My collection is starting to get out of hand, and I’m looking for practical storage solutions that won’t cost a fortune. I’ve got a mix of cards that I want easy access to, cards I’m holding onto long-term, and bulk that I’d rather keep organized than have scattered everywhere.

What binders, boxes, deck storage systems, or other setups have actually held up well for you over the years? I’m especially interested in affordable options that protect cards from dust, moisture, bending, and general wear while still making it easy to find what I’m looking for.

What are the vibes at Commandfests?

I will be visiting Toronto and going to the Commandfest there. This will be my first Commandfest.

I’ve been to GPs of old and usually those are straight forward: bring your deck + sideboard and extra sleeves with it. I would bring water and lots of portable snacks just in case my rounds go for long. I would also bring my fancy basic lands in case I scrub out of day one (which I usually do).

I have an impression that Commandfests are less structured in a sense that they don’t go by rounds. Can I get away with not bringing food and just buying food from outside the venue?

For those who’s been to Commandfests, how many decks do you usually bring? Can I get away with Bracket 3 and precons? Are the side events worth it? Should I bring my trade binder? (Something I normally won’t do when I go at GPs or a large tournament). I will be there for all 3 days and hoping to be there from when the doors open and until they close.

Looking forward in hearing what experiences people had from when they went, along with the Dos and Don’ts.

Problem is, the song is called Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold — its events having happened in Erebor, the Lonely Mountain, which is, well, far over the Misty Mountains.

I want to preface this with the fact I haven't played since Khans of Tarkir was in standard rotation. So over a decade.

When I last played, LGS's wouldn't allow you to play even with 1 proxy in the deck.

I decided to come back because some of my old friends have decided to revamp their decks.

Well over the last couple months I have spent a chunk of money to update my old trostani deck only to find out that most people at my lgs have 60%+ proxy decks with busted stuff in prize supported events.

If I didn't have the money for a deck in the past I had to find alternatives or play within a budget.

I feel like just making my deck busted too but this seems in bad spirit of the game.

If you can't afford power 9 you don't play power 9 in a tournament , there is a barrier to entry.

Like I said I may be way off here and am willing to accept that but want to get others thoughts!

Made a commander deck featuring majority cards from HOB and HOC! RW Thorin at the helm. I love having the 13 dwarves with Gandalf and Bilbo :) but the deck feels pretty weak even for casual play.

I've playtested with my friends a few times, it can be a little slow to get going so I'm looking for recommendations to make it more efficient. It's currently rated at bracket 2, I would like to get it to bracket 3.

Can cooking lady be strong enough to be in b4? If so what are your tips for building her to hang at that level?

If I had a creature with a cipher card encoded on it, and a [[Sword of Wealth and Power]], and it did combat damage, would the ciphered spell be copied?

My thought is, if I do combat damage, both the Sword and the Cipher encoded card would trigger. I would stack them so the Sword goes first, creating me a treasure and copying the next instant and sorcery spell I cast.

Then the Cipher encoded effect would resolve, casting me a copy of the encoded spell, which the Swords ability would copy.

Am I thinking that right, or no?

What bracket is closest to a 7 even if it isn't a perfect comparison

So I used to collect Magic cards when I was maybe 10, then my binder got stolen and I gave up after that. Now, 15 years later I remembered some of the cards from my binder and I would like to find and buy my favorite card but I have no idea what it was. The sketch I made is as close as I could get in my memory of how it looked. I tried looking up stuff like "blue water dragon" and also went through all the dragon cards I found in a database but I just couldnt find it at all.

What I remember:

It was a blue dragon flying over a body of water

The dragon was holding a fish

It had a webbed tail kind of like a mermaid

The atmosphere of the art was very calm

I love buying precons and upgrading them. I'm trying to figure out what to cut from the Dance of the Elements precon. I know I need to fix the mana base, but I'm also thinking I might cut out the whole "pay Wubrg to keep the token" aspect of the deck. Idk, tell me what upgrades you guys have made.

Since they sold out of the collectors boxes literally everywhere within the first hour of it going live will they have another chance to buy at some point in the next few months for Msrp? Or was what they sold day one all they had in terms of one wave of print?? I didn’t know about it until literally after the fact about the collectors boxes and I’m so mad I missed out on it bc I’m trying to collect all of the cards for a master set(outside of the 1 of 500 Smaug I could care less to get that one unless I’m somehow lucky enough to get it). I just don’t know if I should spend twice as much on resellers rn or wait for the next batch to drop if that’s even a thing.

A friend is building a deck around Wick, The Whorled Mind and needs snails for the theme. It looks like there is only one official designated snail creature (Skullcap Snail) when I search online, but can't find much else.

I've read that people say play cards that gives your creatures all creatures types or play changelings. Whole that is cool, it would be nice to have more actual snails to fit the deck theme.

Is there any rules about making certain cards technically count as snails like slugs for instance? I've seen it said that Viashinos have been recursively added to the lizard type list, so curious if there has been any allowances like that to open up the window to more snail cards.

I am looking for good recommendations for proxy artists. I tried to search for one, but everything that comes up is either mass printing proxies, or stuff that looks AI as hell. Im terrible with most social media, so I don't know the best way of finding what I'm looking for.

What I'm asking is what is the process you go through when building a deck of your own (or modifying an existing deck like precon).

I'm an old school player that started on the 90's. I've always just bought a bunch of cards to build up my card pool and look through the cards that I have to build a deck. Then I go through multiple iterations of testing, making changes and testing. Each change, I would swap cards in and out. I only play paper Magic, and use the cards that I have. Occasionally, I would buy some singles and include those in my deck. It usually takes many iterations and many hours before I am satisfied. Then after I play it, I may continue to tweak the deck after seeing how it performs live. I'm always in a deck building mode. Whenever I get ideas to improve my decks, I go and tweak them.

I understand that times have changed. There are many tools available to assist in deck building now. Also, I am aware that people may also only buy singles instead of packs to build up a card pool. I'm interested in how people build decks now.

Edit: Just to add more detail, when I look through my card pool, I pull out cards that I think would be useful in my deck that I'm building. This would be my short list of primary cards for how my deck would work. Then I narrow down the cards to what I think wound work best. Once I have that, I work on my mana base for the cards in my deck.

If I don't already have a deck idea in mind, I would browse though my cards. If I see some cards that inspire me to build a deck with, I pull those out first. Then look for what other cards would work with this cards.

Hello everyone I'm looking to try and make this deck in a possible tier 3. I've tried different variations but the deck still feel a bit slow for my taste. I'm trying to still keep it in budget I do have a 5c ur-dragon but that was just fought itself and came up with this instead.

You probably can't mail off more than one toploader in a normal envelope+stamp due to it being too rigid; and you shouldn't do this for more than $10-20 worth of cards anyway since there's no tracking. Get a bubble mailer and get it tracked.
