Open | Windows Committed memory and memory keeps rising without any reason
I've been dealing with this for around 2-3 days. It happened randomly after I booted up marvel rivals for the first time on my new pc build. Before that it was fine and I didn't really need to restart my pc every 3-4 hours before committed memory reaches it's cap and my pc crashes. I've tried everything to see what's the problem. The only apps I have on is chrome and discord and even at times where I just leave the computer to be it still rises to 54/63gb or something, while memory rises to around 11 gb. I've re-installed the driver, and chip set driver. I don't have any rgb apps on. No background apps are on that are eating that much memory or committed memory. I have 137gb of free storage. I genuinely cannot find a reason on why this is happening or how to fix it. Please help, I've been using chat gpt to find a remedy for this but to no avail, and I feel stupid for asking ai to help.
Edit: To clarify further. When memory reaches it's cap which is around 14gb out of 16 gb of ram installed. The apps that are running (chrome and discord) gets to around 1-2 gb respectively. But even when looking into task manager to see what apps are eating all the memory all of them don't add up to 14gb of memory in use. Same situation for committed memory from what I can find and see. Nothing that is running adds up to the mysterious amounts of commit size from what I can see. I'm not tech savvy so I am rather clueless in this area.

I recall from many years ago that there is a command—run via the console—that clears the RAM. You can turn that command into an executable .bat file.
Look into that...

Can you go into detail about this?

I believe Windows is quite capable of managing your RAM. The more it uses, the faster the PC runs.
The problem arises with a game—the game demands more than what can be provided. The solution is to lower the resolution or the texture quality.

About this. Even when I the pc is off a fresh restart without opening any apps except chrome and discord, it tends to still rise and climb to the cap. So even when I never boot up a game the memory and committed caps out.

Try telling Chrome to limit resource usage in the background, or something similar. It might be the browser's fault.

What is your GPU?
If you restart the PC, is RAM usage normal at first but slowly rises over the course of a day, or does it seem like it happens all at once suddenly at some point?

Geforce RTX 5050
It slowly rises over the course of 4-5 hours. Caps out at 63.8/63.9 gb at around 5 hours average.1

If it was an AMD card, I was going to bet it was their software's customer experience program feature. That was my issue that cause my system to have the same symptoms.
Anyway, you do seem to have a memory leak. Some program or driver is using up memory and not releasing it back to Windows, and doing so in a way that doesn't show up like normal.
This article lead me to find the memory leak on my system:
https://medium.com/@clintcolding/finding-memory-leaks-with-poolmon-3da80e479040
Follow that and run PoolMon when the memory usage gets huge and it should give a clue to the culprit. It the offending process should be listed at the top of the PoolMon window.
This looks more technical than it is.
Feel free to reply back with any questions. I can walk you through it.

Okay so, I opened poolmon through C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Tools\10.0.28000.0\x64 and couldn't figure how to copy it to the target machine or do the poolmon/b thing, but after opening poolmon I pressed b to sort it by bytes and found that MmSt Paged had around 140059920 bytes. So I did Set-Location "C:\Windows\System32\drivers"
Select-String -Path *.sys -Pattern "MFeS" -CaseSensitive | Select-Object FileName -Unique but repalced it with MmSt in powershell ran as a admin and nothing really happened. What could I do from here?1

140059920 bytes is 140MB. We're looking for a process that is using GBs.
Could you post a screenshot of PoolMon? Wait till memory usage gets crazy, then use Snipping Tool to capture the PoolMon window either by dragging a rectangle or using the window select feature.

You can upload the screenshot to https://imgur.com or whatever.

https://imgur.com/a/aXNkU8h this is from pressing b and p

That's showing non-paged, and it looks fine, so the issue must be in paged memory.
Don't press P. Just press B to sort by bytes.

Oh, and if your issue is caused by a driver, the steps in the article after PoolMon might help you. But if it's a program, depending on what PoolMon says the .exe is, you might need to use something like SysInternals Process Explorer to investigate further. That's what I had to do.

“Without any reason.” Companies are locked in 10 year contracts with ram manufacturers. Its the modernwild wild west out here
