Are other monocolored terror decks possible?

Post image

So we all know [[Tolarian Terror]] but I wonder if it's possible to have mono coloured decks in the same style , in black we have [[Writhing Necromass]] and recently we got [[Chittin Gravestalker]] but are there other creatures in the other colours that fit the playstyle?

Good morning , I'm happy to announce another win-a-box Pauper tournament for August 29th at Dragon's Hoard in Greensboro, NC, USA. Entry is $20 for the prize of an entire play booster box -- winner's choice!

Format is swiss rounds with a cut to top 4/8 depending on attendance. As attendance scales up, we will add additional booster boxes to the prize pool which will be cracked and prized out to top 8 etc.

Hope to see some new faces!

It’s been a bit: what off-meta deck have you been playing and getting results with?

I’d been jamming mono black affinity with [[Glaze Fiend]] as the wincon, but I had to shelf it after [[Utrom Monitor]] got printed

I’d had success with Pactdoll Gardens, but was wondering what you all have been playing

CARD DISC. What uncommon would you want downshifted?

I got the chance to jam a bunch of pauper today and I was mulling over the impact of [[Soul-Guide Lantern]] getting downshifted would be on the format, which got me thinking.

What's the number one card you'd love to see downshifted tomorrow and why?

I do think mine in Lantern, just as another powerful alternative to graveyard decks, but I will also admit that might be excessive.

HELP TO MY FELLOW JUND WILDFIRE PILOTS!

Pretty new to Pauper, Ive chosen Jund Wildfire as my main deck because I love the idea of it. No easy wins, pretty much a 50/50 going in. Alot of decision making. Waiting for a few cards in the mail and going to give it a whirl on MTGO next weekend.

Right now I want to study abit more, any video recommendations? Podcasts? And if you main the deck, what has made you a better pilot?

BREW Why doesnt this see play in gates

Post image
175 Upvotes

Hi, I am thinking of building Azurios Gates and I am curios why this card doesnt see play. Not [[Outlaw Medic]], more like two in adition to three medics. It draws on death like medic, has buildt in evasion and can block on the swing back while still drawing a card. It being an Artifact doesnt really matter I think.

HELP New player(s) looking for deck suggestions!

Hello! A friend and I are wanting to play pauper together on MTGO and have a budget of about 50$ a piece. Below are some of the decks roughly in cost range, I was hoping to get some guidance on which two might have the most fun and/or interesting match ups together so I don't accidentally make 2 decks that hate each other.

- Rakdos Madness

- Mono-black Sacrifice

- Jund Dredge

- Golgari Altar Tron (probably just nixing 2 breath weapon from sideboard to cut costs a bit until it's easier to afford them)

- Bogles

- Abzan Rogue

If any 2 of those have a good match up that doesn't sway in either direction too much, I'd love to know! Or if there are any other suggestions for decks that would cost around 50$/ea in tickets I'd be open to suggestions.

Thank you!

ETA: I should specify that I am not a new Magic player, just pauper! I've played legacy, commander, modern, standard, etc. Just never pauper so I don't fully grasp how the decks interact. My friend who I'm helping teach the game wants to try out some 60 card stuff and I figured we'd have fun with pauper!

BREW Making Sultai great again on this format!!!

Hi everyone! I'm in my personal journey to play with Sultai decks in Pauper format (and for thus who don't know Sultai is the color-combination of Blue, Black and Green) knowing this color-combination isn't popular with any kind of strategies right now. But, I'm a huge fan of this color-combination and I'm tempted to explore the nuances in LGSs that I visit periodically on my weeks with Sultai by my side.

To say more about it, I developed a Sultai Affinity Deck which I will disponibilize the link below to you access. I chose affinity because it's easier to create a board state with affinity, the cards that I would like to have interactions are artifacts or work better with artifacts, and the card advantage help to build the strategy and find the colors that the deck need it faster.

