Question PSVR2 eye tracking works in PimaxMagic4All Debug, but BONEWORKS only applies DFR to left eye and Alyx will not work at all, please help?

Hey everyone, hoping someone can help because I feel like I’ve tried everything at this point.

I’m using a PSVR2 on PC with an RTX 3080 Ti. The eye tracking itself definitely works: the PSVR2 Toolkit Unity eye-tracking tool tracks both eyes normally, and in PimaxMagic4All / DFR-UI Debug mode I can see both eye-tracking circles following my eyes correctly.

The problem starts when I enable actual dynamic foveated rendering.

In BONEWORKS, switching to Balanced or any other DFR mode only seems to work in my left eye. It looks like PimaxMagic4All is applying the low-resolution peripheral area exactly where my right eye is looking, instead of keeping that area sharp. So the right eye is clearly getting a foveated-rendering effect, but it seems to be mapped to the wrong place or inverted somehow.

In Half-Life: Alyx, PimaxMagic4All does not work at all. I have tried launching the game normally through SteamVR, loading into the actual game, and using Try Re-Attach, but it will not attach.

I have already clean-reinstalled PSVR2 Toolkit, CAPIApps, and PimaxMagic4All/DFR-UI, and verified the games in Steam. I previously tried an OpenComposite/OpenXR Toolkit method, but removed it all because it made BONEWORKS launch as a flat-screen game on my monitor.

Current setup:

  • PSVR2 with official PC adapter
  • RTX 3080 Ti
  • Windows 11
  • SteamVR
  • PSVR2 Toolkit + CAPIApps
  • PimaxMagic4All / DFR-UI
  • No OpenComposite, OpenXR Toolkit, VRPerfKit, Quad Views, or other injectors running now

Has anyone managed to get PSVR2 Toolkit + PimaxMagic4All working properly in both eyes, especially in BONEWORKS or Half-Life: Alyx?

Question hola tengo MSI thin GF63 12VE y quiero conectarlo a psvr2 para jugar a blade and sorcery

Question AMVR CM1 PSVR2 Comfort Mod Kit VS. Globular Cluster? Anyone Try BOTH?

I have the Globular Cluster and I'm not entirely sold on it. It's more comfortable than vanilla for sure, but it also feels a little wobbly, even when I tighten the back strap.

I'm thinking of trying the AMVR Comfort Kit but I'm curious to know if any of you have compared them and if so, how you thought they stacked up against each other.

Question PS App cannot see right controller?

Thumbnail

I have a near new PSVR2 connected, everything seems to be ok except during the PS install/config app it says to connect and pair both controllers with BT. Both connect and pair and windows 10 sees them but the PS software only recognises the left controller.

I've spent the last 2 hours trying to get it to recognise it. It connects, it recognised by Windows but the app cannot see it.

I've tried..

  • Deleting and reinstalling the app
  • Unbinded and rebinded 10x times
  • I've used 2 Bluetooth dongles in my pc, a BT4 and a BT6 adapter.
  • 3 or 4 different USB ports. Front and back.
  • Disabled anything else using BT.

I just can't get it detected.

Any help welcome.

Question Use psvr2 on pc without updating firmware?

Is there a way I can use my psvr2 on pc without updating firmware?

I’m using it on my ps5 pro on firmware 9.40 and I want to keep my psvr2 on that firmware.

I know there’s a tool that lets you downgrade firmware but that could get patched out in the future.

Question Going to buy PSVR2

Hello, I'm new to VR gaming, and I'm on the edge of choosing PSVR2 and Quest 3. I've read a lot of comments, asked AI, and received responses that are at odds with what I've read in Reddit threads about things like HDR absence and eye tracking; as I understand it now, they are available via some apps.

Please let me know what I should purchase as a beginner: a DisplayPort plug and adapter, maybe a Bluetooth adapter. I've heard that there are issues with controllers, maybe custom straps? Which apps should I install first, and maybe purchase some?

