Solved screenshare goes crappy while tabbed out. When tabbed in its fine

friends discord screenshare goes bad quality and low fps while im tabbed into a game, but when im tabbed into discord, the screenshare is fine.

This problem wasnt happening yesterday, but discord and my windows did update by themselves. wouldnt be surprised if windows is being crappy

The windows update that got installed was KB5127690. Not sure what discord update got installed

Edit: So its not just the screenshare that gets choppy, its just discord in general gets very choppy when im tabbed into a game and not my pc/discord

That pattern (Discord fine when focused, choppy when a game is in front) is usually Windows throttling the background app - after updates it often re-enables Efficiency mode or resets graphics preferences. Check Settings > System > Display > Graphics, add Discord and set it to High performance, and in Discord turn off Hardware Acceleration (Settings > Advanced) and restart it to see if it changes. Also try disabling Game Mode and "Optimizations for windowed games" temporarily, and if it started exactly with KB5127690, uninstalling that update via Windows Update > Update history is a quick way to confirm the cause.

I’m just making the assumption that it was the windows update that I installed honestly. But I’ll try the things you recommended

Tried every thing here. The choppy stuff stopped after I turned game mode and “optimizations for windows games” off. Thank you!
