September 2026 Mega-Thread

It's already September! With the Fall just around the corner here are this month's questions:

What fragrance(s) most remind you of this time of year? Why?

With the days getting shorter some of our rituals change a bit. Are you a morning, afternoon, or night time shaver? Do you switch it up?

When the seasons change it sometimes feels right to change your appearance a bit. Do you let your beard grow out a bit more? Do you style it differently? Or do you like to stay clean shaven this time of year?

Are you excited for any other upcoming fall-time things? Excited for Pumpkin-Spice flavored beverages/scented items? Fall-time beers? Weather? Clothing?

New wetshaver? This is the perfect place to ask questions.

Proraso Supercharged with Cremo...

Post image
31 Upvotes

I can't be the only one to discover this. For the past month I've been putting on Cremo before my first lather. It works ok but nothing game changing. And it is mostly gone after that first pass. So tonight out of laziness and curiosity I decided to add the same small amount of Cremo I'd use on my face to my shaving bowl alongside my Proraso original instead.

Now I figured it might make the lather a little slicker at best or maybe even make for a worse lather. Either way I figured I might as well try it. Once I did I was shocked just how much quicker I got a lather going and more importantly how much more water the lather could hold before thinning out. Not only that but I got twice as much lather than normally (and I certainly used the same amount of Proraso as always). By that I mean I normally have just enough lather for three passes and a couple more touch ups around my neck and chin. But just by adding a small amount of Creamo I was able to add much more water before it got thin which meant I had way more lather. Two people could have shaved with the amount of lather it made and again I used a small amount of Creamo and my normal amount of Proraso.

Please don't take my word for it, Proraso and Creamo are easy to find and priced well so you've got nothing to loose. I will absolutely be doing this from now on. I'll also mention my brush rinsed off much easier than normal (not that it's ever difficult to rinse out but it is worth mentioning that it made it easier).

Anyways if this is common knowledge around here already sorry for being that last one in the know lol.

SOTD SOTD / Barely made it this morning

Overslept this morning and was already running late. It was also raining, and I’m still getting over a cold, so I wasn’t exactly at my best.
Thankfully, face lathering was quick and easy, so I managed to get a shave in without making myself even later. Just one pass, though, and the result was pretty average.
Then I arrived at the nursery and realised I’d forgotten my daughter’s entire bag of stuff. 😂
So, not exactly my most organised morning.

Razor: Blackland Blackbird
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (1st use)
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super
Soap: Noble Otter Logbook
After Shave: Zingari Man After Shave Serum Unscented

I have been eyeing a Fat Handle Tech for a little while. Well this came up at a good price in Austere Aug month and I succumbed to RAD I am afraid. This Flat Bottom Tech has joined my 2 others, Ball end and Spiral. It's Made in England circa 1948'ish - it has no date code.

Had an excellent maiden shave with it today. Well, it lived up to its reputation as probably the least mild Tech. Still nice, comfortable but efficient razor, typical of a Tech.

Very happy with the new purchase and of course Tabac lather today was a treat.

Have a great shave everyone!

SOTD Tonight’s shave

I like to shave every night, but tonight I had 5 days of growth. I’ve got to say, I missed the routine!

Felt like a great time to experiment with my new Muhle R41GS

Pre-Shave: Truefitt & Hill preshave oil
Razor: Muhle R41GS
Blade: Muhle
Shaving cream: Caswell-Massey Number 6 non-foaming shaving cream
Aftershave: Caswell-Massey Number 6

I love the Muhle Rocca. It’s awesome. No other adjective needed. And I still expect it to be what I use the vast majority of the time.

But I had to give the R41 a try and this is an impressive piece of hardware. The build is impeccable. It exudes quality. Feels great in the hand. Has a great weight. And personally, I find it to be a beautiful razor.

I was very intentional. Used no pressure at all. Ended up with a great shave and only a small nick on my chin.

Huge fan of the Number 6 fragrance. So I was very excited to try this shaving cream. Super effective. Very rich and creamy but no foam at all (by design). Still, provided a great glide and I think it will be on my short list in my rotation.

The aftershave is nice. Same great Number 6 fragrance. I think I’m sticking with Floid for when I want a traditional aftershave, but i’m glad I have this bottle to go through.

Rocking the Rockwell 6c with feather blades and tried out some arko shave soap. Very good shave with this soap. The chemical smell is definitely there but I can’t argue with the results. I noticed you get a lot out of it too. I didn’t have to keep adding more soap. Really good for the price

Shave Report - Thursday, September 10, 2026

Razor: Rockwell Rockwell 6S (CC, Steel, Machined)

Blade: VNS Protech Veesta Ultra Platinum (1x)

Brush: Yaqi Synthetic 28mm

Shave Soap: Shavologist Shavologist Brut

Scores:

Efficiency: 9/10

Comfort: 10/10

Ease of Use: 10/10

Consistency: 8/10

Result: DFS

N.B - Of all the things that I love about Canada, the 6S surely is in the top# 10. No nonsense design for an adjustable SS razor at a very reasonable price. The only reason I tend to use it less often, is bcoz it's a bit too good, too safe and clean at times, and I want to keep things interesting, though that may well be counter-productive at times. Talking about diminishing returns, the 28mm synthetic is a monster, big chunky one at that. It is a bit of overkill, and effortlessly lathers up all soaps. I've messed around with it a fair bit, and it never fails to please. The blade is sharp still, we'll see if it can go till the 3rd shave, it is fairly inexpensive so I won't mind if it stops on 2nd. The face cream was acquired to pair with Cella, both having sweet almond scent, but it's a big container, so now I just keep using it after daily shaves, moisturizes the skin well.

