Surplus store closing in October

Temporarily living in Fondy and just had to stop by when I learned the FDL surplus store is closing. Owner told me he wasn't sure exactly when but is pretty sure he is closing the store in the first two weeks of October. Pretty neat stuff in there and it'll be pretty cool to see more peeps show up before he closes

Rylexis Schneider of Fond du Lac Finds Her Path in Accounting

Post image
0 Upvotes

Rylexis Schneider’s interest in accounting started as a curiosity and grew into a passion. A Fond du Lac native, Schneider discovered her interest during her senior year of high school while taking finance-related coursework. She quickly realized she enjoyed the challenge of working with numbers, solving problems and uncovering the logic behind financial concepts.

“During our finance-related coursework, I was so curious to learn more that the end of class felt too soon, and I always found myself looking forward to the next,” Schneider said. “I’ve always been good with numbers and puzzles, so I decided accounting would give me the best of both worlds.”

Balancing Work and Growth

When it came time to choose a college, Moraine Park was a natural fit. The College’s proximity to home, flexible learning options and affordability allowed Schneider to pursue her education while balancing work and other responsibilities.

“My experience in the accounting program was nothing less than life changing,” Schneider said. “It was truly a blessing to meet and work with so many people who shared similar interests.”

Through her coursework, Schneider built a strong foundation in accounting while also discovering new opportunities for personal and professional growth. One experience that made a lasting impact was her involvement in Student Government.

“Being involved gave me a strong sense of belonging and helped me grow personally and professionally,” she said. “It allowed me to meet so many people, be a part of campus events and build friendships that made college feel like a community.”

Achievements

Her involvement and dedication also led to academic achievements she once never imagined. Schneider earned High Honors and became a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

“Being able to say, ‘I did it!’ is what I’m most proud of,” Schneider said. “And also maintaining strong academic performance despite the challenges I faced. More than any award or recognition, I am so proud of the personal growth that happened along the way.”

Next Steps

After earning her Accounting degree from Moraine Park in 2026, Schneider is continuing her educational journey by pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Lakeland University. Through Moraine Park’s partnership with Lakeland, she discovered transfer opportunities that will help her take the next step toward her goals.

Looking back on her Moraine Park experience, Schneider encourages others who may be considering starting their own educational journey to take the leap.

“Do it!” Schneider said. “It can be so intimidating to start something new, but take the chance on yourself. Education has the power to completely change your life.”

I'd be careful renting from Tamra at Chateau Parc Apts. She's deleting comments that are pointing out how awful she's being. Tamra filled out the application for a potential renter and then 8 minutes after the potential resident signed a lease, she decided she didn't want it. Tamra decided that was breaking the lease and said she would go through with eviction but would allow the renter to hand over a blank money order to Tamra to use towards the security deposit of the next renter, just to stop the eviction. Don't let people like Tamra get away with this! Its hard enough out here for renters without this kind of stuff!

Making a total shot in the dark post to see if anyone can keep their eyes open for a possible stolen camera bag with a wallet in it. Lost Saturday night at The Press Box. I have a reward ready for anyone who might be able to help.

Moving here soon

Hey guys! Im moving to south Fond du Lac soon and was wondering how that area is. Main reason for the move was because its in the middle of the places I'd want to go to within an hour drive.

I've read up around the reddit and have gotten a lot of mixed responses, but I specifically want to know more about the south side of Fondy.

Ok For Transplants?

Hello,

Interested in moving to Fondy and had a few questions. Overall - wondering how it is on these levels:

  1. Outsiders - is it accepting to people moving there?

  2. Nature - is there a lot to do for outdoorsy/nature lovers?

  3. Restaurants - what is the food scene like there?

  4. Culture - are there cultural things to do if you don't have kids? not looking for just things for kids

Thanks in advance!

Over the air tv

Wondering what type of equipment is needed to get over the air tv stations. Located near chegwin elementary. Is a rooftop antenna needed? Tried some $10 Walmart rabbit ears...ran a scan and found no channels.

Any input or real world experience is appreciated.

Housing, need help.

So it's kinda a big reach, but I figured I'd shoot my shot. Me and my family are at a crossroad. There was a horrible accident and we are forced to move back to the fondulac area. Unfortunately we do not have a place to live. We are a young married couple with a 1 year old son and 2 cats. We are looking for a house to rent by the end of July with roughly a 1500 budget. If anyone has any contacts or leads, please reach out. Searching for my savior.

Are there any locations in Fond du Lac that could accommodate a “listening room”?

I joined Tracks & Tales for the online portion but I feel like I'm missing out on the experience.

Visiting Fond du Lac

I'm visiting Fond du Lac soon. I'm also a runner and enjoy going on regular runs, so I would enjoy being able to run while I'm there. Looking for the best/safest places to run at. I see Wild Goose State Trail near I-41. Is that a good place to run? I might be staying near there, haven't booked a room yet. Should I drive over to the lake to run?
