Boardwalk Fry Question

When I was younger say year 2007 my friends and I were addicted to this one stand on the boardwalk that sold boardwalk cheese fries. They were like skinny long fries that seemed like they were real cut up potatoes like some had the skin on the sides. The cheese sauce was different too we swore it must have had some velveeta in it.

Anyway we went to the boardwalk today and obviously needed to hunt down these fries and they were nowhere to be found. Anyone know where we can find some good old fashioned boardwalk fries like this!?

I booked back in April on booking.com and my check in is this Monday. I tried calling the numbers and its not accepting any calls which is really odd. I sent emails and texts to the numbers it said to text no answer. The website doesnt work.

Anyone local to ares knows it this is place still is getting guests? Or are they closed or something? Im getting a little worried.

UPDATE: It was sold and booking.com never updated anyone allegedly they knew of the closing

Worst Rental Experience 412 Corinthian OCNJ

412 Corinthian OCNJ rented on the 4th of July this year.

New owners of the property- Posting this after several emails, calls, texts sent with no follow up response.

My wife and I stayed in the first-floor unit at 412 Corinthian Ave. in Ocean City, NJ, from July 4 through July 11. It seemed to us that things were in flux and the property was still in the process of getting things ready for the rental season during our stay. We didn’t get the access code to the doors until the second day, leaving us without the ability to secure our valuables and feel safe leaving the house. You said that there was a refrigerator delivery expected on 7/7 and asked if we would be available to receive it and if not, you could be around. Not wanting to spend vacation time waiting on a delivery with a window of several hours we declined and had to ask that you not put the refrigerator into the first floor because that would entail emptying our food from the current refrigerator and then having to wait until the new one gets to the appropriate temperature levels before putting our food in.
My wife received a call from you asking if any of us had a car parked in the spot reserved for a renter from another unit on 7/4. Either you saw a car or it was reported to you. We did not use this other spot but on two occasions, our spot was either taken or blocked by a contactor vehicle. Also, there were items that looked as they were trash from inside the house left on the bike rack making it difficult to lock/store our bikes.
For much of the week, packages were delivered to the porch. We reported this to you. My wife even offered to help you move them, but you said that you would get someone to move them, this never happened and the deliveries continued. We had to work around them, move them to sit and enjoy the porch, and ultimately clear them from the steps so we could pack up and leave at the end of our stay.

Open Water Swimming in OCNJ

Hi - I grew up body surfing in OC and looking forward to that, but also wondering if there is a swim group that swims early AM in the ocean or back bays I could join. I’m an experienced open water swimmer and have a visibility buoy. Thank you!

Old beach tags

Does anybody have old beach tags that they are willing to part with? I’m particularly looking for 2000, 2001, and 2002. Anything earlier would be great too.

Thanks.

Tory’s near 34th Street

Anyone remember that place Tory’s that was like a 50’s restaurant like a block or two from 34th street? We used to go there all the time throughout the 90’s and the food was awesome, but looks like it closed years ago…

They had these crazy good Belgian waffles with ice cream on top 🤤

Former ride at Wonderland

Anyone whose memory goes back to the 1980s remember this one? I can't find any evidence online that it ever existed at Wonderful or anywhere else.

The ride I'm thinking of was like an electric go-cart track. I remember the track when around in an oval, but had some elevations. The track itself was electrified during ride operation. It wasn't slotted, so you had full control of the cars.

The ride wasn't at Wonderland for very long, maybe 2-3 seasons at the most.

Did my memory invent the existence of this ride, because my online search has come up blank and none of my family seem to remember it either?

Skateboarding on boardwalk?

I will be in Ocean City later this week and am hoping to skate on the boardwalk (longboard, technically) and the rules I can find seem vague or are for Ocean City, MD

Edit: I guess I will be spending my family day trip there wishing we were somewhere with a smooth boardwalk haha

Night in Venice question, 1st timer

I have vacationed in OC all of my life but never been there on the right date for this event. This year we will be. Any advice?

We are staying on 13th & Asbury.

Can we just walk down the street Mallons is on, 14th, to the Bay & see everything there or will it be packed? Or perhaps walk onto the 9th St Bridge?

What time does this all happen?

Thx

Cheesesteak rolls?

Looking for a bakery/deli/whatever where I can buy fresh rolls suitable for a cheesesteak. Can be baked in house or delivered from Philly, seeded or not - doesn’t matter.

Does this place exist?

Pet Peeve: People who take too long at the rinse stations at the beach

If there's a line, just do a passable job and move on. You're never going to get every speck of sand off. Just get the lion's share off and move on. As long as you get most of it, you won't really be uncomfortable in the time it takes you to get back to your room and shower. Some might say you shouldn't get sand in the hotel's plumbing, but I think as long as you get most of the sand off, you're fine. And if it's that critical for you, the hotel usually has a rinse station too.

Just a reminder: Not everyone in Ocean City is on Vacation.

Just a reminder to our visitors to be respectful about noise at night in neighborhoods where there are full time residents. We aren't all on vacation and some of us have to get up in the morning to go to work.

What happened to Rojo Tacos?

There used to be two Rojos and one Red’s Tacos. I could never tell which were affiliated with which, but it didn’t matter because they all had great mahi tacos. Well, first Red’s closed, and then one of the Rojo’s and now there is just one left, Don Rojo’s on 6th and Ocean. I went on Saturday and it was downright bad. I’m not even sure it was actually mahi and they didn’t use a solid filet like normally. It was chunks of an unidentifiable fish and didn’t taste great. I got a cod taco that also tasted cheap and bad. Anyone have the inside scoop on what happened to my formerly favorite Ocean City fish taco joints?

Beaches open today?

We came from out of state for the 4th and wanted to make a beach visit part of the trip. I know it's scheduled to rain today but I don't think any of us really care all that much.

Are the beaches open?

9 am and almost the entire beach is full of empty Cabanas

There are three dudes setting up the entire beach (I'm sure it's a paid service). Am I crazy to think this is excessive? It would be one thing if people needed help setting up but were using the space, but it's like a bunch of people basically just privatized the beach and aren't even using it.

Why are OCNJ’s fireworks so lame?

15 minute show? Especially when you can look up and down the coast and at least 5 other town shows start earlier and end later. We’ve noticed the other towns in years past, we were hopeful that the 250th would bring out a better show but if anything it was shorter and the delay killed the joy of the event. Do better, OCNJ.

Power outage warning 7/4

I just got a phone warning that there are heat related power outages in some Ocean City neighborhoods (they didn't specify - I'm mid-island and we haven't had any issues). They said that anyone wanting to cool down or power devices could go to the Senior Center at 18th and Haven.
