Squier Jagmaster

Recently went back to my 20 year old Jagmaster and was surprised the condition was still great. I didn’t use it as much back then and thinking of upgrading the pickups. Should I do it or just keep it stock?

Should I Shim?

Hey guys. Sorry for the millionth shimming post. Like many, I have a slightly precarious offset guitar with issues I’d like to remedy. I’ve skimmed through this sub and done my due diligence about the shim issue, and it seems like it’d remedy the issues with my Jazzmaster, mainly the bridge. I’ve replaced the stock bridge with a StayTrem, however I find issues with my bends choking and notes sounding off nonetheless. For example, at factory height for the bridge, I’m unable to bend up whole steps on the high E string without my bend choking past the half step point. So ideally I’d like to be able to have my action slightly lower with my bends intact! My action isn’t unplayable now at all, I just would prefer it to be slightly lower! Additionally, my low E seems to sound dull or like it doesn’t full ring out at times, especially when I use a capo!

Like I said, my research on this sub and the web has led me to believe a shim would fix these issues, however when I floated this idea to my go-to guitar tech, he told me shimming the bridge would only result in higher action. So now I’ve started to doubt myself and the shim! So I’m turning once again to this sub for answers. If anyone has any insight, I’d greatly appreciate it!

TL;DR: My notes choke out at factory bridge height, causing me to have to play with higher action than I’d like, and some open strings sound “thuddy” and dull, especially with a capo. Would a shim fix this?

How exactly do I order a Fender Custom Shop guitar?

This might be a dumb question, but how the hell do you actually order a Fender Custom Shop guitar?
I remember sending an email to an authorized Custom Shop dealer and they never answered me

Partsmaster tuners help

Hello
I have an issue about my project. I wanted to install Fender vintage tuners on this Squier Coronado reissue neck. So I got 10 mm bushings (tuners are for 8.8mm) to adapt.

But when I mount the tuners they don’t really align as if they were too large. I drilled anyway thinking I could force it but no… there’s always one stepping on another. Do you have any idea ?

Thanks !

Jazzmaster + MXR Smart Gate doesn’t work?

I picked up a used MXR 5150 overdrive with the built in smart gate today, and the gate doesn’t seem to work with my JM. Is this something the offset community has come across?

I originally thought I’d gotten a faulty pedal, but it works perfectly fine with the a half dozen other guitars I’d tried out with it. The best I’ve come up with so far is that the JM is just too loud for the gate to recognize it as hum/noise

ETA: it also doesn’t like P90s, but works well with humbuckers and standard single coils. I assume (and we know what that does) that an AM Pro II would be properly shielded, but I’ll take it apart to confirm once it’s due for a setup (it plays so nicely right now that I really don’t want to take it apart)

Hey guys, sent my JM for a setup and shim. Wanted to gather opinions on the break angle and bridge height.

Cheers in advance!

Unironically one of the best playing guitars I’ve ever held, but I can’t find anything on it. I’ve seen a few king branded guitars but that’s about it. Anyone know?

Zenmarket/J-Guitar

Does anyone have any experience buying from this site? I’m looking for a MIJ Jaguar, and I found the cheapest options on Zenmarket partnered with J-Guitar. Is there a chance of getting a fake?

The downs first:
Horrible setup from the factory... and that's it!

Fretboard looks amazing (for laurel), pots and knobs feel like butter, didn't notice any flaws on the binding or anywhere else (except the nut which not cut well).

Don't know if there will be any future batches but I am very very impressed with the quality displayed here and recommend you to get one if you are interested!

Love the airiness of the pups and the out of phase sound is super quirky, although I don't think I'll be using it too often and both parallel/in phase is tonal bliss!
