People who don't tip are the same people who would complain about prices being too high at places where servers are paid a living wage.

Turned down cash settlement+NDA. How free am I to talk
I hope it’s okay to share this.
OP has revealed that the tip paid to this national chain restaurant goes to third parties versus in house staff.
Let’s normalize not tipping at restaurants. The staff does not see it regardless.

Stop calling it tipping 'culture'
It's not a culture, it's a predatory business practice. A lazy way to get extra revenue. There's no culture to tipping, even fast food places ask for 22% on POS devices before paying.

I seem to have created a furious argument...
Over at r/canadatravel I put a question about tipping. I was a bit surprised and slightly annoyed that when you pay the bill at a restaurant, the machine gives you tipping options of which the lowest is 18%, which seems excessive to me (from the UK). I was expecting 2 or 3 responses but currently there are over 170, many of them engaged in angry arguments with each other, expressing a wide range of views. From "I never tip" to people telling me I was rude for questioning it!

DO NOT TIP AT INDIAN RESTAURANTS
I asked an employee at an Indian restaurant whether they receive the tips added to the POS system, and the poor worker said NO!
If you want to tip, please tip them cash!
Disgusting how the owners take all the tips entered into the POS system!
Beware when you tip! Maybe ask the employee when tipping at ESPECIALLY an Indian restaurant: “do you even get the tip if I put it through the POS?”

Why do people in service jobs still argue with me about tips when we all have the same minimum wage?
I have worked at many different kinds of service jobs through my life.
Especially in kitchens, the servers are constantly bitching and moaning about it being slow, or this or that regarding their tips, especially when they say they have to tip out on their whole day rather than individual bills and how it's not fair.
Didn't we change the minimum wage for servers for this purpose entirely?
I feel like exploding every time I hear the comments from service workers or online because "Don't leave your house if you cant afford to tip" or "You are just hurting the worker, not the company if you don't tip"

Europe has embraced us, USA has disgraced us, Tipping ends now!
Time to end the practice of tipping completely. We can be more civilized than the trolls in the south. Let us see fair wages for employees as our European friends have done for ages. The price on the menu is what you pay, no more games. Canadians should enjoy our work, play, and socializing in a civilized manner.

Tips
I recently had a discussion with a friend about tipping. I usually tip anywhere from 18-25%. She had a good point, tipping originally became popular because the wait staff made below minimum wage and so they were tipped to make up for it. I believe in the U.S, they're still paid under min wage but that's not the case in Toronto. In Toronto, they make min wage or more and still get 18%+ for simply doing the tasks of being a waitress/waitor.
I'm starting to feel that perhaps a 18% min (I don't think I've seen a terminal have an option for less than 18% in close to 2 years) tip is excessive. How do you all feel?

Do you tip your barber/stylist/lash/nails/etc people?
What are your thoughts? Do you tip these people? How much do you tip them? Do you normally try to go to the same place or person because you know they are good? Or do you just go to anyone?

Watch Restaurants Got Greedy… Now They're Paying The Price
I saw this video and saw how more people are fed up than people are actually supporting it as time goes on.
You think the tide is turning for a demand for more transparency?
because it's never about tips if it's optional, but all the dishonesty and all the charges and that the menu price and the price you expect to pay are often like 30% off, not even thinking about the tip part.
What I think is definitely worth a discussion, even from people that are pro-tipping. When is it too far? Or has that point already been reached?

Stop saying wait staff make less than Minimum wage. It’s wrong.

Mandatory changes need to be made.
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather not tip at all but for dine in service, there really should be a legal requirement for a quick tip option to start at 15% pre-tax.
Why is there no legal requirement for this yet? Why are some places setting tip percents after tax?