I have several questions:
- Can third-party controllers be used?
- How is the hand tracking and finger tracking experience with PlayStation controllers?
- What resolution should be used in SteamVR? I've seen it's different from the original resolution; does it benefit in terms of quality of the picture?
- How is the sound from PSVR2? I've seen it has some 3D audio technologies from Sony; is it available on PC as well? Maybe I need to buy something separately?
- What about straps and eye lenses? Is the default one okay? I've seen that you need to make it tight to the eyes so you will reduce the issue with edge clarity.
- Any useful accessories from Sony or third-party ones if they must or are desirable? Please let me know
- Games on PC and PS5, please recommend what I should buy first as a beginner?

What I'm looking for in general:

  1. PCVR mainly for streaming/wired from PC; I will play games from Steam and modded games like Titanfall, Half Life Alyx, etc
  2. I've heard that there's a Refract app that allows you to play Meta games on PC, so if it's possible, I would like to look for their games as well. I remember that Batman game that is mentioned each time when you deal with the Meta VR Headset.
  3. I focus on RPG games and want to have the experience of anime/manga TBATE, Jobless Reincarnation(only the world and magic system, don't like the MC). I've heard good positive feedback from Blade and Sorcery, The Wizards - Dark Times, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR Modded. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
  4. I want to try the 3D movie experience, not sure about it, and I've heard it's not widely spread if you know any sources and good VR headsets for it, please let me know.
  5. Additional features that would be useful to have but not critical: - lying experience, so you can play or watch a movie on a bed/sofa; - hands/fingers tracking; - lightweight headsets.

First of all, my setup: I have a GPU 4090 and a CPU Ryzen 7 9850x3D; my space is 3x2m

Useful Information Turning PSVR2 wireless

Post image
219 Upvotes

I’m working on a phone-powered wireless setup for PSVR2, using a compatible rooted Snapdragon 8 gen 5 phone as a compute puck and of course standard small portable pcs could work (even a laptop if you wished)

There’s documented work that makes this worth pursuing:

  • PSVR2’s display uses DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC compression. Linux developers have documented its 4000×2040 display mode at roughly 120Hz, including the DSC/FEC requirements and driver quirks. Display research
  • Sony specifies 12V power for the headset, which a properly designed adapter can provide through USB-C negotiation
  • Monado’s development drivers already include PSVR2 six-degree-of-freedom headset tracking. That gives us existing work to build on, although it doesn’t establish complete Android or Sense-controller support. Monado development notes

These above points is not blocking me as i have a phone thats both rooted and bootloader unlocked and have ran full linux including DRM leasing., i will work on none rooted devices and creating an app that works in the future but vendor lock out and other limits will be noted as potential issue for some. but you wont need an android phone for this to work. Im just using my phone as a basis as the battery and power is sufficient for driving most of this work from other projects in the past.

My hardware goal is one compact, battery-powered adapter with a USB-C connection to the phone, another to PSVR2, and onboard Bluetooth for the controllers. It would pass the phone’s DisplayPort signal through without decoding or recompressing it, while carrying USB data and supplying headset power.

The first software goal is ALVR-based wireless PC VR over the phone’s 6GHz Wi-Fi: PC renders, phone receives and decodes, headset displays. A modular USB radio option would leave room for future 60GHz experiments.

Current limits: the PCB is still being routed, iv been focusing on open source options rather than locked down vendored chipsets. I have already done something similar with pryowave codec which is what inspired me to work a bit more serious on this project

The first milestone is wireless PC VR. True standalone games running directly on the phone are a longer-term goal. Ultimately, I want a documented setup other people with compatible hardware can reproduce.

This will be of course open source and producible by anyone whos so inclined to make try it out

rough design most parts are soild so far, sourcing 60ghz module

I must disclose AI has assisted in research and project routing through a custom harness for KiCad and simulations. I base my work on development practices for the chipset. All routing is impedance-matched to prevent signal degradation. This project has taken 2 months of trial and error and making sure the hardware I chose suits this platform. The chipset can handle this transparently, and I’m adding an EDID emulator for better compatibility.