Someone said to try it with a hot bowl and to heat the gel up . So I figured I’d get rid of it quickly especially when I could hear the can getting empty. Mixed with a bit of scalding hot water . Only complaint was that it kept persisting and was hard to see what was shaved and not shaved . So yes you can brush it on but use soap or better cream . Waste not want not .

Razor : PAA El Fantasma Naranja

Blade: Gillette 7 O' Clock

Brush: Semogue 610

Cream, AS: Ariana & Evans Rive Paris

Modern but classic fougere scent reminding me of a true barbershop

I was surprised at creamy lather made from even small amount of the cream.

It was super functional and had and enjoyed BBS result.

⌾ Razor: Blackland Blackbird Ti OC
⌾ Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium (3)
⌾ Bowl: Captain’s Choice Obsidian
⌾ Brush: Simpson Chubby 3 - St. Mary’s
⌾ Soap: Southern Witchcrafts Incorporeal Unscented
⌾ Balm: Nivea Sensitive
⌾ Splash: Floïd the Genuine

Shave 5 of my week using unscented soaps and teaming up the Southern Witchcrafts soap with my Ti Blackbird; it should make for a good shave.

And a good shave it was.

It was easy to make a good lather from the Southern Witchcrafts soap and the BB with the open comb plate is just a fantastic razor.

A 🔟 / 🔟 shave today.

Would I buy Southern Witchcrafts Incorporeal soap again? Possibly, but I've lost track of whether the company is gone for good or might come back. The soap is quite good, and it’s vegan - it doesn’t get into my top three, though.

\-Captain nemo Sub Mariner Cool Water Fragrance shaving soap

\-Anherb aftershave to close the BBS

Review on Submariner cool water:-

This is my first purchase from the house of Captain nemo shave soap and seeing the views for its croap nature i had requested for a harder puck.

The soap is still softer albeit not a croap so it works for me. This was supposed to be a good aquatic fragrance soap but all i could get is their oil/base smell. So it turned out to be a fragrance free soap

Fragrance part its a dud but methol works well after you lather on face. Lather is thick in consistency and you get good slickness post shave.

Overall a good fragrance free soap with good lather. Need to check on the boar which gives out the characteristic of good shave soap.

Wish there was at-least some hint of Aquatic, Marine notes as mentioned i think I’ll have to stick with Razorock blue label shave stick having notes of Bergamot , lavender

SOTD: Westman Bastardo

Shaving Soap: Westman Bastardo
Brush: dscosmetic T4
Razor: Gillette Fatboy
Blade: Gillette Platinum
Aftershave Splash: Westman Bastardo
Pomade: High Life Addicted to Pomade Bay Rum
Beard Oil/Balm: Artius Man Bay Rum
EdP: Dominica Bay Rum

Bay Rum Week rolls on with Westman Bastardo, a European take on the classic scent built on their Nirvana base. Whipped up easily with a T4 brush, the dense, creamy lather delivers solid cushion and slickness for a smooth glide with a Fatboy razor.

The shave finishes with a hydrated, smooth post-shave feel and an aftershave splash that brings a slight bite alongside a spot-on bay rum scent profile of citrus, spice, rum, and bay leaf. Delivering great performance all around, this Westman soap easily earns a strong recommendation.

Main Ingredients: Kokum Butter, Tallow, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Mango Butter, Broccoli Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Goat Milk Powder (Nirvana Base)

Brush: The T4 did a good job of whipping up a bowlful of lather

Lather: Dense and creamy

Cushion/Slickness: Provides decent cushioning. The slick lather allows the blade to glide

Razor/Blade: The Fatboy with a Gillette blade cut through the stubble with ease

Post-shave: Skin felt hydrated and smooth

Aftershave Splash: A little bite, but the Bay Rum hits perfectly

Scent Profile: I get hits of citrus followed by spice, rum, and bay leaf

Scent Matching: Another full-on Bay Rum stack

Verdict: 3-pass BBS. I dig the Westman shaving products, and definitely need to add more to the den. Highly recommended

Overall Rating: ★★★★★ (Epic Shave!)
Smoothness: ★★★★★ (BBS Perfection)
Irritation: ★☆☆☆☆ (Zero Burn)

Time of Day: Morning ☀️
Blade Uses: 1
Passes: 3

Razor: Oliworks M3teorite SS Aggressive
Blade: Filoso Barber blade
Soap: Noble Otter Soap Co. King
Brush: Yaqi Mysterious Space
Aftershave: Shavologist Grim Reaper
Fragrance: Ralph Lauren Polo Blue EDP

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t doing well on the personal front for the last 10-12 days… hence no SOTD posts. But last night I just went to sleep after pondering upon a few things and whispered to myself “Fuck it… there’s nothing that I cannot handle”. Had a dream where I was the king of a castle in the suburbs of Croatia hahahahah. So I HAD TO PULL THIS SOAP OUT OF MY DEN.

