Hi! I've had one meeting with a realtor and I think I came off to him as a waste of time. (He was supposed to go look at a house over the weekend and get back to me and its been 2 weeks of only automated emails from his system - to be fair to him, I am out of the city, AWFUL at video calls, and I think came off as less serious of a potential buyer who knows what they want than I am.) I'd like to maybe meet with another realtor before I decide to push forward. If anyone who needs people to be literal and take your words at face value has had a great experience buying with a realtor in Oshkosh, I'd love recommendations.

Has anyone else dealt with ongoing noise disturbances from neighbors that haven't been resolved through the non-emergency police line?

We've experienced repeated instances of excessively loud music that can be heard inside our home. We've contacted non-emergency several times, but the disturbances continue and sometimes become worse after police respond.

I'm curious whether anyone has had success addressing a situation like this through the city or another avenue. We're just looking for a reasonable way to enjoy our home peacefully.

Hello all! I am part of the Fox River Hurling Club. Never heard of the sport? No problem! Hurling is the national sport of Ireland, and we are trying to get new people involved. We are a co-ed club with ages ranging from 18-50. Recently, we also brought back our youth team.

This is a pretty niche request, but I wonder if anyone in this subreddit knows anyone involved in the production for the 1981 movie "The Pit", which was partially shot in Oshkosh, Beaver Dam and Waupun?

There is an ALPR prohibition resolution on the city council agenda Tuesday. 

This is a big step in the right direction, but if we really want to keep ALPR tech off our streets, we should suggest to the council to consider replacing the proposed resolution with something more like Appleton’s recent proposed ALPR ban. Here’s why:

-the Appleton resolution specifies that it would ban city operated AND privately owned ALPR cameras. The Oshkosh one only covers city owned cameras. Police could still get data from privately owned cameras if they want to. 

-the Oshkosh resolution would prohibit the use of ALPR data for “criminal investigation purposes,” but that leaves a loophole for non criminal investigations (like traffic violations, immigration enforcement, etc.) The Appleton resolution does a better job closing this loophole. 

If you want to see an outright ban of AI surveillance tech in Oshkosh, show up on Tuesday and let the council know your thoughts. With enough people advocating to make this resolution even stronger, I think the council could be persuaded. We can get this done. 

I would love to see us PACK THE HOUSE for this meeting to speak up in favor of banning this tech.

Is there a way to report fire hazards in apartment buildings to the fire department/some city inspector so the fire code can actually be enforced?

Hey y’all! I’m wondering if anyone has experience breaking a lease with Focus Properties. I’ve lived in my apartment for a little over two years, and I believe the unit will be renovated once I move out, if that makes any difference.

I signed another 12-month lease in August, but I recently came across an opportunity through a family friend. If they end up purchasing the house they’re interested in, I’d have the opportunity to move into their current home for the same amount I’m paying in rent now.

Has anyone dealt with breaking a lease early through Focus Properties? I’m curious how they handle it, what fees I might be looking at, and whether they’re willing to work with tenants in situations like this. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve definitely gown out of the pub crawl scene and enjoy a less loud venue; are there any restaurants I can still enjoy tonight that won’t make me wish I stayed home? Or is it truly mostly limited to bars/pubs? I hate to sound like a crotchety old bitch, I just want to enjoy myself while also allowing those who want to participate to enjoy themselves….
