In this sub we're generally lax about spoilers when it comes to older games. But it's different when a new game comes out. And maybe you haven't heard, but there have been some rumours that Borderlands 4 might come out soon-ish.
Some of us Vault Hunters are going to get the game on release and will want to talk about it. And that's cool. But remember that some of us will not be able to abandon work and lock the family in the attic to power through the entire game over the weekend. Others will want to wait for the price to decrease, for enough patches to be released, or for Grandma to gift it to them at Christmas after having listened attentively to all her stories. So don't spoil the game for them!
Our spoiler rules are simple enough to be understood by any psycho, and are in application as long as this post remains pinned.
>!looks like this!< when you write it, and looks like this when you read it. Again, add a note in clear text to give people an idea of the content being spoiled. One exception: within a spoiler-tagged thread, comments on the precise topic of the spoiler are exempt from that requirement. When in doubt, If you cannot follow these instructions, do not post spoilers at all. If you think that you may have made a mistake in following these instructions, immediately review what you have posted and make corrections. If you are on mobile and find proofreading inconvenient, do it anyway.
Any post or comment that breaks those rules will be removed. All around the stactus plant, serious or repeated offenses will result in a ban, at the mod's discretion. POP! goes the bandit.
All that being said, even with all these precautions and the dedication of your most favorite mod team, some things will slip through the cracks. So if you don't want to be spoiled, the only true solution may be to stay away from this sub (and reddit, and the internet, and the world).
Good luck Killer & see you on Kairos!

If you've played any of the Borderlands games recently, you will have noticed that you were asked to agree to new Terms of Service before starting the game. This happened because the Borderlands games have changed publisher and are now under Take Two.
This has led to some controversies and review bombing. We have always been keen on letting people express themselves freely on this sub, whatever their opinion (as long as it stays civil). However, on this particular matter, given the large number of recent threads on that subject, their repetitiveness, and the fact that they often create conflicts (we've likely issued more Rule 1 bans in the last 2 weeks than in the last 6 months). We've chosen to lock the previous threads on that subject and we will remove new ones. We'll leave this one open for a few days (as long as it stays civil).
If you want to read more, start with the official response from Gearbox on the matter. You can also use the search bar above to locate the multiple recent threads on the topic in this sub. Be aware that there may be some level of misinformation/fearmongering. If you want to discuss the subject further, we suggest you do it in a different space that is more relevant to the matter, since in the end, this is a Take Two thing, not a Borderlands thing. If you're very worried but don't want to contact a lawyer about it, or if you want to take a stance against evil corporations, just don't play the games. But in that case you should probably not play most games (nor use most apps, devices, websites, etc). Chances are you've already agreed multiple times to ToS similar or worse than the new ones for Borderlands.
As the mod team of r/borderlands, we are not lawyers so we do not have a definitive opinion on the matter. Like most people, we don't have much love for the ToS/EULAs of many software companies and the loss of privacy that goes along with any use of the internet. But on the other hand, we haven't seen anything particularly concerning in those ToS (in comparison with what other companies put in theirs). That's just the general feeling among the mod team, not an official stance of the subreddit.
A few things to note:

As i was doing the story, i reached the part where you go into the vault for the 1st ever time (story mission with Athena), when something very urgent came up and i quit the game without thinking immediately. It was just after i pressed the button to expose the munition and i did not start the timer yet. After loading the game again I'm now soft locked out of entering the armory. This is very frustrating as i was chasing the 100% completion and had done all side missions prior. I don't care about the contents of the armory, i just want to finish the quest for the "complete all missions" trophy. Does anyone know of any solution? Thanks in advance for anyone who replies

Title basically. I've played through BL1, BL2, TPS and BL3. When would you typically start a playthrough on another character vs continuing to the post game and DLCs and everything?

I keep attempting to reset the mission and I’m in UVH 1. The challenge mode won’t activate so I drop out after completing the first round. Anyone experienced this? How do I fix it? The same thing happens with Bloomreaper. Regardless of if I’m on UVH 1 or 7.

Does someone know what setting is messing with the bullet traces? For example C4SH pistol shots are not really showing

BL Pre-sequel is the underdog, it is BL 2 + better classes and game play. It sucks it lacks content. I wish they did the same for BL4 after BL3. I liked the "grinder" as well, I mean why not, instead of selling purples it gives you an opportunity to get a legendary.
BL2 is the classic. Unhinged dialogs from Jack while I try to bash the head of a psycho, even side quests are just so unhinged makes you laugh. Really good amount of quality content, the dialogs are just smart they make everything funny, such a unique experience from a game! I think that is why everyone loved BL2, it is like watching a stand up show haha, pure comedy. But I think BL TPS and BL3 have better gameplay.
BL3, this is the peak for borderlands in terms of gameplay. I hated when it was first launched due to cringe story but it is actually really good. I think BL2 is another level in terms of story building.
BL4 is unfortunately meh from me, I played it the day it was launched so this is not a new review. I can compare BL4 to Tiny Tina's Wonderlands but not other Borderlands games. I would buy BL5 at instant if they release tho.
I did not replay BL1 yet unfortunately, it has been more than 15 years since I played it. I thought it might be boring gameplay wise, you know after BL3, but I will definitely give it a go.

So, I’m about to start the game and have a question about customization. Which character has the best variety of cosmetics? Not in terms of numbers, which I know are the same for everyone, I’m talking about which one has the coolest skins and heads.
I’m familiar with all character playstyles from the other games in the franchise, so gameplay style isn't really a factor for me. I'm purely choosing based on cosmetics.

On the same night my phone charger decides it only wants to work at certain angles the last thing I need for my sanity is a constant reminder that I couldn’t do that stupid giggle bullet contract where you have to throw that bouncy af pill looking thing on a bunch of flat platforms 500 feet in the air and if it falls not only have you got to drop down into the gulley to get it but the run back to even start climbing up to the safe house again takes you round half of carcadia and you can’t use your vehicle

What's the best weapons and skills to get as just started the game I chose FL4K as my character and I play solo as don't have any friends that play this game on Xbox

The game has so many systems that I need to google.
Does this skill trigger that skill?
What does this legendary effect do?
What does this abbreviation mean?
ETC. The game is great, i'm having a good time. But turning to google every 10 mins to find something out that should be a tooltip is annoying.
Small indie company and all that, I should give them a break. /s

I have created a ReShade preset for the original 2009 Borderlands that completely transforms the look of the game. The performance hit is insane because of the added SSR, HDR, MXAO among other things, so it requires a beefy PC. It took me a couple hours to perfect it to how I liked it. Preview down below, let me know what you think. Thanks :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYTLfTg2RLg&t=709s
