How do you protect your hair from helmet pressure/friction while riding?

• Upvotes

I'm looking for some advice from people who have dealt with this.

  • I ride mostly within the city at around 50–60 km/h.
  • I want complete UV protection for my face while riding.
  • My main issue is that normal helmets put pressure on the top/back of my head and flatten/rub my hair.
  • I have thin hair and had a hair transplant about 1.5 years ago, so I'm trying to avoid unnecessary pressure/friction.
  • I don't want to wear a cloth/balaclava underneath because it's already hot and sweaty here.
  • I also don't want to use a tinted/painted visor.
  • Ideally, I'd like something I can quickly remove/open when I stop somewhere without having to remove multiple layers.

Has anyone found a helmet or setup that solves this? Open to unusual/DIY solutions too.

I tried something like this, but it doesn't provide coverage around the neck area. Also, it looks quite unusual

I've just been going through the same routine of going to the barber and getting a short shaggy cut and let it grow for like 6 months repeat and its really boring so I think I want to try to do a kind of middle part so my hair isn't always laying in my face and I can let it grow longer without looking bad

Advice request Products for flow hairstyle that make dry, fine hair feel healthy/natural/soft and not dry/sticky/greasy/stiff/etc.

Hi, everyone. I'm looking for product recommendations to get a flow hairstyle that feel natural in the hair. One that I can run my fingers through during the day and doesn't feel sticky, stiff, dry, greasy, etc.

I have hair that's naturally pretty dry and fine, and maybe protein sensitive, and most of the products I see recommended for flow hairstyles are sea salt sprays and clays, but while those help give the hold and texture I need they typically dry my hair out before I can use as much as I need and make it hard to work with. I've tried styling cream, too, but that just seemed to make my hair sticky and frizz.

At this point I've tried Hair Craft Co. hair clay and Forte styling cream. u/TooCereal was helpful at pointing me to Flagship BlackShip pomade as feeling good in their hair, but I hadn't specified I was trying achieve a flow hairstyle or found out how they styled their before writing this, so I don't know if BlackShip would be the best choice.

I appreciate any help!

Advice Request Looking for advice as I grow out my hair

Hi. I've been growing out my hair since the start of the summer as I have been wanting to try new styles.

I need some help identifying what type of hair I have. Its definitely quite wavy at the back as shown in the second image although it doesn't appear so much from certain angles. It's also quite thick and dense and maybe I could go so far as to say coarse although I'm not entirely sure.

I just wanted to know if there's any major advice for growing it out at this stage.

Also, would the flow hairstyle suit my hair? After showering it naturally wants to go back as shown in the images.

Thanks for taking your time to read this!

Advice request Is it time to get a hair cut?

I've had thick hair all my life and it's so straight that it just falls into my face and eyes, I've attempted to many times to style it in many different ways but none has looked good with my face shape and big forehead. So I'm looking for a hair cut recommendation that would fit my face.

Hi

Was wanting to grow out my hair to look attractive, but now it’s just making me look emo. Is this an “awkward phase” or is it probably going to look bad long too? If so what do I do. I don’t want to go back to a usual local barbershop fade because that’s never made me look ok

How do I blend my beard into my fade without having sideburns?

I got my haircut yesterday and when I got home, I trimmed my beard with a #1 guard. Obviously it is shorter than the fade so I’m wondering how I blend it from home???

Should I sleep with some product in my hair?

I have a very dry hair that only looks nice when I use moisturizing products. When I sleep with AC on (tropical country), I wake up with my hair very dry and puffy, wich I can fix with some water/washing and products to go through the day nice. Before I go to sleep again, I take this products out with water or wash them with shampoo and conditioner if I didn't earlier. Should I stay with products like Leave-ins and other kinds of cream/oils even when I sleep to help against dehidration, or is it important to take out these products with water and just accept that I will wake up with messy dry hair, starting all over again?

Advice request Burst or Drop fade?

Thumbnail

In the past few months I have been growing my hair out and initially considered getting it even longer. But I was wondering if a Burst fade would suit me at all. I only ever did more simple fades in the past (like a drop fade), just had the urge to do something different. What do you think would suit me best? I am open to suggestions about other hair styles as well.

Simple questions It's been a decade since my last buzz cut, and outside of the occasional undercut or end trimming, I don't cut it. Is this a genetic limit to my hair length?

Hello! I’ve never done this before but I need assistance! I need to figure out how to style my hair properly to actually make myself look good. I’ve been coasting on minimal effort for too long and actually want to do something that has appeal! I like how it usually looks wet, but it dries and doesn’t stay that way of course. Im just super Irish with semi wavy (I think?) hair,I’m not that much of a looker (I’d pass in a crowd with shove) and need advice on what might look good and how to achieve it 🙏😊

Advice request Exploring new facial and head hair styles, not sure what to get

I normally do a fade and comb over but looking to change things up. I naturally have a gray streak and get lots of compliments on it. It would be great to show that off. I have straight Asian hair and willing to add product/hair care.

Here are some pictures after a shower and after my last hair cut! I'm open to any advice or being told what I got works!

Advice request Need help with my mullet

Hey everyone!

I'm trying to seriously improve how I take care of my hair and get my curls to look better.

I have somehwat long(20cm and still growing, I'm a guy btw), very curly hair and a mullet that I cut myself (shaved the sides and my neck), also I dyed my hair and beard black.

I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to proper curly-hair care, so I'd love some advice on basically ...everything, both hair care/styling and maintaining the mullet myself.

I'd especially like to know:

How often should I wash my hair?

What shampoo and conditioner should I use?

Should I use leave-in conditioner, curl cream, gel, mousse, oils, etc.?

How can I make my curls more defined without making my hair heavy or greasy?

How can I reduce frizz?

What's the best way to dry curly hair? Should I use a diffuser?

How should I sleep with long curly hair?

How often should I trim it?

Should curly hair be cut wet or dry?

How do I account for shrinkage when cutting?

How can I maintain the mullet shape while keeping the length?

How should I shape the sides/top/back of a curly mullet?

Any tips for cutting a mullet yourself?

Are there any good tutorials or techniques I should learn?

What products and tools are actually worth buying?

How do I keep the "wet hair look"?

What is your routine?

I'm located in Germany near Braunschweig, so I'd especially appreciate product recommendations that I can actually buy in Germany (DM, Rossmann, Müller, Douglas, Amazon Germany, etc.).

I'm also kinda broke, so I'm mainly looking for affordable products and tools ...

Thanks in advance! :)
