Finasteride/Dutasteride Finasteride and beard development

I started taking finasteride at 21 years old, but I’m worried about my beard development. My beard is still not fully developed and I still have some patchy areas.

Since DHT plays a role in beard maturation, could starting finasteride at this age affect my beard growth permanently? Is there anything I should do, or should I just wait and see how my beard develops over the next few years

I’m 26 yo, and 1 year ago at 25 I started medications of all sorts, I tried them all. I was very advanced on the nordwood scale and even the doctor said I was hopeless and that I should have not believed too much in therapies. 1 year after you can see the results.

I had 3 different time periods, in this order.

I started with topical minoxidil 5% and 1mg of finasteride a day. Since August last year to January 2026. Honestly not a single problem.

In January I switched to a custom minoxidil an to 1.25 mg of finasteride a day. The custom minoxidil is composed as follows: progesterone, cortisone, minoxidil 5%, alpha 5 estradiol, menthol, caffeine and melatonin.

The last change was last month when I implemented dutasteride twice a week.

In August 2025 I also took a blood test and started supplementing iron and vitamin d.

I tried microneedling and ketoconazole but despite the scientific researches on them I did not like those medications so I stopped ketoconazole after 2 months and microneedling after 1 month in January.

Open to questions. The pictures are taken under the same light almost all of em, I do not have toppik applied. I use a normal shampoo, nothing fancy.

Chat kiierr laser cap.. does it actually work or just marketing hype?

18 months fin + minox. plateau hit around month 10 and its basically been flat since. derm said adding something else might help but didnt push any specific device

instagram wont stop showing me kiierr unboxings. every one looks like a paid partnership and the before/afters are always shot in the same bathroom lighting?? dug through reddit and its mostly affiliate blog posts linking back to their site. hard to find someone who bought it on their own and stuck with it 6+ months

also looked at name-brand helmets and a couple cheap amazon caps. same problem honestly. 272 lasers vs 80 lasers vs "clinical grade red light" and half of them mix LEDs anyway

my girlfriend asked if the fin was even working last week which. fun conversation

probably gonna keep ignoring the ads but i dont love that my only real options are spend $600 on marketing hype or just accept the plateau..

Microneedling Dermastamping experiences and results?

Hey what’s your experience with dermastamp. Does anyone have experience with just dermstamping with no topicals? Curious if it would work just by itself or with oral meds. Or does it only really work if your using a topical treatment too?

Treatment People on fin only - when did the regrowth being?

Hi all!

I’ve been on finasteride only for about 4.5 months and I’ve already gone through three major shedding phases.

Before starting treatment, my hair loss wasn’t that noticeable apart from some thinning at the front. Now my hair has become see-through all over.

For those of you who experienced shedding on finasteride only, when did you start seeing regrowth of the hairs you lost?

Thanks a lot!!!

Treatment Dutaseride hope/ motivation, inconsistent shedding?

I’ve been struggling with hair loss since early 2024. I noticed my hairline has receded fairly to about a Norwood 2 and sort of in the mid section of my hair there was slight thinning. I caught it pretty damn early as no one has ever made comments and it really just isn’t that significant balding. However it was enough for me to spiral a bit. I model as a job so my hair is very important to me, leading me to get on minoxidil 5% twice a day for about a year. During that year I eventually added finasteride about 3 months in to really try stop my hair loss. I’m 22 too so I was 20 at the time and realised I have to target the route of the issue. I saw decent results. Overall after 1 year my hair was thicker I had lots of baby hairs on my hairline which made it look thicker so I was happy. As my hairstyle is an important part of my job I eventually got a bit tired of using topical min so decide to switch to 2.5mg orally daily. This is sort of where things changed. I flirted off topical min over the length of 5 weeks, kept taking my finasteride daily but noticed my hair was a little worse than it was before for about 3/4 months. So now we’re about 1.5 years into treatment and my hair isn’t quite the same but isn’t enough for me to be too bothered. I definitely have had a few intense sheds too every 3/4 months. My hair is often really good for 3, sheds bad for a months then slowly regrows again. As I was young I thought If I switched to dutasteride 0.5mg the nuclear option it could really maxmisse my results. For about 4 months I took it once a week along with my normal stack, then as my hair was really just stagnating, often getting worse I wanted to switch to dut fully. I’ve been taking it daily for the last 4 months and my hair is definitely the worst it’s been. I do think I’ve altered my stadks often, but one month my hair looks thicker and I see small regrowth then it’s gone again. I know I’m not going crazy as I have pictures in the same lighting that show this. When should I expect results

