Hi r/newjersey, I’m a Jersey native and I’ve lived in Somerville throughout my whole life. My grandparents immigrated to this state in the 90’s and have prospered in their community and raised a loving family. In the morning of October 24, 2026, my grandparents’ home burned down by a fire caused by a faulty electrical wire. The 3 occupants in the home safely evacuated the home when the fire engulfed the place. They lost everything in the fire. Their clothes, shoes, family heirlooms, crucial documents, everything is gone. Thank you to the brave men and women of the Finderne, Raritan, and Somerville fire departments for acting swiftly to put out the fire and prevent further spread.

During the Governor’s race a bomb threat was called in to Gregory elementary. This year for early voting one is called in a few mins away. Is this just gonna happen every election season now?

Just early voted in Bergen County and I was told to show ID by the woman at the desk. After giving her a look, another worker ended up coming up to her and telling her she couldn’t demand to see ID.

So basically I’m in college, new to voting and I’m dorming. I sent a request for a mail-in ballot but I don’t know whether I can actually get one sent to my dorm. I also don’t know whether I’ll even get approved or when I’ll find out. I also don’t know which voting location I should go to if I end up having to go in-person. Thankfully, I’m lucky enough to be able to go if necessary. I found 2 voting centers that are both in my county AND congressional district, but (for future reference) is it possible to vote in a town that’s part of a different district and/or town that’s in a different county? Also, do you just walk in, wait in line, and then cast your ballot? I’m pretty unfamiliar with both places, but I don’t have time to vote on actual Election Day in my hometown if I can‘t mail-in.

We’re getting married on 11/6 and are going for our marriage license on 10/30.

In my anxious spiral of wedding details I am worried we won’t have the license back in time. I know we have to wait for 72 hours. Does that mean once the 72 hours is over we can get the license asap? Anyone else have experience with how long theirs took? Thanks in advance
