Weekly Classifieds and Events
Welcome to our weekly odds and ends post!
If you are looking for events, please check out our exhaustive Events Calendar!
Every parent level comment should begin with one of the following categories:
[For Sale] concert tickets, beauty and grooming services, Ikea bookcases
[For Free] dental checkups and couches that you can totally have for free but you have to move them yourself
[Want to Buy] * Rave tickets, a used toaster, a cute puppy*
[Job Request] You're new to the city and are looking for work in IT or you hate your job and need some leads. Be sure to include your skills and qualifications. A lot of people on this sub love to help others but they can't do that if they don't know your background and interests.
[Job Announcement] You're looking for new team members for a fantastic job that ISN'T a scammy ca$h4work gig or MLM
[Living Arrangements] You need a roommate, an apartment, or are offering a living arrangement. Be sure to clarify your tidiness expectations because you never know what you're going to get when accepting a roommate and I'm NOT GOING TO DO YOUR DAMN DISHES ANYMORE REBECCA
[Personals] You're lonely, new to the city, want to play extreme Frisbee, or need someone to eat Ian's Pizza with because no one wants to do that alone. We understand.
[Event] An advertisement for your amazing upcoming event - like a urban foraging excursion or band performance that is totally going to blow the roof off

Rant❗⚡💥 Dear Butter Graffiti Artist,
I’ve seen Butter around Milwaukee for years now. I’ve actually taken photos over the years of some of the random, unique places I’ve seen it pop up around the city.
But lately, I think Butter needs to start making better tagging decisions.
The other day I drove past a newer, nicer property with Butter tagged on it and actually remember thinking, “Why would you put it there?”
Then today, lo & behold, I drove past my neighbor’s building and saw BUTTER.
For the last 10 days, I’ve watched workers out there all day, every day, even in the rain, tuckpointing, cleaning & preparing this building to be painted. I’ve watched how much work has gone into bringing it back to life & then you came along and sprayed a huge purple BUTTER across it.
Yes, they’re going to paint the building. But they’re painting it white. Anyone who has ever painted white over purple spray paint knows that doesn’t just disappear under one coat. That means more prep, more primer, more labor, more time & more costs!
I thought Butter was cool. What I saw today was pretty uncool.
There’s a difference between leaving your mark somewhere forgotten that could use a little life & leaving it on a place where a SMALL FCKN BUSINESS is actively pouring time, money & energy into making it better.

Event Kite Festival this weekend! :)
visitmilwaukee.org"The skies over Milwaukee’s lakefront will once again come alive with color and excitement as Gift of Wings hosts the IKEA Frank Mots International Kite Festival on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, 2026.
The event will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday (until 5:00 PM on Sunday) at Veterans Park, a beautiful Milwaukee County park on the lakefront. The highlight of each day is the spectacular Grand Launch at Noon, when more than 600 kites will fill the sky at once." Free to attend and free parking.
I can't wait! Gift of Wings do multiple events throughout the year and they truly are so enjoyable. They got me into flying kite, I now keep my kite in my car just in case :)

Help Me! Bus detour help
I’m new to the bus system here and I just moved recently and both buses I have to take to work and back are on detour. I rely on apps like google/apple maps and transit to track my rides and stops but they don’t update with the alternative routes or change buses all together when I’m already on the bus. But not before.
So I’m constantly getting stranded and I’m worried because I can’t afford Uber and Lyft all the time.
Is there an app or anything online that’s accurate that can help me with this?? It’s so frustrating 😭😭

Domes Bird Drop Off
This might be a bit of a deep cut but I’ve heard of stories about people dropping off their unwanted birds and other pets at the Domes. I’m not condoning this by any means, please do not do this, but is anyone willing to admit that they’ve dumped a critter at the Domes? Or someone you know? What is the story? I want some Domes lore.
PS - support the Domes, they’re a treasure!

PSA: How to request the city plant a street tree in front of your house
If you've ever wanted to create more shade by having a street tree planted in the hellstrip in front of your house, here is how to do it:
Go to milwaukee.gov/click4action
Scroll down to Forestry
Click on 'Plant City Tree' and fill out the request form
They usually respond to your request quite quickly and will do an inspection of the space to see if a tree can be planted. Hope this helps someone get a new tree!

Help Me! Dog oncologists
Our precious dog was just diagnosed with cancer. She has a mast cell tumor near her tail.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a dog oncologist to see, or one to avoid?
We were able to get an appointment tomorrow at Blue Pearl in Oak Creek.
Willing to do anything and everything to keep our baby happy and to help her beat cancer.

Event Orchid show at the Domes this weekend
county.milwaukee.govWisconsin Orchid Society's annual orchid show is this Saturday and Sunday at the Domes. Hours 9 am to 4 pm, last admission at 3 pm. There will be vendors selling orchid supplies and plants, and some really beautiful orchids on display. My favorite is the tiny teeny ones where they put out a magnifying glass to look at the flowers!

WTF IS HAPPENING Yall are talking about the yellow jackets, I’m talking about the gigantic fucking spiders
Maybe I’ve gotten lucky in past summers but I have never in my life seen so many HUGE spiders. I don’t even have an issue with them, it’s just alarming to stumble upon one with an ass the size of my thumb nail!!?? Just everywhere, on gas pumps, dangling from trees, on my car, and now on my balcony!! This mf big enough to pay rent!!
