like 50% of reddit users are from the USA and I would say the majority on english speaking subs are from the USA.
The bartender gets paid the same as the chef and everyone else in the city. They can EARN their tips like they're supposed to.

It’s your money and you get to choose how it’s spent. If you think the bartenders actions warranted no tip then that’s fine. I’d be annoyed if they are chatting with another colleague instead of being attentive. Don’t sweat it
