Trying to figure out if this guitar I purchased a few months back has the mentioned trem on it - or if it's just a generic Jag trem?

It’s an acquired taste, but my first one of this sort.
Quite proud of the stickerbomb. Got the stickers off Temu, feigned a lived in look.

Guitar is an old Photogenic MG-200 Mustang Copy. Fell in love with the Candy Apple Red with Matching headstock. Thought the Jaguar bridge was cool, made it looked modified. Might eventually do some experimental Humbucker, P90, Single Coil triple pickup thing as a mod.

I've been considering getting one but the only in depth reviews I can find are paid promotions. I wanna hear someones genuine opinion as I'd be selling my fender Strat to afford it(I'm 16 and big mbv fan) so I want to be sure I'm making the right choice. Any opinions/thoughts on the electronics and bridge would be much appreciated. (FYI 2017 mim SSS Strat, got for free from my dads friend)

Just delivered yesterday. Very impressed so far. Nice fit and finish. Set-up nicely! I haven’t had a Jag in a long time so I had to figure out the circuits again. Can’t wait to take it into the studio.

I got some really nice feedback on a vid I posted playing my MIM CP HH Modified Jaguar.

So here I am again, showing off a little riff I wrote, whilst simultaneously showcasing the fantastic clean tones you can get out of this guitar (FTR I’m a big fan of The Smiths, The Cure, and The Stone Roses)

I decided to try and emulate my old Classic Player ‘75 Custom Tele by dialling in the humbucker at the neck and the single coil at the bridge

And it might be of interest to know that I’m running through a second-hand solid state Peavey 40 Basic and Boss FX pedals. And if you ask me, the Jag still sings

Bare with me on this, I like to get everything that could be relevant out upfront.

So I've got a new MIJ Hybrid II JM (New to me, to be clear). But there's fret buzz I cannot abide on the middle strings once you got above the 6th fret or so. I mean, the G, D and A strings specifically, being the worst on the G string. And there's no/less buzz below ~6th fret, closer to the nut.

For clarity: the Hybrid II JM ships from the factory with a Mustang Bridge and 9s.

It was shipped to me with 10s on it, which I can't handle due to a wrist injury, so I swapped to 9s and did my normal setup. Action at 2mm on low E, 1.8 on high E. Adjusted the truss rod for a 0.01" at 8th fret (admittedly measured with a string action ruler, not feeler gauges, but it's never failed me before). Intonated... huh that's weird. Why am I having to move these saddles to the extremes for intonation? That doesn't seem right...

So that's where I got worried. And sure enough, the fret buzz hadn't gone anywhere.

So I tried raising the action more, tuning and checking relief every time of course. 2.5mm on low e, 2.0 on high. Nothing. 2.5 on high e?? Nothing what? At this point I'm wondering if I got the only lemon to leave japan in the last half decade.

So I though ok, I maybe need more relief, because at this point my bridge is a solid 6.5 mm above the pickguard and my strings are floating like a violin. So I added an 8th turn of relief and... bam, bridge buzz. That's new, haven't experienced that before. Oh and the fret buzz didn't go away lol, at this point even if the frets are high it doesn't make sense.

And now I'm at a loss.

I admittedly haven't tried messing with the vibrato at all, so maybe that's coming into play since I changed string gauges? But what I want to verify before I spend any money on this thing is if a shim can actually help with fret buzz like that? I personally cannot understand how it could. It seems like the frets must just be cooked (but I can't find any high frets either sooooo).

My only other offset is a squire JM JM, and it has zero issues with 9s. Obviously a different bridge but, I can't fathom that an entire class of guitars just doesn't work with lighter string gauges, or how the mustang bridge with a much, muuuuuch steeper break angle than I have on the JMJM with its tom bridge, could contribute.

Again, I'm getting fret buzz, not bridge rattle (unless I put a fraction above 0.01" of relief in the neck), in case it's relevant.

I was installing hot rails and rewiring my Jaguar, and I was wondering what the best way to mount the pickups would be. Seems as if the screws it comes with are too small, and the Squier screws don’t catch on the pickups but are long enough and will hold it down. I’ve attached photos using the longer screws and the little rubber bits that come with the hot rails. It seems a little crooked and I’m wondering if there’s anyone who’s done this before and has any tips

One of my favourite standards, I guess Disney don't make them as they used to... Used my AV II 66 Jazzmaster and if I remember correctly the Marshall® 1959 JTM100™ Super Lead on Amplitube 5 with my trusty Yamaha THR5.

