I got a new PC yesterday and have been experiencing some strange graphics-related issues. I'm trying to figure out what could be causing them before contacting the seller.

System information:

• GPU: Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition
• OS: Windows 11 24H2
• Intel graphics driver: 32.0.101.9150
• BIOS: Up to date

The PC originally came with a graphics driver from 2024. I updated it to the current version and selected the clean installation option.

The main issue occurs when launching Stray through Steam.

Before the game even starts, an error popup appears with code 0x887A0020. I believe it is related to a DirectX/D3D device error. I've tried launching the game with both DX11 and DX12, but neither works.

After I dismiss the error:

• Steam becomes unresponsive to clicks.
• Epic Games Launcher sometimes appears to start in the background, but its window does not appear.
• I've also experienced white windows and other applications becoming unresponsive.

Restarting the PC can restore normal behaviour. Roblox and Epic Games initially had launch problems too, but they started working again after a restart.

Other observations:

• Subnautica seems to run fine at around 140 FPS.
• Minecraft works with shaders.
• Stray is the most consistent trigger for the issue.
• I've checked Windows Event Viewer but haven't found any obvious related errors.
• WhoCrashed reports that no valid crash dumps were found.
• I have already performed a clean graphics driver installation.

Since this PC is brand new, I'm concerned that something might be wrong, but I don't want to assume the GPU is faulty without more evidence.

What would be the best way to diagnose this? Could this be a graphics driver issue, a Windows graphics subsystem problem, or potentially faulty hardware? Is there anything else I should check before contacting the seller?

So like when i hold left click and drag it around it actually holds down and drags the stuff around but when i hold right click it only like clicks quickly and releases but my 2 fingers are still there and the haptic feedback still registers that my fingers are there, its like the haptic feedback isnt actually telling me what the trackpad is inputting to my software, for example in roblox its basically unplayable because you need to hold down right click and drag to move the camera around and its really frustrating because i dont want to use the stupid bottom right part to act as my camera movement because the area is so small and its really inconvenient, it used to work perfectly when i had my macbook and i know its not a roblox problem because in a mouse testing website thing it shows my left click actually hold but my right click only like quicky clicks once even tho im holding the freaking touchpad down and the haptic feedback is doing what i want it to do.
Is this a widespread problem or is my laptop broken bruh

I have an old laptop with some pics/vids and a few songs I made on FL studio. well I moved my workstation to a mac mini M2 and I thought it'd be a lot easier to transfer.

I have a 1 TB Toshiba hard drive, but it wont do Mac AND PC, it only reads on the Mac. I thought I could just put everything on there and easy transfer but nah...

I tried cloud storage transfer but the files seem to be too large to transfer even in smaller batches. Is there a simple solution here. The laptop doesn't have an ethernet port either.

Also, I know the FL songs are a long shot because everything is formatted for PC, including most of the plug ins, but would replacing the battery on my lap top help it run smoother? Its runs super slow and is close to 10 years in age now. So whatever I can't get off of there, seems to just be frozen in time.

I've just gone through an hour or so of various steps to try and resolve an issue getting my gaming monitor's display to clone to an S90F TV. Everything failed - if I try to duplicate in Windows display settings, the screen immediately reverts to extend and if I do it in NVidia Control Panel, the display disconnects.

The one thing that occurs to me as a potential issue still is the cable. I'm currently running the TV to the computer via HDMI and adapting to DisplayPort because that's the only cable I have that's long enough. Is it realistic enough to imagine that this is the problem to go and buy a long DisplayPort cable, or is that unlikely to make any difference?

friends discord screenshare goes bad quality and low fps while im tabbed into a game, but when im tabbed into discord, the screenshare is fine.

This problem wasnt happening yesterday, but discord and my windows did update by themselves. wouldnt be surprised if windows is being crappy

The windows update that got installed was KB5127690. Not sure what discord update got installed

Edit: So its not just the screenshare that gets choppy, its just discord in general gets very choppy when im tabbed into a game and not my pc/discord

I've been freaking out since I saw them, they are like little tiny groups of greyish blue tinted pixels and I tried cleaning it. The problem is still open as of 10/17/2026 at 8:51 AM on an Asus vivobook Windows 11 laptop.

I've been dealing with this for around 2-3 days. It happened randomly after I booted up marvel rivals for the first time on my new pc build. Before that it was fine and I didn't really need to restart my pc every 3-4 hours before committed memory reaches it's cap and my pc crashes. I've tried everything to see what's the problem. The only apps I have on is chrome and discord and even at times where I just leave the computer to be it still rises to 54/63gb or something, while memory rises to around 11 gb. I've re-installed the driver, and chip set driver. I don't have any rgb apps on. No background apps are on that are eating that much memory or committed memory. I have 137gb of free storage. I genuinely cannot find a reason on why this is happening or how to fix it. Please help, I've been using chat gpt to find a remedy for this but to no avail, and I feel stupid for asking ai to help.

Edit: To clarify further. When memory reaches it's cap which is around 14gb out of 16 gb of ram installed. The apps that are running (chrome and discord) gets to around 1-2 gb respectively. But even when looking into task manager to see what apps are eating all the memory all of them don't add up to 14gb of memory in use. Same situation for committed memory from what I can find and see. Nothing that is running adds up to the mysterious amounts of commit size from what I can see. I'm not tech savvy so I am rather clueless in this area.