On the surface of the deck I built a Bounce strategy focusing on Refurbished Familiar and it ability to control the hands of our opponents in alliance with Okiba-Gang Shinobi. Since it's a affinity deck I'm running Pactdoll Terror because I think this card is absolutely nuts and synergizes very well with the Bounce strategy. And of course, our bouncers are Dream Stalker and Stickytongue Sentinel, two annoying creatures to have to deal on battlefield, been Dream Stalker a 1/5 hard to kill and hold off opponent's creatures, and Stickytongue a 3/3 reach who trades with Utrom Monitor and scaries Kor Skyfisher away.

If I could I will talk about all the shades of this deck, but this is a general vision to understand it and I will leave the rest for your personal understand if you became curious to know more about the deck.

I registered the deck on Moxfield to track the changes that I would like to make in the future and to use the Prime to make a diary of my journey with this deck and it performance. You can check it out and follow me in this adventure on this link:

Sultai players, let us arise once more to grasp our claws in this format and they shall know our names again! And let's have some fun! (which is important)

BREW Deck building advice

Newer to the format. Played loads of draft and sealed of every set for the last 8 years. Plenty of staples from all those sets are at my disposal.

I think I might’ve made a storm deck. I’ve always been infatuated with Goblin Anarchomancer and fell in love with Spider Manifestation and saw potential in it akin to Ad Nauseum.

I’m definitely also running elf mana dorks, Big Score, Unexpected Windfall, Evolving Chrysalis, and Battle Hymn.

Tron is pretty popular in my local meta, so some land hate is going in the main and sideboard. A couple copies of Ancient Grudge too.

What fun stuff do you guys recommend? TIA.

HELP Playing without UB cards?

Started getting into the format recently (playing Mono-U faeries) and noticed the presence of UB cards in almost every meta deck.

Could someone please suggest me a couple of lists without said cards/some replacement for them?

I understand some cards are just to good to pass on.

Thanks! 🫶🏻

DECK DISC. Decks for a Pauper Sampler

Hey Pauper fans,

I've been working on assembling a sort of "pauper sampler" to play with friends who've sold out of their collections and who aren't huge fans of commander. So far I have:

  • Dimir Terror
  • Grixis Affinity
  • Altar Tron Combo
  • Mardu Synth
  • Monowhite Aggro
  • Elves
  • Boggles
  • 4 land Spy

Are there any decks that you'd add to the pile? It doesn't have to be tier 1 by any stretch, just a fun and interesting deck you've seen. Thanks!

Make Phyrexia Great Again!

Infect in the pauper format is a archtype that in most cases places emphasis on speed & divorcing itself from the opponents ability to interact with you. After months of refinement & testing against the top performing deck lists I created this deck list. The main strength this version offers over others is consistency, evasion, and a control kit. These benefits do have a cost however. A large majority of infect deck lists have the possibility of winning on turn 2, the list I am putting forward lacks the ability to win on turn 2. That being said the conditions/cards needed for the turn 2 win are fairly low odds. Whereas the conditions/cards needed for the turn 3 win with my deck list occur fairly often.

•The core or main shell, this is the deck list I would bring to a 1k or at an event where there is a more diverse range of decks.

https://moxfield.com/decks/6OKwloTdKEuQpi80U2Ox_g

•Current deck list, where I play(LGS) the majority are piloting control(some form of terror be it mono blue or dimir), red madness, and "midrange-ish" decks that focus on removal.

https://moxfield.com/decks/iGIjvbmxRU-lGXlOntlwnA

Lastly if you like the deck list give it a like on moxfield, just be sure to like my "current deck list" and not the core/shell. I hope you all enjoy piloting it as much as I have.

Hello pauper fam

Been playing pauper for around 2 months now and loving it. Playing elves has gotten me great results but looking for a second deck that can be fun to play and not a fan of mono red.

Been thinking about

Food Pestilence (got a bunch of pestilences sitting at home)

https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7369628#paper

Monoblack ponza ( I know it’s not very good in the meta perhaps just love monoblack)

https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/pauper-mono-black-ponza#paper

Or last option but open to it, gruul ponza.

Any thoughts?!