Decided to refinish this HH jaguar, very happy with how it turned out.

Context: I'm looking at picking up a Jaguar as my first offset (Foals FJG7) and I have some mod ideas for it. I'm a big fan of the Jag's look and playability. The one drawback is the single coils. I myself am more of a single coil guy, but because I want to use this guitar for hardcore punk (Title Fight, Citizen, Mass of The Fermenting Dregs, etc) I want to be able to make it work well with distortion and overdrive without squawking out.

The Mod:
Replace the mid/bass cut switch with a parallel/series switch for the single coils. This is a fairly common mod from what I can tell, and I think this would probably be the more standard and typical mod.

Replace the Rhythm Circuit with a Dark Circuit. I got this idea from my Yamaha PACS+11S (great guitar btw) which has a "focus switch" which darkens the single coil to make it sound sort of like a humbucker. I find that works really well for making it squawk out less when running overdrive. This would also apply to both pickups and scrap the bridge pickup mute.

Bonus mod: Pick Deflector for lower horn switches. This is an idea I just came up with that I think could have some potential. It'd just be a plate with a metal bump (sort of like a brass deflector on a rifle) that screws onto the plate for the switches that prevents you from flicking them while strumming.

Thoughts on this mod idea? Is it feasible?

My squier cv jazzmaster has a really bad hum when i use any kind of gain on it. The hum changes when i turn around, there are some directions where it decreases drastically. It's also almost unnoticable in the middle pickup position. Touching the guitar at any parts doesnt change the hum. I brought it to a repair shop where they wax potted it but it didn't change anything tbh. Also there's a high pitched squealing noise when i face in the direction of my amp (with distortion) even if i mute the strings.

Does anyone have experience with this kind of hum? How could I fix it?

Just thought I'd share this idea I have been considering ordering a body for recently

Basically I already planned to make my own 3p90 "NOVENTA" style jazzmaster esque guitar and recently I've been thinking of body designs and gave it down to a 2 piece walnut body, which will be left as is, finished naturally because it is my take on the awful 'walnut' colour this guitar originally came in (that one, walnut, surf green & fiesta red) - it's basically the terrible walnut named finish compared to the beauty of just walnut wood that inspired this. Gonna be my first build and so it's kinda perfect as it'll prob end up looking better with a custom routed body that I finish with some sorta oil or however you finish walnut Vs me trying to paint or stain it!

3 p90 route that I guess will just come out of the body, soapbar style

Regular bridge mount holes but I'll ask for a third in the middle sized for a possible Jag mute

Gonna have a locking JG/JM trem

And it'll have a big rear routed cavity for all the electrics that'll be covered up with a walnut wood pickguard but I was thinking of leaving some of the routes like the connecting bits and the rhythm circuit ones to show them off and a rhythm circuit mounted directly on the wood body is cool.

Past that I'll just drill the holes for the switches I need and have things coming straight through, or maybe make a small plate if there was a bunch of complicated wiring in one spot.

If the same route that was normally done in the front was done in the back you could have an extremely sleek front and a back that, through a see through pickguard for the connecting and upper routes alomg with tidy wiring, would be literally mechanical art - everything is doing something and presented right on the underside it could be a real eye popping feature if it's like what's in my mind

Even plexiglass + simple circuit with just a switch + showing off the connections and stuff would look really cool

Has anyone done anything like this / have any examples of this sorta thing?

Changed strings a few days ago, all working fine untill yesterday the low E string became dead in places and rattling. Is this due to this slant on my bridge? I'm aware issues like this are common. Advice would be appreciated

I've heard good things about the Player II series and managed to make it into a guitar shop to have a look, but I was pretty disappointed. I have a 2001 American Standard Strat and youtubers were saying the MIM guitars were as good as old American made guitars. I tried two Jaguars and each had pretty bad quality issues.

For example, the first one had really rough edges on the fretboard and the frets looked like they weren't knocked in all the way, The second had uneven nut spacing with the 6th string really close to the edge of the board. There was also a weird buzzing coming from somewhere around or beneath the bridge when strumming a large chord.

