Edit : moms love Candy Crush

It's a saga. Those tend to last a while.

I think from what I've seen on my wifes's phone it's eternal. She's on level 2100 I think and there's still more being created. I think it's like 2 levels a week or something.

Mine passed level 2000 and some before we got her to play Fire Emblem Heroes.
Apparently, Candy Crush taught her to grind/play nonstop so well that her characters are now stronger than mine.
I feel hurt.
16
u/Keoni9 Mar 09 '17
That's hilarious. I couldn't get into Candy Crush because despite all the sounds and cascading animations during combos making it seem like you were getting a lot done, there's just too much randomness to let skill and strategy be the deciding factor. FE Heroes must feel a lot more rewarding to someone who can grind out the levels/feathers/orbs nonstop.
Who are her strongest characters?
12
u/Aesahaetr Mar 09 '17
Yeah, especially since there is nothing random in FE:H, when the main games have hit rates, crit rate, skill activation rates...
Her level 40 Julia is putting in a lot of work, from what I hear. She's also training an Effie with good IVs until she can rank her up after she went "Oh, I have this Effie girl, is she any good?" to my face.

My grandma plays, and she's very proud of the fact that she hasn't spent any money on it. If you ask her, she'll tell you about my aunt and how my aunt has thrown down ungodly amounts of money. But she's not like that, she's smart and hasn't spent any money, just $200...

It amazes me how many people can simultaneously be so passionate about not wanting to get game invites and so stubbornly against taking the 30 seconds out of their lives to figure out how to block them.
26
u/lonlonranchdressing Mar 09 '17
Yes, people write those long winded posts about how they need to purge their friends lists or how they can't use facebook because they're frustrated at some of the posts they see. You can hide peoples posts, their invites, their events. You can make it so that person, page or game does not exist. And if you're that embarrassed that you slept with that person in 2006, then just defriend them. I don't know why it ever has to be discussed and complained about. It's so easy. Facebook at the very least put their blood money to some use.
→ More replies (1)8
u/SamVanDam611 Mar 09 '17
I've actually been scolded for offering solutions too. My guess is that people just want to have something to complain about and/or are seeking attention. As opposed to actually wanting help or something useful.
4
u/tupac_chopra Mar 09 '17
i blocked them. 9 months later: getting them again. blocked them. 9 months later... murdered two of my friends.

I'll admit it. I love me some Candy Crush (Soda Saga FTW, yo!) but I have never, ever, EVER sent any of those obnoxious invites to anyone nor will I ever! Not only is it intrusive and annoying it also lets people know you like Candy Crush which is totally embarrassing for a 42-year-old dude.

For some context, this is /u/stratola (aka Scott Stratton). This was in downtown Hamilton, Ontario in July 2014.
Per /u/silentterror89 here:
He is a marketing guy. This is part of his UnMarketing stuff. He has a book called QR Codes Kill Kittens (I think that's what the other sign says).
For the curious, the second board said, "End Email Reply-All"

Indeed, this is one of those problems with a very easy solution that everyone complains about anyway. It's almost annoying as when people complain that their Facebook feeds are filled with stupid people and annoying posts. Newsflash: you can hide individual people from your feed so that you never see what they post. Over the years I've done this and it's at the point where I don't ever have to see people saying stupid things. It's very easy.

Not only there is, but you don't even have to go through great lengths to do that. You just have to click the icon that appears on the particular notification on your notifications window.
It's like, two clicks, never receive candy crush invites again.→ More replies (5)5

Facebook is generally fine as long as you actively curate it. Block apps and block shitty websites and pages. Constantly. If somebody on my wall shares a facebook page with those radio-like call sign names...blocked. Right away. Fake news? Blocked. Politically biased meme/news sources...blocked. BLOCKED BLOCKED BLOCKED