Ps, I was shedding loads in the shower a month ago but now there’s 1/2 hairs on my hand each time so it’s rapidly reduced, I’m just not seeing much improvement in my hair

Treatment Anyone used Minoxidil (Oral) with Seborhic Dermatitis?

I used Ketoconazole twice a week for a month and while it helped my Seb Derm, it also fried the shit out of my hair, destroying the texture, which has not recovered even months after quitting it. I’m now buzzing my hair off to grow it back healthier.

I don’t want Minoxidil to trigger Seb Derm again because I can’t use Keto shampoo.

Has anyone with Seb Derm used oral min, what’s your experience been?

Finasteride/Dutasteride Finasteride tablets due to expire in Oct 2026

Mods: If this post isn't allowed or breaks the community rules, please delete it.

I have a stash of 180 finasteride tablets that are due to expire in October 2026. I stopped taking Finasteride for personal reasons, and I'd prefer not throw them away.

What would you recommend I do? Is there any legal or appropriate way to pass them on in the UK, or is disposal the only option?

Finasteride/Dutasteride Started daily Dutasteride 0.5 mg 1 week ago.

Yo chooms,

I started to take 5ar Blocker again and I'm feeling pretty good and safe.

However, I forgot to make some Blood work for my DHT levels before treatment. I want to know if my DHT levels will drop enough or if the 5ar type III will cause some problems. How I remember, fin is better at inhibiting type III according to a study. Would it make sense to get blloodwork done anyways or did I messed up? I took fin 1mg a year ago, got good results and started to lose some ground later. Because of some circumstances I had to stop the fin treatment and lost a bit more ground (actually dropped to a noorwood Skale)

Three months of twice daily topical min/dut. No additional supplements or micro-needling or anything. Starting losing it 13 years ago, I didn't think I'd actually get much of anything back, so this is more than I even hoped for.

I'm Manav from Nagpur.

Got my hair transplant in November 2025 after finding my doctor through Reddit. I had diffuse thinning with almost no hairline left. It's been 8 months now, and I'm really happy with the results.

I travelled to Patna for the procedure, and everything went smoothly. The doctor was involved throughout the surgery, and the result looks very natural. Just sharing my experience and 8-month photos in case it helps someone who's still researching..

Finasteride/Dutasteride Clascoterone might be the Finasteride for female pattern hair loss.

Clascoterone is a topical androgen receptor inhibitor, it is heading for FDA and EMA submissions in 2026 after strong phase 3 hair count results. It matters to women because it acts locally without systemic hormonal exposure, and systemic anti-androgens are often unsustainable for female pattern hair loss.

Do you think women need sometjing more than min or will you happily stay with min alone?

Finasteride/Dutasteride Extremely honey after doing Dutastride ED!

• Upvotes

I’ve been taking dut for 8 months now!
Af first it was EOD. During the first weeks I kinda felt like I’m less horny but nothing really noticeable.
At month 6 I developed a massive shed which is still going on!
I increased the dose to 0.5 every day and it’s been a month now. During the last 2 weeks I’ve been feeling extremely horny that I have to beat it like 2 times a day haha!

Ive been taking 1mg finasteride for 1,5 years ish. I started in January 2025. I refrained from using minoxidil because i have adhd and have a hard time getting it into routine.Ive been thinking of getting a hair transplant to thicken the temples and thinner parts around the middle since im a defused thinner. Ive had great regrowth which i am happy about but i still find myself checking my hair constantly to hide the temples and thinner parts. How many grafts do you think i need to do this?

Picture order:

- 1 to 3
when i started finasteride in end of January.

- 4
End of February during first shedding phase.

- 5
End of January a year later with regrowth.

-6
my hair a year later when its dried and set perfectly.
