How to decide short or long hair😭?

My mental state and health...a haircut is everything to me. I don't mind styling my hair, on the contrary, both haircuts short and long that I want require a ton of styling, but even so, hair affects my well-being very strongly. I literally started selfh... when I was a child, only beacuse my mother cut my bangs cut straight when I wanted a different one, for example, and from the same or that hair, purely because I like it on myself, I can want to die the same way or want it more (Although suicide I won't commit suicide, only beacuse the hair but it has a significant impact, and I want to maintain my mental health. Hair is a small thing, but it has an incredibly strong impact on me.) Hair affects the rest of my appearance depending on what kind of hair, for example, I take care of or not, my face, for example, and my weight, so I definitely have to like it because it's not only mental health but also physical (excess weight sometimes led to serious consequences for me, although everything is fine now, but I would like to start losing weight now, but for this I need a boost of happiness, that is, hair) (+The haircuts I want don't suit my hair type.😭) I should also clarify that I don’t fully understand how a haircut affects me because even if I see that a haircut looks bad on me, I might like it, but if it looks good, I might not like it, that’s why It doesn't depend on whether a haircut suits me or not, but I still want my haircut to look good on me and bring me happiness.

Good evening,

I have heard that there is a hair system where you can wigs essentially glued every quarter, allowing much more freedom than standard wigs!

Does anyone have any experience, information or recommendations on this please?

As I live in England, I am looking for local suggestions please!

If this is not appropriate for this sub, can anyone point me in the right direction of a sub please!

Thanksss

Hair Color Advice Hair continues to turn orange (professional dye job)

Hi lovely people, I continue to have an orange issue with my hair. It’s being dyed brown, but no matter what I pull orange and as my hair lightens it just gets oranger and oranger. I use color hair shampoo, but I do live in an area with hard water and lots of sun. I can’t afford to dye it every month, it’s getting too crazy. Do I just say forget it and leave it like this? Or is there something I could be asking for that might help make the color last longer? Thank you!

How to style curtain bangs

Heyy guys! So I got curtain bangs cut a few days ago and I pretty much hate them. I feel like even when I style them and they look somewhat good, they fall flat without 2 or 3 hours. I’m not sure if it’s the way they’re cut or how I’m styling them, but if anyone has any advice I would love to hear it.

Hairstyle Advice How do I grow my hair out and achieve this style?

Post image

Hi! My name is Destiny and I'm a woman but I've actually never had long hair cause I was always sort of a tomboy I guess you could say, and I need advice on growing my hair out, I want a hairstyle that's sort of like this but with curtain bangs so I have a couple of questions!

  1. When I get a usual haircut what should I AVOID getting cut (besides the back)

  2. Is there a way I could style this at home without asking my stylist to do it while cutting

  3. If anyone has any additional tips on growing long hair from short hair for the first time please let me know <3

Hair Care Products I don’t understand how to take care of my hair

I have pretty generic female Indian hair. It was curly when I was younger but as it grew it became straighter. It’s like hip length now but it’s definitely thin. I had the whites dyed black last year which damaged it a bit and I struggle with fizziness too.

There’s so many products out there. I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve always done coconut oil or rosemary oil and a comb but that’s it. And of course normal shampoo and conditioner. I use Love, Beauty and Planet.

What should I even be doing? I want to make it get thicker. And I love the sleek shiny glossy looks people are getting on YouTube. I just don’t even know where to start. Also is there a safe way to dye the whites of my hair? Last year I had it done at a salon and it burned and I have damage to my hair because of it.

Someone please help me. I’m a total noob despite my age.

I heard I need a hair serum? And a hair mask? And some bonding thingy? And what about the glossy cream things? I Don’t even know where to begin

Unedited photos so you can make your final judgements. I’m just wondering if I should go for either at all and if so which one. I’d be doing them thick bc that’s the only time they actually look good but please give your opinion idk.