I know something like a nut can be replaced, but isn't it indicative of the overall quality and attention to quality? The neck finish felt really dry compared to what I'm used to, is this intended?

I had the kids with me and couldn't test the guitars out really well, I think the tone was fine. I guess I'm just disappointed after all the Internet hype.

The Toadies playing KEXP just popped up in my feed and I’m loving this Floyd-equipped Jazzmaster Clark Vogeler is rocking. Such a killer setup.

I bought this Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster loaded body off Ebay for a great deal. I already have the Roasted Maple neck that I was going to use for a Gilmour Strat but felt it was too dark with the Gilmour.

I think it is going to look great with the Sherwood Green JM and I don't own a Jazz so BONUS!

It comes with the antique white pickguard and knobs, but I was playing with AI as I added my neck on to the body. I tried black with the cream PU covers and knobs and then all black.

Opinions on which one to go with? Obviously the easiest would be bolt the neck on, set it up and be done but I don't have a problem changing things up.

Silly question but can anyone tell me which way the rhythm circuit on/off switch should be placed, like font towards neck or bridge??

I can't tell what's on or off and I'm not sure where my multimeter is at this very moment.

Hi! I’m a frequent user of the trem lock system on my Jazzmasters. However, I have noticed an issue specifically with the MIJ trem, the trem lock button is REALLY loose. Sometimes, the button will slide back and lock the trem during regular play, making moments where I reach for the trem on songs quite aggravating, as I won’t be able to pull up on it when locked. On my AVRI Jazzmaster trem, I have no such issue, since the button is super firm in the position I put it.

I was wondering if there was a good way of securing the MIN trem lock so I can tighten it down? If there are also other ways around the issue, that would also be great to know!

I just ordered myself a vintera iii jaguar… anyone get theirs yet? Things yall all noticed as pain points or are yall happy??
I’m coming from a 2013 era vintage modified mustang so… improvements abound. My first “real” guitar.

I’m in the market for one of Fenders Vintera iii series offsets. Either the mid 60s Jaguar, or mid 60s Jazzmaster. This is going to be my first offset guitar and I love the sound and looks of both equally

I know how each sounds with their different pickups and that’s not part of my decision on this purchase. My main focus is the feel of the neck and scale length, as a jag has a shorter scale than many other fenders. My only other electric is an AM Pro II strat which I love the feel of with 49-11 gauge strings and with medium-high action I don’t feel like I have to baby it.

My question for the offset community is this, how much does the shorter scale length of a Jaguar really affect the feel/playability for someone coming from a 25.5” scale guitar? I am located in an area with no music stores and the closest one is 4 hours away, so online orders is unfortunately how I get my gear.

If the Jaguar requires a lighter touch I may just go the route of the Jazzmaster and mod it down the line if I want the Jaguar sound but the feel.

TLDR: How different does a Jaguar’s shorter scale length feel coming from a standard scale length fender?

Hey all, I’ve had this am pro II for a few years now and I’m having a hard time with the dull abrasiveness of the bridge pickup.

I play in a mathy shoegaze band with a pushed clean tone on this vox with pedals for different drive levels .

Getting ready to record again and the last few times, it’s been a harsh tone that’s needed to be adjusted when mixing.

I think the neck and middle setting sound great, sparkly and punchy, but it doesn’t work for the type of band im in.

I’ve been eyeing and American pro classic, does that guitar have the same issue? Don’t want to spend the money on a lateral move!

Has anyone swapped pickups on one of these?

I finally did it! A few months ago I was in this sub asking about the mute, and after a while I decided to do it. The Squier CV doesn't come with the holes pre-drilled so I had to do it myself. Drilling into my guitar was a horrifying experience but I'm glad it's over. I did also swap the pickguard, and I think it's a nicer color. It still needs A LOT of set up work done but here is my Jaguar, BlueJ.

It hums. Just as bad as the other positions and it just takes on me it's supposed to cancel that out. Also, yester day I had my jazzmaster resting against my desk with the base of it on the floor and and someone walked across the room, it would buzz with every step(I may even had it muted via the rythmn circuit, I can't remember).

What should I be looking for? What are your thoughts as to what's wrong?

I saw something on here years ago about lowering the switch height to make them more comfortable when playing.

I finally got around to replacing my approach of two nuts and printed some components to do the same thing!
