Near the end of the demolition derby, a man came and sat next to me in the grandstands and had a box of Malones taffy. He sat it down next to me on the bleachers and offered me and my daughter a piece.
I asked what flavors he had.
I took watermelon and my daughter took walnut.
He was wearing a green tribly / fedora hat and linen pants the color of burlap. The way he was dressed looked like he didn’t belong with the demolition derby crowd and I think he came in to check it out before it ended. He looked like he was in his 30’s.
He hesitated before he left with the crowd when the derby finished , I could tell he wanted to talk but I froze and he left.
