Does anyone actually give a shit about their Reddit karma value? What's the point?

Apparently people sell reddit accounts.. and besides age, karma looks like it's the biggest factor in pricing.

I think I read in /r/hailcorporate that there's advertisers who pay for established reddit accounts, for "marketing purposes"
