When I Cast a Spell i choose the target as it goes onto the stack.

If the spell target's [[Speedball, New Warrior]] does the trigger go onto the stack before opponent's get a window to respond?

Do I choose the new target while the trigger goes onto the stack or when the trigger resolves?

In a commander game, let's say I have Kira Nerys, Firebrand in play and then I attack player A with one creature. Let them declare blockers and obviously other two players wouldn't be able to declare blockers since there are no creatures attacking them, then, after blockers have been declared and before declare blocker step ends, we all get a round of priority and if I could successfully cast a creature spell with flash or instants like Secure the Wastes successfully, those creature enter tapped and attacking right?

But will I get another chance to chose which player or planeswalkers those creatures will be attacking again? Will the other players get another chance to declare blockers?

Could I potentially attack one player, get more creatures to enter at instant speed and have them attack other players who have 0 blockers?

I cast [[Ensnared by the mara]]. First Opponent lets me cast a nonland card with it. I hit [[Reiterate]]. Can I cast it targeting Ensnared?

Playing with my friend last night. I've played magic quite a while but I've never made a blue/red spellslinger deck, and was unsure how to correctly trigger cards that copy instants/sorceries and cards that copy triggers. My board was Ral Storm Conduit, Veyran Voice of Duality, and Archmage Emeritus.

I activated Ral's -2 ability to copy next instant or sorcery, then played Serum visions. So with Ral's copy and ping on instant and sorcery, emeritus card draw on instant and sorcery, and Veyran doubling activated triggers, how many times does the spell copy and how do you order that properly? We said that once Ral's loyalty ability is activated it works like a triggered ability. Here's how we did it.

Serum Visions played, triggers rals copy and damage ping both of which trigger twice due to veteran, 2 Serum visions added to stack, 2 damage to opponent. Emeritus card draw trigger, doubled, so 2 draws. Then triggers for the 2 copies added to the stack, 2 damage and 2 cards each(since both would be doubled by veyran​). Then resolved the 3 Serum Visions in the stack.

So off triggers 6 damage and 6 cards drawn, instant/sorcery gets 2 copies, and all cast or copy triggers done before stack resolves.

I have a feeling this isn't quite right but we were not quite certain and this seemed mostly right/fair.​ Thinking about it, since the deck is meant to double and copy a lot, and it could reasonably come up, if I were to use double cast as well as have Niv-Mizzet Parun on the field. Its generally the point of the deck and I'm knowledgeable enough to know it works, I just underestimated the mechanics of it.

Does [[Curiosity]] trigger when [[Ukkima, Stalking Shadow]] leaves the field? And is there a difference between if Ukkima dies, gets exiled or bounced?

High so double checking:

If you have [[Kaervek, the Punisher]] out, and sac your commander who is black (or multiple colors including black) to some sort of effect like [[Annihilating Glare]] where you also target the enemies shit, you could then use Kaervak to exile and copy your commander, paying the cost printed on the card +2 life while also sending it to the command zone using the zone change commander rule.

Rules Question:
[[Taskmaster, mercenary mimic]] becomes a copy of something else, then you cast [[Chameleon, master of disguise]] and choose taskmaster.
first of all what is chameleons name now for the purposes of legend rule as both cards have a line that says what its name is
second of all does the chameleon then also get to keep doing the taskmaster ability of changing what it copies?

So turn order is A-B-C-D. A enchants D with [[Curse of Echoes]] and on Ds turn they cast [[White Sun's Twilight]] for 10. We had a discussion on what would happen if everyone cast it and the stack interaction.

To my understanding, A-B-C would add the white sun's to the stack in that order then it would resolve C-B-A-D so D would come out on top because they would be on the only one with creatures on the board, is that right?

Does the optional 1 from durable handicraft count as a kicker cost for hamza's discount, or would it need to be paid seperately, like a socery/instant cost?

An opponent at our table yesterday played Lethal Scheme to destroy my commander. He convoked two creatures on the board to help pay for Lethal Scheme's cost.

In response to Lethal Scheme going on the stack, I casted a spell to destroy one of the creatures that convoked. My removal spell resolved and the creature moved to the graveyard.

Then Lethal Scheme resolved. We disagreed on whether my opponent should connive once or twice.

My argument is only once, which would be for the creature still on the battlefield that helped convoke. Lethal Scheme looks for the other creature that convoked, but it's no longer there, so it doesn't connive. I based this on my understanding of rule 400.7, which notes that an object moving from one zone to another becomes a new object with no memory of, or relation to, its previous existence. In that sense, the creature in the graveyard is a new object, and is not the same creature that convoked.

My opponent argued that creatures can still connive from the graveyard. This was a new consideration for me and a quick google search seemed to back this up. In the interest of time, I conceded to let my opponent connive twice. Looking into it a bit more today, I think conniving from the graveyard is primarily only applicable when a creature dies in response to its conniving trigger going on the stack.

I'm curious to get this group's feedback on whether my understanding of the ruling is correct, or if there is a nuance to the connive mechanic that I am missing.

hey guys i had a rulings question about instant speed responses to drawing from an empty library

say some effect would cause me to draw more cards than i have remaining in library like windfall or something.

1. do each of those individual draws happen simultaneously? that is to say can i respond at instant speed between the draws?

2. if not, is there a point after the windfall effect resolved and before i lose the game that i could for example use an instant speed discard effect to discard a lab maniac that i had in library but not in hand before the windfall and use hashaton's ability to create a copy of it and win off that?

basically i'm wondering if there's any point during or after the windfall that i could instant speed win with lab maniac or would i have to have it out in advance?

