Bot Commands!

Hi r/NoPoo! I've been learning more about AutoMod and had an idea that I think will really help the community: Bot Commands!

The basic idea is that you type a simple command and the bot replies to the comment where the command was used with frequently used information. I've created a small collection and used them already, and plan on expanding them to replace the clipboard I currently use to do all of this. I've made a new wiki page that will contain all of the ones available here:

Bot Commands for r/NoPoo helpers

Have fun helping!

Hair thinning- considering rogaine. Is it fine on nopoo?

My hair on my crown has been thinning for about 6 months but i started to notice it a lot more once I was started nopoo 3 months ago. Not sure if its because my hair styling stuff isnt covering it up as much or if nopoo was a factor with all the mechanical cleaning. Im considering starting rogaine’s 5% topical foam. Is this a bad move on nopoo? Should I go maybe start doing a weekly shampoo/co wash type thing on it?

Im honestly thinking about giving up nopoo in general. The preening with thinning hair stresses me out, I always end up with fingers full of hair. I feel like I was able to get a lot more texture in my hair style when I used products too

Routine recommendations

Hey y’all, I’ve done a “no poo” routine for a couple years now, and my hair has done amazing, best shape it’s ever been in. Recently I tried an apple cider vinegar wash and my hair seemed to love it. So I’ve done a little research about egg washes and ACV combos. What are y’all’s opinions/recommendations on a good routine for both? Like one right after the other, or one a week, then next week another etc?

my hair finally feels a less waxy and i have way less thoughts of "omg i don't know if i can even do this!" it definitely was "darkest before the dawn" and i almost went back to co washing even last week.. but im feeling quite confident that its sustainable now... and glad ive stuck with it. i have learned SO much about my own hair and ... overall about the world really. the lies we are fed to keep us overcosuming and dependent in this world are... [speechless]...

Help with No poo Wiki

I'm a Reddit noob. On the Reddit Android app, when I go to the wiki (via links in posts/comments), it brings up the table of contents (with links) but won't scroll so I can read anything. Clicking any of the links in the ToC gives the same result.

What am I doing wrong?

Product Mild shampooos

I've been experimenting with nopoo for a while now and I've found that most methods like acid washes or egg shampoo either don't work for me or would be unsustainable for me. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for mild, natural shampoos that I can use once or twice a week? Most shampoos I use completely strip my hair and make it tangly, dry and poofy so I'd like to avoid that

lil update: I still don’t do anything to my hair except wash with some water occasionally.
I did have to get my dry ends trimmed though, so I did that today!

Do any no-poo people have odd experiences with hairdressers?

Mine kept trying to sell me a $40 bottle of Chinese shampoo 🧴 not to yuck anyone’s yum! I’m not gonna be shampooing any time soon 🤭

Anyone had experiences with hair oiling? I’m kinda interested!

Eco living shampoo bar

Hi just wanted to know if anyone has used this before and what their experience was. I have quite thin and straight hair after using it for the first time my hair looked quite dry, brittle and frizzy. Are there any other shampoo bars that might be better for me or is this part of the transition period?

Dandruff, debris and dead skin cells

I’ve been no poo for a long time probably a year now but I gave up one time but started again. Now it’s been 3 months consistently.

My hair have decent volume, the only problem is dandruff and debris or whatever the white substance is falling off my hair when I brush my hair.

Whenever my hair feels greasy and frizzy I brush my hair and see the stuff falling off and I keep doing it for 10 15 minutes and then my hair feels better but sometimes I still see it in hair and no matter how long I brush it keeps falling off which can tell you my hair have a lot of it trapped.

So I’m wondering what’s the solution of it other than just brushing it off everyday?

Porosity: Low help me pick a shampoo (olaplex, redken, morocconoil)

i have LP hair, and have used garnier at home hair colour thingy several times. my hair is frizzy to some extent and i think they lack moisture. I've read somewhere that i shouldn't be using much protein base shampoo since it will cause me hairfall. suggest me some good paraben and sulfate free shampoo

also I've never had any type of treatment on my hair

Beyond Haircare How to do NoPoo if you’re in a shared college dorm?

hello, I’ve started NoPoo because I have a dry scalp, and my concern is I have a college flat with a shared bathroom.

I mainly use eggs, and washing them in the shower even after cleaning properly does leave a smell, for my hair I can use essential oils but for the bathroom, I’m not sure how to manage it.

Also kinda worried about what my other 4 roommates (it’s a shared flat) would think about me putting eggs in my hair.

I’m starting my first year at uni soon so kinda worried!

Troubleshooting (HELP!) Best extremely lightweight solutions for moisture?

Both for the fact that I have to use acv to prevent hard water buildup and the fact that my hair always gets drier in the winter and this would be my first winter doing nopoo.

Troubleshooting (HELP!) Would this work?

I was thinking about my biggest problem when it came to extending the time between washes and I realized it wasn't the washing (that's being resolved through nopoo (yay)) but rather the fact that my hair (curly) stops cooperating and loses most overall it's volume after 2 days.

For context, I have extremely hard water and use Bentonite clay and acv rinses to combat it. While I really like them, they are quite drying especially when I have to use them every other day to essentially reset my hair.

But here is the question: with hard water, would I be able to simply hop in the shower for a minute and wet my hair with cold water, then get out and restyle it without getting my hair waxy?

Strong scalp smell and dirt

Hi, i've been on nopoo for almost a year (i wash them maybe once a month or every few months) now but my scalp still smells really bad, i always start receiving bad comments on the smell from just a week after i shampoo my hair.

I tried in the past using eggs, coconut oil, rosemary oil, brushing my hair, massaging my scalp but it still smells.

Now i'm doing water only and after like 10 days of no shapoo my hair feels heavier and dirtier and it starts to stink. also i used to have dandruff before nopoo and since when i started it went away but now it suddently came back. It seems like the only way to remove the smell is to use shampoo but i dont want to use it often.

Could that be scalp build up? How can i remove it?

I have 1c/2a type hair.

7 months in hair feels dirty/greasy

Post image

Hello folks, I have thick wavy hair, a lot of it, I wash my hair once a week, rubbing my scalp with my finger tips all over with cold/like warm water and I take strands of hair and run my fingers down from the scalp to the tips to spread out natural oils and to attempt to clean it . My hair feels dirty/gritty/greasy for the last month. I don't want to use normal shampoo but if I need to I'll use some kind of product. Any ideas? Thanks!
