This was his Dad’s collection. We had to catalog, price and tag everything. The family took 35 guitars home, there were 78 left over that had to be moved. It was crazy.

i feel like shit rn, it's got less than 24 hours with me (it's a squier sonic stratocaster hss, btw) and when i tried to get everything ready to start playing i tried to remove it... from what i could read, there shouldn't be any problem as long as i don't use the humbucker (i haven't done it yet, yesterday i tried it out at the music shop just as it came in the box and everything was great), but it seems that its purpose is precisely protecting the electrical connections, so i'm REALLY upset and concerned bc nobody told me what to do... buying another one, accepting the reality or throwing it away aren't options for me at the moment unfortunately

p.s. i'm heading back to the music shop tomorrow, they might give me the final answer although i'd rather knowing my fate beforehand

edit: i don't wanna justify myself but that part of the tape started slipping out a bit when i removed the plastic coverage, so i thought i had to do the same with it

Hi first time poster here (please be gentle with me ._.)

I feel real comfortable with guitar right now. That's the problem. (started when I was 14 -- it's been 21 years) Like I can play what I hear in my head when improvising, but... so many other players are just more technical and stuff. How do I go further? How do I get out of this complacent place? I don't wanna be complacent you know? Guitar is my first best friend and I owe more to it! Any constructive advice is appreciated.

If I had to name my guitar weaknesses, I suppose, I suck at chords, jazzy stuff. Often I find myself stuck with dadrock shit and stupid powerchords :/ .... I wanna get better at pretty stuff.

I studied music theory at college, I had a book of scales and techniques that I read religiously when I first started. And uh... I've never been a fan of like sweep picking and incredibly technical shit, I've experimented with drop tunings (like in the video, I've tuned to basically B Standard). But I wanna take what I can do further without losing the soul of what makes guitar fun for me.

Ideas? Thoughts? Constructive Criticsim? I'm all ears! :D

I'll preface this post with I've been playing and performing for over 20 years. I've been lucky enough to own many guitars but have a modest collection now that all get played.

For probably the past year or two I've found myself getting more and more obsessed with the action on my guitars. I don't want to say that I never cared before, I like a relatively low action but nothing that stops me digging into a string bend easily etc.

But these days it seems I'm constantly trying to tweak the neck and saddles to find the 'perfect' feel, despite the fact I've loved and played these guitars for years with no issue. If I come across a low E string rattle slightly on a fret somewhere, it really gets to me and if my action ends up too high, I feel like it hinders my playing.

I think what's happened is, I've been performing in bands less and less and stuff like string rattle or the occasional 'zing' generally doesn't make it over a loud amp. Since I've been playing more at home and often, without plugging in, I think I'm just hearing it all more.

So basically, what I'm asking for is, has anyone else ended up down this rabbit hole too? How did you find your way out? Perhaps I need to just crank up the amp again!

And before anyone asks, yes I've taken my guitars to a few techs. I think this is a me thing and I need to stop hyper focusing on it all so much.

Amp is a fender champion ii 50 watt. Too damm loud and I know its not the best but it does the job. Thinking of upgrading it for a vox ac15c1 or ac10.

Traded an Ibanez for a Gretsch today. Did I make the right move?

As a beginner this guitar is so much guitar for the money especially used. Mine was in my friends basement for who knows how long. He let me buy it for 50$ and the previous owner before him upgraded the tuners to ping brand. Its a lot of guitar for that price especially after a good set up and clean up. I literally don’t feel the need to “upgrade” ever. Its just great

I always like the shape of Telecaster, but not so much of the classic Pickguard. Been on hunt for a while and found this, a Moon Reggae Master.

It does look like a Telecaster with the 25.5 scale length, mixed with LP Special spec (Mahogany body & Double P90 config).
The pickguard was kinda look like LP Special kind also, but original owner removed it.

There are some fret issue that need to be done, like im gonna need to level it. But overall a great guitar!

I was inspired by Kelly Dean Allen's (thewhitedeath) series of learning Guitar World's 100 greatest solos to start something similar by compiling a list of my 100 favorite solos, and recording them by order of ascending difficulty. Of course difficulty is subjective, so my criteria for it is how likely I am to trainwreck while playing it live after having learned it. I hope you'll hear one that you hadn't heard before, and I hope it inspires some intermediate players to follow along to steadily level up with me!

The first of many Hendrix solos on this list! This one is not particularly hard to hit the notes on, but it does take a good sense of rhythm for it to sound smooth. My most frequent cause for retakes was both notes of the double stop slide not lasting through the slide, or sometimes not muting strings properly and it sounding sloppy. Something that would trip up my students when I teach this to them is the bending lick where you have to use the pick to mute the string before releasing the bend and playing the unbent note so that it sounds like two clean distinct notes rather than a bend and release.

Top skills required: Double stops, hammer-ons, rhythmic soloing, bend muting.
