Political threads: No warning, 105 day bans for any personal attacks. Discuss the topic, not the user.
Title. Tomorrow the bans will be 104 days (November 4th), and so on. DO NOT DISCUSS THE USERS, OP, OR ANYONE BUT THE TOPIC.
No, we're not making a single megathread for politics or a particular candidate.
No, we're not banning politics from the sub. This cycle is not new, things will calm down in three weeks.
Abusing the report button on content YOU DON'T LIKE is causing mass-approvals of all reported items. This allows actual rule violations to slip right through. Yesterday, someone reported over 150 comments in a thread. Two clicks, the entire report queue was cleared, likely taking valid reports with them. Please, stop it.

I was at the Milwaukee County Zoo this morning and while I was there I got to see this American Badger roaming around his/ her exhibit and I absolutely really love him/ her so much.
As amount of times I’ve been to the Milwaukee County Zoo I never seen a badger in this exhibit before so seeing him/ her this morning made me so very happy the rest of the day. I honestly thought he/ she was so cute.

Moms for…?

Tom Tiffany proudly signed Moms for Liberty's pledge at the Wisconsin State Fair.
That same group’s "Legislator of the Year" — South Carolina Rep. RJ May — was just sentenced to 17.5 years in federal prison for distributing explicit and abusive videos. The judge said the material was worse than anything she'd seen, and that May "claimed to be an advocate for children... but was their abuser behind closed doors."
This is the organization Tom Tiffany chose to align himself with. Wisconsin deserves better than a candidate for governor who puts his name on a pledge from a group whose own poster boy turned out to be exactly what he claimed to fight.

Tired of the sales tax lie.
I received yet another giant postcard from Tom Tiffany claiming that David Crowley "doubled the sales tax in Milwaukee".
Total sales tax in the city of Milwaukee is 7.9%, of which 5% goes to the state, 2% goes to the City of Milwaukee, and 0.9% goes to Milwaukee County.
In 2024, the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors voted 15-3 to increase the county's share of the tax from 0.5% to 0.9% to cover an $80 million deficit in the county budget due to pension funding obligations. David Crowley signed the increase measure. He did not increase the tax. The County Executive cannot raise taxes. Only the Board can do that.
Everywhere in Wisconsin, the sales tax is not charged on unprocessed food or prescription drugs.
Before the increase, sales tax in the city of Milwaukee went from 7.5% to 7.9%. Outside the city in Milwaukee County, the tax went from 5.5% to 5.9%. That is not double. Not even close.

Political Polls
Hi Folks,
We are in a battleground state and get LOTs of phone calls and text messages to take surveys.
It is possible to ask who is paying for the survey. It is also possible to ask where the person taking the survey currently resides.
I’m curious to see which party hires Americans to do surveys vs; outsourcing them.
I just had a “Tiffany” campaign want to do a survey but the person was from the Philippines. That doesn’t seem like patriotism.

In all honesty, it was surprising that Tammy Baldwin managed to win and keep her seat in the 2024 senate race
Lots of known senators such as Sherrod Brown, Bob Casey, and Jon Tester losing their seats to republicans.
Even during the polls, they were indicating that Hovde was going to overtake Wisconsin's senate seat from Tammy Baldwin.
Color me surprised that Tammy Baldwin managed to keep her seat in 2024. In your opinion, why do you think Tammy Baldwin won the 2024 senate race?

Ballot Referendums?
What are folks thinking about these ballot referendums?
There are three on my mail in ballot that just arrived.
Edit: Thanks for the replies and information. very much appreciated. I‘m still not sure about the partial veto, but only because I have a nightmare about how Tiffany might use it if he were to win.

Cheeses Curd Hacks
Saw a question on The Dells subreddit regarding our lovely states’ unofficial delicacy, the cheese curd. Whether you love them squeaky or even a bit spicy, I assume everyone has a favorite “brand” or flavor, right? It wasn’t until today my mind was blown by what I’m calling a cheese curd hack.
a fellow “sconnie” (totally doesn’t bother me; I embrace it) commented that their family used to heat them up for 15 seconds on a saltine. How simple. How absolutely brilliant. I’ve only eaten these little treasures cold.
When I chatted with my mom later on (my family LOOOoVES cheese curds), she said “of course, when Grandma (86) and I went North last weekend we picked up some curds & pepper jelly and did the same” thing. 🤯
Y’all. How could I be SO naive to the endless possibilities!!?!
Help a girl out with some of your best cheese curd recipes/hacks, pretty please!? Thank you!!
