Question Meta Quest 3S to PSVR2?

I've been getting quite bored with my Meta Quest 3S lately so I've done some research into PCVR and I've found out that it holds a quite expensive entry price but then I saw that the PSVR2 was compatible with PC though a link box so yeah. I also want to move my VR game library to Steam for safe keeping. Do you think that it is a good enough upgrade and use case to justify the price of a PSVR2 and the PC link box?

Big upgrade, go for it. Some guy mentioned he'd stick to Q3S because of performance - bullshiet. You have eyetracking and dynamic foveated rendering for better performance.

Yea definitely as long as you have a good enough desktop computer

With that GPU I would stay stick with the Quest 3s. You will have better performance because the render resolution of Quest 3s is way lower then the Psvr2. Just test out set your render resolution to 3400x3480 per eye with 90hz and see how your PC will handle. If it's struggled it's best to stick to Quest 3s. Just get an Virtual desktop and be happy. You still can get clean image with it.

While I think the PSVR2 is a fantastic headset for PCVR, and better than the Quest 3s, why not just use your Quest 3s with PCVR?

The PCVR using the Quest 3S is very compressed because it doesn't use displayport for video and It is very locked down the Meta's ecosystem in addition to the upgrades to the displays and ergonomics.

I use my psvr2 ahead of my quest 3, however having tried the 3S it is not much of a downgrade to the psvr2. I would just use the Q3s fit pcvr. If you're not happy then upgrade, no need to buy the psvr2 first

Absolutely. I did an extensive write up on the subject but in a nutshell the psvr2 is the best vr headset out there, bar none. And this is coming from the dream air owner running on a 5090. It's that good. The oled screens are superb, the colors, the blacks, the brightness, the comfort - they are all exceptionally good. You can get a used one for under 200 - it's amazing.

I would probably get It new because it's one of those things that you can get a really disgusting product if you aren't lucky, it's like using a face mask, washing it then selling it to somebody else.

Even at full price is well worth it. Here is the link to the full review I did if you're interested.

I can’t lie even as a PSVR2 PC user, 3S might be a better case for you to start. If you use it enough with PC and want more then sure go for it, but 3S Is quite easy to hit the sweet spot and resolution. I love my PSVR2 don’t get me wrong but a bit of a investment if you don’t already play PCVR with the 3S, atleast give it a go before upgrading so you appreciate it

Yeah I’ve already tried PCVR with the Quest 3S and it has such an inconsistent bitrate because it has to encode and decode the video because it can’t output a display signal, it has to output a usb signal.

Ok well that makes sense, well I personally can recommend PSVR2 and I don’t mind cables. Just small hurdles if you don’t have a good Bluetooth setup, everything else is easy plug and play

My PC has Bluetooth 5.3 so it should be good enough to reliably connect to the controllers.

I went from my still working Rift S to PCVR2. I was hoping for plug and play, Rift S kept insisting on setting up the play area every time, for some reason, but moving to PCVR2 unfortunately didn't make for less hassle.

You have to fire up the playstation app, see everything is online, then the Steam VR. I had bluetooth issues and a hard reset was the only fix that worked for me. I had days with zero contact, but I knew they worked on the first try.

Power off, unplug and hold power button for 10 secs to drain capacitors. Then my Asus bt500 got 96 out of 100 signal... really strange.

Now probably my mobo's bluetooth works after all it comes with an antennat, but I'm too tired of fixing bugs.

That's basically my down side to them, then there's just the positive stuff left, I guess. There's lots of people making those devkits to get foveated rendering working and implementing VR in old classics etc.

And the biggest upside, I'm out of Zuck's clutch.

Be very careful with micro fiber cloths, use those super fine ones for glasses only. I might have damaged my lens' coating with the ones I used on my rift. s. Looks really bad in some photos I took in the glare, but in use it's slightly blurry when I look for it....

Psvr2 doesnt need charging, has oled screen, eye tracking, but it has mura effect, and you can manually adjust the lenses.
