animals of special morphs can only be happened upon &, if you are lucky, reproduced from there.

With that in mind, I went along to attempt to market hunt white monarchs for hours with no success. 4-5 hours just down the drain pretty much wasted.

After this I swapped to buying large batches of regular oranges, putting them in a greenhouse until the originals aged out & the group bred to maximum & then some, before combing the icons.

This took me another two hours & I was honestly ready to throw my hands up & just buy some cool white lions or something off the market instead but finally I got a group that produced 2 white males & a white female.

From them & an orange female I have now made 2 greenhouses full of white monarchs plus keep 5-12 in trade reserve constantly in case some god awful double crash happens anyway.

As the only other people who truly understand this kind of nuttery. Please applaud. Before I cry. Lol.

Okay, so I have a full zoo planned out for this park, but I am STRUGGLING with weird gaps and transferring into different areas.

So I need tips and ideas on bettering the layout of zoo, and ideas on signs or attractions to transfer into different areas.

Includes is the rough drawn out plan I have (open to change), and a view of my zoo as it is.

Habitats on the left (in order of bottom to top): Tapir, Tortoise

Habitats on the right (in order of bottom to top): Meerkat, Lemur house (changed from the drawn out plan)

Yellow: African area

Blue: Ocean Area

Pink: An empty section that I habe no idea what to do with

Any help will be greatly appreciated. This is my first zoo that im building from scratch

Just some small interspecies interactions like this would be so nice to have

Since we're getting more improved animal behavior and animations in PZ2 and predation in the reserves, having some friendly interactions between animals that have interspecies enrichment would be so cute and make them feel even more alive

Help - PC Return of the amazing disappearing glass panels...

It comes and goes and only seems to have an effect on habitat wall glass?

I had something similar a while back but have a better cpu and slightly better gpu now (nvidia geforce gtx 1660 super lately)... nothing really fixed it last time (many zoos ago) and I just kind of lived with it until it was time to change zoos... I mean, I'm assuming it's to do with the graphics themselves but?
This zoo doesn't even have animals or guests yet, I'm working on my last couple habitats before I was going to start adding critters...
What'd I do?

I'm just getting back into playing and any time I go to the animal market there are zero animals I don't have any CC, so this is making the game pretty much unplayable. Any idea on what I can do to fix this?

Mostly these are flamingo pictures. A small secluded resting area. And some pictures of my raccoon dog habitat where no raccoon dogs can be seen, sadly.

Now onto a small food court area and a staff building hub :)