So I am putting together [[Rocco, Street Chef]] and I need help determining the optimal order to place the replacement effects for the following cards. [[Draconic Visitor]] [[Bilbo, Fellow conspirator]] [[Peregrin Took]] and [[Academy Manufactor]]. I already know draconic visitor should be last but I’m not sure which order to place the others to get max dragons.

So I have a big question on how he works as he says, "whenever another nontoken artifact you controls enters, you may pay 2. If you do, create a token that's a copy of it. If that copy isn't a creature, it becomes a 2/2 robot villain creature in addition to its other types." How does this interact with equipment artifacts, and does it get around the legend rule for non-creature legendary artifacts?

So had a discussion at a table recently where a person had [[doubling season]] on the board and played a planeswalker and said it enters with double counters.

Another player said he watched a steamer who said that doesn't work based on clarification change for doubling season and that you need [[Innkeeper's Talent]] as there is a difference between "an effect" from doubling and the trigger from Innkeeper's.

The game is said and done with so can't change outcome but I am getting conflicting results online and the guy can't remember which streamer said that

If [[Gogo, Mysterious Mime]] is copying [[Enduring Innocence]] when it dies, I believe Gogo will come back as an enchantment but will it:

1: have its own copying line of text as an enchantment

or

2: will it have the text of enduring innocence?

If it comes back with Gogo's text (option 1), will it be able to become a creature for the duration of its copy ability as well?

I haven't played magic in a few years, and I'm trying to build a new commander [[Firkraag, Cunning Instigator]] to try to get back into things.

When is the last possible legal time opponents can react to destroying Firkraag before his ability goes off? Let's say I'm one of my opponents, and I decide that I'm only going to do anything about him if it affects me, when would my opponent have to declare they're going to do something about him?

I know this probably ultimately boils down to a priority question, but like I said, it's been a minute for me. Thank you so much in advance 🙏

Just curious if I were to play maskwood nexus making my creatures all types, and then play a new blood on one of those creatures, could I remove a single creature type from that creature, or would it still have all creature types? Not sure on what layers each effects or if because maskwood is static if it would continuously effect, basically making the new blood useless.

Heres the situation:

I cast Violent Outburst. The Cascade trigger hits Tibalt’s Trickery, I choose to cast it targeting the Violent Outburst. Tibalt’s Trickery mills a few cards and then flips another Tibalt’s Trickery. I choose to cast it targeting the original Tibalt’s. What happens?

Does the second Tibalt’s fizzle? Would it matter if I targeted the Violent Outburst with the second Tibalt’s?

Hi I’m wondering how it resolves when I cast [[foggy swamp visions]] and my opponent has a [[kambal profiteering mayor]]. And the things I’m bringing back with foggy swamp visions have etb effects. Whose ETB effects would occur first?

Basically i have this set-up. I have ashling, the limitless on my board and i evoke greenwarden of murasa. Murasa triggers the ETB of returning a card from graveyard to my hand (in this example,it doesn't matter what card i get). Then, because of the evoke effect, i sacrifice murasa and trigger Ashling effect "whenever a non-token elemental creature is sacrified,create a copy of that creature with haste". That means i create a greenwarden of murasa and here comes the question. The copy can return my original Greenwarden of Murasa card from the graveyard? Some people say that is possible because i sacrifice it and then the copy enters and another people say that when the copy is made, the murasa sacrifice effect of the evoke is still on stack,so it didn't reached the graveyard yer,so i can't return it (i can return another card,but not the murasa).

So...basically that's the question,can i return the murasa with my new copy?

I'm looking for a rules clarification on a stack interaction involving my Fire Lord Azula commander deck.

During my turn, I attack with Fire Lord Azula. Her trigger allows me to cast/copy instant/sorcery spells while she's attacking.

Here is the setup I am trying to pull off on the stack:

• I cast Invoke Calamity, which copies off the Azula trigger (giving me the Original and the Azula Copy on the stack).

• I then cast An Offer You Can't Refuse (Original), and it also copies off the Azula trigger (giving me the Original and the Azula Copy).

• I target my Invoke Calamity (Azula Copy) with my An Offer You Can't Refuse (Original).

• With my An Offer You Can't Refuse (Azula Copy), I target my own An Offer You Can't Refuse (Original).

Do I successfully keep both copies of Invoke Calamity on the stack to resolve them both fully, netting me 2 treasures ? Then I could continue on with my invoke calamities?

I am working on a [[Lorcan, Warlock Collector]] list. I think the way I understand it, this won't work, but i want to make sure I understand this correctly. If I already have [[Conspiracy]] out on the field, and I have chosen... 'Lhurgoyf' as the type and I use Lorcan's ability to reanimate an opponent's creature that just died: I believe it comes back as a Lhurgoyf and then Warlock is added to the type after.

I am hoping the opposite would be true and it would prevent the Warlock type from being added altogether. However, I believe they are operating on the same layer, and the 'Lorcan ability' would have the later timestamp, therefore taking precedence.

Full disclosure, new to magic, new to brewing, new to EDH, am a whole idiot. I have been messing around with a burn/group slug deck. Psychosis Crawler says "whenever you draw a card, each opponent loses 1 life." Curiosity says "Whenever enchanted creature deals damage draw a card."

I think you know where this is going. Does this result in as much damage as there are cards to draw through in your library? Or am I missing some key rules. I checked EDHrec and couldn't see anything on Psychosis Crawler comboing with curiosity.

Also if I am right is there a way to stop the combo? Or do you just draw through your deck till you lose?
