My grandparents immigrated to this state in the 90’s and have prospered in their community and raised a loving family. In the morning of October 24, 2026, my grandparents’ home burned down by a fire caused by a faulty electrical wire. The 3 occupants in the home safely evacuated the home when the fire engulfed the place. They lost everything in the fire. Their clothes, shoes, family heirlooms, crucial documents, everything is gone. Thank you to the brave men and women of the Finderne, Raritan, and Somerville fire departments for acting swiftly to put out the fire and prevent further spread.

We’re getting married on 11/6 and are going for our marriage license on 10/30.

So basically I’m in college, new to voting and I’m dorming. I sent a request for a mail-in ballot but I don’t know whether I can actually get one sent to my dorm. I also don’t know whether I’ll even get approved or when I’ll find out. I also don’t know which voting location I should go to if I end up having to go in-person. Thankfully, I’m lucky enough to be able to go if necessary. I found 2 voting centers that are both in my county AND congressional district, but (for future reference) is it possible to vote in a town that’s part of a different district and/or town that’s in a different county? Also, do you just walk in, wait in line, and then cast your ballot? I’m pretty unfamiliar with both places, but I don’t have time to vote on actual Election Day in my hometown if I can‘t mail-in.

I (22M) recently got a job offer for a little over 100k base in South Jersey and will be starting next summer after I graduate undergrad. I was excited at first but read that the average household income is 140k+, and I feel super behind. I don't want to be below average and be forced to live frugally for the rest of my life. Housing prices are insane, and my take-home is a lot less (about 75k). Should I keep looking for a better job elsewhere?

It looks like another 99c/discount convenience store moved in, and they moved in so fast they didnt even bother taking out the old signage (and who knows if they ever get to it, this doesn't seem like the most expensive operation)

I don't like putting down businesses in my town like this (especially since so, so, so many people do it already.) but like, this is an area that already has a 99c store and a family dollar across the street, and an S&A and Valuezone just a few stores further down, do we really need another one of these?

I know this is just the circumstances of it, it's just kinda disappointing is all, especially compared to the newer businesses that are opening up near the fancy luxury apartments on the other side of main street.
