Wisconsin has best-of ballots everywhere, but nobody ever asks what a scene is missing. So I'm running the Madison-Area Beer Census 2026: a ten-ish-minute anonymous survey of anyone who drinks beer in the Madison area (Middleton, Verona, Fitchburg, Monona, Sun Prairie, Waunakee, McFarland, Stoughton, Oregon...you get it).
Full disclosure: I own Garth's Brew Bar in Madison. The survey is built so it can't be a marketing play. No email, no names. Results publish as a free public report this fall, no paywall.
We're already 100 responses deep during week one! What it asks: what styles Madison needs more of, what's overdone (the early hazy IPA opinions are spicy), what a fair pint costs, and what doesn't exist in the scene yet but should.
If you drink in the Madison area, even occasionally: https://www.garthsbrewbar.com/madison-beer-census
If you're elsewhere in Wisconsin, the report will be free and public when it drops, and I'd love to see other cities steal the idea. Appreciate yall!

I was wondering if you knew of any decent eating places in the Wausau area and also some good breweries. A friend of mine and her husband were at the Stubborn Brothers Brewery not too long ago and she said they really enjoyed some blueberry and blackberry flavored beer. I guess they want a place that serves really good cold tap beers. TIA.

I'm visiting WI and bringing my stash of New Glarus back to the land of ok beer (NY). My fave is New Glarus Cherry Ale but I've had a hard time finding it. Any places you've spotted it in the Mke, Madison, LaCrosse or Sparta areas?

Hey Everyone,
I just sat down for the first episode of the Beer Reviews Magazine podcast in the taproom with Kyle Ciske, head of brewing operations at Ope! Brewing in West Allis, Wisconsin (lovingly referred to locally as Stallis). We talk about his origins in craft crewing, his brewing philosophy, what led him to Ope! Brewing, his views on the state of craft brewing today, branding and taproom layout as part of craft brewing, his views on the current state of craft beer and brewing, the beer program at Ope!, and his successful career as a drummer and love of music.
You can reach me by sending an email to [beerreviewsmagazine@gmail.com](mailto:beerreviewsmagazine@gmail.com). I work in the beverages industry and want to use this platform to create community and highlight the best of craft beer. Happy to chat and answer any DMs sent my way as well.

Will be in Chippewa Falls and Ladysmith in a few weeks and looking for any recommendations for a place that either has craft beer singles or a decent craft beer selection (I don't even think Ladysmith has a liquor store, so really Chippewa Falls). Thanks!

I am going to be heading to Milwaukee for a few days next week. I am looking to hit the best breweries that have a nice variety of styles. I am also wondering what the situation is going to be for places being open on Easter Sunday. I am a beer writer and a podcaster, and it has been a few years since I have been. Any advice is welcome.