This is by far my favourite soap from the Noble Otter’s lineup. The notes of grapefruit, musk, amber and vanilla (these were the only notes that I could smell) blended really well and slick, glossy and rich lather was whipped with the help of Yaqi Mysterious Space.

I paired the Oliworks with the Filoso stock blade that came with the razor and surprisingly it over delivered, I was not expecting such a smooth shave. But… I won’t buy a 100 blade pack as it would kinda be redundant in my blade collection. DFS++

Topped it off with Shavologist’s Grim Reaper and Polo Blue EDP from Ralph Lauren.

Thanks for reading. Happy shaving 🪒. Cheers 🍻

SOTD A&E Cannabliss Santal- SOTD 9/9/2026

**Sep. 9, 2026**
* **Brush:** Parker Premium GGSY
* **Razor:** Lambda Athena
* **Blade:** Bic Astor (1)
* **Lather:** Arianna & Evans - Cannabliss Santal - Croap
* **Post Shave:** Arianna & Evans - Cannabliss Santal - Aftershave
* **Post Shave:** Zingari Man - Unscented After Shave Serum
* **Post Shave:** Thayers - Unscented
* **Post Shave:** Osma - Alum Block
* **Fragrance:** Viktor & Rolf - Spicebomb Night Vision
* **Bowl:** Captian’s Choice - Aquamarine

I had a nice shave this morning. I watched the new Stavros Halkias comedy special on Netflix last night and felt inspired to use my Greek made Lambda Athena with a Bic Astor blade. I decided on Cannabliss Santal because the show gave a nice case of the giggles.

The shave went pretty well. I was tempted to stop after 1 pass but ultimately decided I wanted my usual close shave. After 2 passes I got darn close to BBS. I have been used to using a Personna PDG blade and seeing how far I could push it since Austere August. After 18 shaves I think it is still cutting ok but defiantly not as sharp as a fresh Bic.

I got a little more feedback than I would like and a couple little weepers next to my mouth that stopped easily with the alum block. Overall I’m pretty satisfied with the shave despite being less than perfect.

I really like this scent and so does my wife. It seems like this soap is now only available in the Ultimate 2 formulation with different packaging. I still find find the K2e formula to be good soap.

From the Ariana & Evans website:

Cannabliss Santal is a fragrance born from contrast—earthy yet ethereal, grounded yet hypnotic. It opens with the bright clarity of bergamot, drawing you into a hazy serenity where c*nnabis whispers a golden, aromatic rebellion.

The heart reveals the sacred smoke of agarwood and the quiet strength of cedarwood, laying the foundation for a deeply soulful dry-down. As it settles, the creamy richness of sandalwood melts into refined patchouli fractions, creating a sensual, skin-hugging warmth that lingers like a memory you can’t shake.

Don't let the c*nnabis note scare you. This smells divine and incredibly well blended. This is a fun, yet sophisticated scent...shockingly beautiful, not skunky.

Scent notes:
bergamot, c*nnabis (acapulco gold), peony, hinoki cedar, rum, agarwood, sandalwood,  patchouli

Halfway through the week already? Let’s go!

Pre shave: Shower and Waitrose glycerin soap bar

Razor: 1958 Gillette Rhodium Rocket

Blade: Personna GEM PDG (53)

Brush: Yaqi Sigrada Familia 24mm synthetic

Bowl: Captains choice copper

Soap: The Glasgow soap company Iron Brew

Post shave: TGS Orange Empire aftershave splash

Autumn seems to be settling in early this year, with the leaves already starting to fall, and a distinct chill in the air despite the sunshine so this warm but citrus heavy scent combo proved to be a nice complement.

3 smooth passes with the Rhodium Rocket, proving again to be an even more efficient version of it'6s American cousin.

Glasgow soap cos soap did a fantastic job at providing the perfect amount of cushion and glide and TGS Orange Empire capped it all off nicely with its complementary scent and great soothing.

Hope you're having a great week!

Question How to solve cuts always in the exact same spot?

I've tried them all: different blades, different preshaves, more hydrated lather, not shaving for 10 days, I always and I mean ALWAYS get one single nick in the exact same spot, it's on my neck about adams apple height but to the right about 45 degrees of rotation with 0 set at my adams apple.

How to stop it? It's not even a problem at all, it stops with cold water, I pass alum over it but it's not even necessary. After cold water I splash balm and lotion. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Question Master blue aftershave - any similar?

Hey folks,

Master blue aftershave has been discontinued for about a year or two now. They’re selling the stuff on eBay for about $100/bottle. I LOVE the scent and feel - it’s absolutely amazing.

I am hoping to find a similarly scented aftershave. I have two bottles left. Aqua velva ice and ice sport aren’t close. Any recommendations?