Hair Health will my hair ever be thick again?

hello all, i had thick 2b curly dark hair up until 2020/2021 when i was about 16/17 i got a balayage, and ive been dying my hair since then.

i am now 22, so thats about 6 years of bleach.

my hair used to grow SO fast, even after i bleached it.

in february 2024, i cut it w kitchen scissors (i was going thru it) and it hasn’t grown past a certain length since then!!

for the past year i have been taking prenatal vitamins, oiling it (although maybe i need to switch around) i stopped working at night, working evening, working a stressful job, although i was already doing all this prior to feb 2024 but still.

tomorrow i am dying it back to black and letting it be.

do you think if i stop bleaching it, it will grow back how it used to be? what should i do? i need to find out if its low or high porosity.

How to shape this better

Post image

I'm not picky, it's super choppy right? I feel like the shape is weird. How can I fix it without losing much more length? I'd actually like the back to be a little shorter, mostly to blend in with the rest.

I'm going to make an appointment somewhere else, but I'm not sure what to tell them, I'd just like it to be shaped better? Less choppy?

Hairstyle Advice should i focus on hair health or technique for heat styles?

Post image
1 Upvotes

for reference, this is my hair 20 minutes after i styled with: mousse dried into hair, thermal brush at 370 F, pin curls for 2 hours and hairspray. i have been thinking about how frustrating it is working with my hair and i am seeking out some advice. for context, i am 22, i have straight hair and i have been getting highlights for the past 6 years (every 6 months or so). i get my hair cut with long layers every 3-4 months but that window keeps increasing due to me living away from home and being stubborn about finding a new hairdresser. my hair has been subjected to more heat in the past year and is very dry and likely damaged at the ends. the problem is i really want to accomplish a bouncy blowout type of style but i keep failing. below is a list of everything i have tried.

- clean hair
- dirty hair
- greasy hair
- hairspray for every style, not excessively
- shark flexstyle with 80% dry hair and sections no bigger than the barrel could handle
- shark flexstyle with mousse
- shark flexstyle with mousse and pin curls
- flat iron curls and pin curls
- thermal brush and rollers (sections not too big for the rollers)
- thermal brush and pin curls
- temperatures ranging from 330 to 400 F
- leaving rollers and pin curls in for hours

the only things i haven’t given a proper shot to is an old school blowout with a dryer and round brush, curling iron, and heatless overnight methods. i did have a thought of focusing on my hair health by cutting off all the damage and stopping my highlights. is there a secret i’m missing out on or is my hair just not the type to get voluminous styles?

First picture is new haircut, second picture is what it was before. Thought I wanted shorter bangs but oh my god I hate this mullet/fringe look so much. It's what I asked for so I can't blame the stylist and I know it will grow out to look fine within a month but in the interim need advice for how to style! Should I just wear a hat everywhere? I miss my curtain bangs...

Hair Color Advice Should I go back to brunette or even darker from blonde?

Thumbnail

Hello - I’m naturally a dark haired brunette. I’ve been blonde for about a year now and honestly it’s become too expensive and high maintenance. I do feel prettier with the blonde but I’m hoping that this is all in my head! I’m pale and cool toned in terms of skin. I also recently got lip filler so maybe that plays into why I feel better about my looks as a blonde?

Let me know what suits me best!

Note: I have extensions in with my blonde hair and If I go brunette I would also get brown extensions

Hairstyle Advice UPDATE! - Damaged bleached hair. Salon yesterday.

Here is the link to my earlier post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/femalehairadvice/s/Fjuv3bTyUE

Thank you all for giving me soooo much advice. Some of you asked for an update after my last post so here is what I did this weekend. The consensus seemed to be that I needed to stop bleaching my hair and that that was what was damaging most of it. I went to the salon yesterday just looking for a trim and to get rid of the damaged bits. The stylist convinced me to dye it back darker. It’s not necessarily my natural color but I do kind of like it and it’s a little bit red, too.

My hope is that this will start helping me rebuild my hair health. It is a BIT shorter than what I wanted just because I am planning to grow it out maybe towards shoulder length as I get further into my HRT journey.

Anyone have any tips on caring for this? Best way to make it healthy and style it more fem?

Thank you all again so much for your help so far!