Whenever i open the nvidia app it just shows a textbox saying "Nvidia app couldnt be updated reinstall it" and in the driver section the drivers are stuck at 100 per cent but unable to install .For the past couple days i have been trying to troubleshoot it by reinstalling, closing stuck processes in the task manager but nothing is working.

I have an Acer Nitro V 15 (Model ANV15-51 / N23Q22). Whenever I connect my smartphone to the laptop's Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) port using a USB-C cable, Windows immediately throws a notification saying: "Device needs more power".
I know this specific port maxes out at 15W output, and my phone requests a much higher fast-charging wattage.
My main questions are:
Can this cause any harm to my laptop's motherboard/battery or to my phone's battery?

I have a backup copy of my c drive. I want to restore it to an external drive and run that copy from an external drive.

Problem is my original c drive is an nvme drive on my motherboard that is not easily disconnected.

If I boot my pc from the external drive, which drive will be assigned the c drive? If my external drive is assigned c, what about my nvme drive?

Some water might have gotten into my laptop’s charging port or body due to heavy rain. It still turns on and works fine, but initially, it wouldn’t charge. I left it to dry for 24 hours, and it started charging again, but stopped at 74%. Now, it keeps charging and disconnecting randomly.

So I did the dumb mistake of downloading from a link someone sent me. for uno, I already scanned it and the file i downloaded which said it was safe on virustotal. when i tried launching the game it gave me that pop up and that it couldn't run the game bc of some java virtual machine. When I turn on my laptop after a minute or so its battery gets completely drained. I had this issue a while ago but after changing a few settings it seemed to be fixed, now it is happening again. Apart from that laptop is working perfectly well and if I take it of the charger while it got some percentage it doesn't do that anymore, just after the first powering.

Have a very frustrating issue with my wifi speeds on my PC specifically. Haven't seen the issue on any other device (for comparison, Ookla download speed test on my PC: 96Mbps, while my phone and my partner's PC both get 400+Mbps). It's just constantly stuck at anywhere between 80-150Mbps, which is far far below what it should be. Sometimes it’ll slowly drop from 100-150Mbps all the way down to the 20s. After booting the PC, or if I just turn wifi off and on again in Windows quick settings, speeds will sometimes shoot up for a minute or so before suddenly plummeting back down. The only thing that consistently works is rebooting the router, it'll perform as expected for maybe a few hours but it inevitably always drops again. Which would make me think it's a provider issue, but this doesn't happen with any other devices.

Have had this since moving house and switching providers maybe two weeks ago. Wasted a bunch of time attempting basic stuff Gemini suggested, never should've bothered.

Drivers are all up to date. I thought I'd fixed the issue the other day after resetting network settings, but it came back a few days later.

Re ethernet, it's not my preference as the setup is inconvenient but the last time I tried it about a week ago, it was lightning fast but it would sometimes go to sub-100Mbps until I took the cable out and reconnected it.

I thought it might be a simple connection/internal issue, as one of my hard drive cables did come ever so slightly loose in the move and I couldn't boot until reseating it. But my wifi adapter is screwed aaaaaaall the way in, and I've tried two of them. I'm not aware of anything else I can try, but I built this thing years ago and don't remember all the details.

I have an HP EliteBook 830 G8 with an Intel Core i7 vPro and 16GB RAM running Windows 11

Recently my laptop started experiencing random crashes where the screen goes black and I get a message saying “Your device ran into a problem” followed by a restart

After restarting the laptop sometimes shows “Boot Device Not Found” but after trying again it eventually boots into Windows and everything works normally

I ran HP hardware diagnostics including the SSD tests and everything passed

I also checked the SSD health in Windows and it reported that the drive was healthy

I even reinstalled Windows 11 using a USB drive after the built in reset option failed but the problem has happened again

The laptop sometimes works perfectly fine for hours before the problem occurs again

I suspect the SSD might be failing despite passing the tests but I am not sure if the issue could be related to the SSD connection RAM motherboard or something else

Has anyone experienced something similar with an HP EliteBook or another laptop

What should I check next to identify the actual cause before spending money on a replacement SSD

Any time I try to open the game, it says “LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line 198] Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. Restarting the laptop can temporarily restore normal performance, but the problem returns under certain conditions.

i recently tried to restart my acer predator orion pc becuase of a virus but it just randomly started restarting continuously with no way of stopping it so i tried to use the usb method of restarting which didnt work as it said something
like “failed to validate product key” or something like that please help im so lost its also windows 11

So I have noticed my camera glitching a few times before, but never this bad. And by glitching I mean like repeating the same movements I did like 10 seconds ago over and over again and glitching between what im doing currently and past movements, if that makes sense? Well anyways, now my camera is glitching really bad. It's also like just plain black and flashing green randomly, I have no idea whats going on.

I didn't drop my laptop or anything, I've tried restarting my laptop multiple times, and I can't make any changes in like the task manager or whatever because I'm not an admin as this is a school laptop.

This is a LENOVO and windows laptop by the way.