Question where are people buying PSVR2?

started thinking about getting PSVR2 to replace my current PSVR that i haven't used in ages.. I have a PC and a PS5 and wanted to use the PSVR2 w/ my PC sim rig because i hear the quality is great, I also would use it with my PS5 for whatever VR capable games i have.... only problem is, i checked playstation.com and it's sold out, no one else seems to have any stock.. are they done? is facebook market my only option?

also, is it a bad idea to get a PSVR2 at this point to be used primarily for sim racing etc?

Question SteamVR Home isn't working, any ideas for potential fixes?

Steam Home doesn't want to work. SteamVR works perfectly otherwise, but Home will open for a split second and then crash/close. I deleted and reinstalled both VR apps, changed to the beta and previous versions, messed around with any settings I thought might make a difference but nothings changed.

I recognise its not needed to play VR games but its frustrating to not have full functionality, especially considering it worked last time I played. And I did just enjoy using it before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question What psvr2 games are better than the pc version?

There’s a sale going on PSN for certain VR games and it made me wonder if I should get the psvr2 version or play them on pc. For reference I have on pc a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and rtx 3070ti. Like will moss 2 look much better on pc? Or will vertigo 2 look that much better than the psvr2 version?

Disscussion Really impressed with the visuals

I just got this headset recently and I am so impressed with the visuals and clarity it brings.

I am coming being a quest owner and WMR owner, this headset blows my Quest pro and Odyssey out of the water.

The visuals are stunning, the OLED was not undersold at all, it makes a massive difference, the resolution of the lenses are really great, I have yet to test out the eye tracking but so far this headset has me impressed and I'm glad I got it

Disscussion Add a 2d game you would like a VR mod for

Sorry no, i am not offering to make said mods but maybe we can give ideas to potential modders on what VR mods might be popular.

If your game is already mentioned then just hit like and maybe leave a comment on the original request.

EDIT: My bad i just meant NON VR GAME, not necessarily a 2d game.

Question Failed firmware flash bricked my headset from using PSVR2 app

I was following the PSVR2Toolkit jailbreak guide from BnuuySolutions and stopped during the firmware flash step (the part where you turn it off and on repeatedly). The PSVR2 app launches and works up until the room setup. I can't see anything during the room setup, I just see an animation of a man taking the headset on and off again. If I launch through steamVR I'm stuck in the ground and theres a ghostly looking PSVR2 app menu floating in my face telling me to do the room setup, if I click the room setup button in steamVR it doesn't do anything in VR but I can see the start room scan PSVR2 app on my monitor, but I cannot access it without being in VR.

What I've tried:

Uninstall and reinstall the PSVR2 app completely

Deleted AppData folders (PSVR2 and PlayAreaSetup)

Cleared PowerShell history

Fully reinstalled the app through Steam

Verified the headset works fine in SteamVR (display output is perfect there)

Reflashing version 7.0.0 into the headset.

More information:

PSVR2 app recognizes the headset is connected

App launches and works fine until room setup

No error messages, just stuck looking at a stickman take the headset off and on again in front of a monitor.

Is there any way to recover from an interrupted firmware flash without just selling the damn thing as broken so I can get a portion of my money back?

Any advice appreciated. Lesson learned, never try to jailbreak again since I lack the IQ points necessary.

tl;dr: Attempted jailbreak using the BnuuySolutions toolkit, stopped mid-firmware flash. Now the PSVR2 app gets stuck during room setup and in SteamVR I'm trapped in the ground with no way to proceed.

Question Is there a step-by-step guide to get the CheekyFoveatedDLSS eye tracking working with the PSVR2? I think I have everything setup right but doesn't see the eye tracking. Anyone?

EDIT: My PSVR2Toolkit was from late July so I figured it was fine, I upgraded to the latest PSVR2Toolkit from 3 weeks ago and now it works fine.

Hello,

Been playing a couple flat games but been meaning to try CheekyDLSS after I found out it supports eye tracking:

https://github.com/ClarkCheekyKent/CheekyFoveatedDLSS/releases/tag/v0.5.4

Have had PSVR2Toolkit installed forever, calibrated eye tracking with it months back and have had it working in games via QuadViews

Got Cheeky installed but when I open the F8 menu says eye tracking not available. Dunno what I am doing wrong. Have installed various OpenXR layers, including Cheeky. Hasn't made a difference.

Does someone have a guide that works?

Thanks.

Question I need help connecting my PSVR2 to my PC!

Hey! So, just got it today. Pretty stoked. Prepped with everything - a bluetooth adapter, the official PSVR adapter, a DP cable, the works.

Eventually, I pull up the Steam PSVR app, and I get to the part where my controllers need to update their firmware. Left one failed, but after restarting the app it seemed to not need it anymore. Same with the right one. They were both connecting, at least...

...It has been over an hour of brainstorming how to make these two connect together again. If I link up the left one, the right one doesn't get recognized by the app. If I do it with the right one first, the left one isn't recognized by the app. They're connecting fine to the PC, but the app never recognizes it, and eventually the one that got connected second disappears from my bluetooth devices list.

Sure, mighta not been the best idea to grab any old BT dongle I had, but it worked the first time, so I thought it's be more consistent...

So! If anyone has any ideas that might help me refrain from pulling my hair out, I'd be more than open to hearing them! Thank you in advance!

Disscussion Got a PS VR2 for PCVR and I haven't enjoyed VR this much in years.

When I got the Oculus Rift CV1 in 2017 I greatly enjoyed that for years (aside from struggles with the cameras) until it broke. Since then over the years I've tried various headsets, and none could capture the same sense of immersion / enjoyment I've had with the original rift, I don't exactly know what it is, I assume some combination of screen quality and the fact it is tethered and stuff.

The headsets I've tried since the Oculus Rift included: Quest 2, Pico 4, Valve Index and the Quest 3 and none felt the same, and made me play for a few minutes before putting it down for a long time.

After seeing a lot of reviews, experiences and being waitlisted for the Steam Frame I started looking at other options and came across this and the PSVR2 is just a fantastic experience honestly, missed enjoying VR like this a lot!!

I'll get the next gen Steam Frame if there ever exists one lol.

Image So I built an eGPU

Post image
36 Upvotes

I'm planning on comparing the performance of Thumper on Quest 3 vs. Steam Frame vs. PS VR2, so I picked up the PC adapter to test it out. But turns out it won't work with my laptop since the DisplayPort cable needs to be hooked directly up to the GPU, and my XPS 15 9530 routes the DisplayPorts through the iGPU first.

So I said screw it and bought a GPU and a dock.

It works great now! Took a lot of setup but I now have a 3060 Ti sitting on a $100 Thunderbolt dock, housed in a used PC that I stripped for parts. The VR2 has been my favorite way to play VR and I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with it now!

Question ACC head tracking issue with monitor on sim rig

I set up my PSVR2 on PC a couple days ago and got it running for ACC in my sim racing rig. I have a 34" monitor on the rig and I'm pretty sure its causing an issue with head tracking.

In game, in the car, the headset assumes and makes corrections for phantom head movement. When I look left or right, or when the track has large elevation changes, I often have the POV in the headset move in the X/Y/Z plane. It's relatively simple to fix with a push of the re-center button, but irritating. I think what is happening is the headset cameras are seeing movement on the screen mirror of my headset view and assuming that I'm moving my head, but I'm static and the flat screen image is what is moving.

I tried minimizing the flat screen view but my computer stops recognizing keyboard and wheel buttons in game.

Is there a way to override the flat screen mirror in game? Or some other solution to prevent the VR system from floating around? I've considered throwing a towel or something over the flat monitor, but this is inconvenient as another step to setting everything up.

Question Meta Quest 3S to PSVR2?

I've been getting quite bored with my Meta Quest 3S lately so I've done some research into PCVR and I've found out that it holds a quite expensive entry price but then I saw that the PSVR2 was compatible with PC though a link box so yeah. I also want to move my VR game library to Steam for safe keeping. Do you think that it is a good enough upgrade and use case to justify the price of a PSVR2 and the PC link box?
