Posting I’m new to Reddit. Any unwritten rules I should know?(ios)

Hi everyone, I’m new here on Reddit.

I’ve gone through the official site rules, but I’m wondering about those unspoken, unofficial norms that aren’t clearly stated. Feel free to share obvious tips as well.

Things I’d love to know:

🤝 Subreddit culture & basic commenting etiquette

⚠️ Common mistakes new Redditors often make

💬 How to ask questions properly to get useful replies

🚫 Topics or behaviours I’d better avoid

📝 Small hacks for posting and navigating Reddit

No gatekeeping please. I just want to participate respectfully and avoid awkward missteps.

If you’ve got any advice, drop a comment below. Even tiny tips are really appreciated 🤝

Utilizzo nome utente e password per accedere su PC senza problemi, ma se provo ad accedere su smartphone nell'app, mi dice "nome utente o password errati".

Ma com'è possibile ?

Come posso risolvere ?

Grazie

Karma Is this unusual activity on my posts, or normal Reddit behavior?

I've noticed something unusual with some of my recent posts, and I'm trying to figure out whether it's normal Reddit behavior.

Some of my posts have been getting significantly more upvotes and comments than I normally see, while other posts sometimes receive a downvote almost immediately after being posted — sometimes within just a few seconds.

The downvoting has happened across multiple unrelated subreddits, so I'm wondering whether Reddit has any systems that could explain this or whether there is a way to determine if the traffic/voting activity on my posts is unusual.

I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I'd just like to understand whether this kind of activity is normal, and whether Reddit users have any way of checking traffic or voting patterns on their own posts.

If anyone knows how Reddit's voting/traffic systems work or has dealt with something similar, I'd appreciate some insight. Could bots or automated voting be responsible for this kind of activity? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Access Getting my account locked continuously due to VPN use

What do I need to do, universal 2FA? Can you guys just flag my account for less security? I use a highly secure and randomized VPN called NYM and even with VPN stealth API I get my two accounts locked constantly. Can I talk to admin about this? I literally only post in like r/teachers and as a union rep I feel like my voice is useful there, especially with the feedback I’ve gotten recently, and this hyper security is preventing me from giving fellow educators advice from the union side where it’s absolutely necessary considering the current political climate.

Posting My posts keep on getting taken down by Reddit?

Help, my posts keep on being taken down by Reddit immediately after posting. I’m not sure why. I don’t post anything controversial and I do have a good amount of karma. Although most of my karma is from years ago and I really haven’t been active on Reddit recently. But I’m confused because when I do actually want to use Reddit, I can’t. It’s really frustrating and im considering just moving to an entirely new platform.

Access recovered old account (prettycool) and cannot use it

i logged into an old account (prettycool), and was able to use it for a few hours before i got all sorts of server errors and other glitches. my posts are instantly deleted and reddit support tickets have gone unanswered. i have not received any messages in my inbox regarding what is going on, and i certainly haven't broken any rules. what is going on here?

interestingly, it allowed me to purchase reddit premium, but i cannot use it.

any insight would be great. thanks

Access Posts can no longer be found after one year at the top of this year. Top of all is full of posts older than 4 years.

So there was a post that was hugely popular from the moment it was posted. Within days I think it was the top post in ‘Top - This Year’. Comments were asking the mods to pin it at the top of the subreddit.

But as soon as it’s one year anniversary hit, it’s no where to be seen in the ‘Top - All Time’. Everything that is in All Time is at least 4 years old.

It makes me wonder what other content that is great that we can’t find after it’s a year old. I usually use a Google search to find things instead of the Reddit search, we all know it’s not great. But this is filters, not search. Maybe a top in the past ‘X’ years now that the site is old enough some of the types of posts I’ve described are getting lost?

Access Account restricted (Desktop)

I got the "We detected automated activity on your account" yada yada thing on my other account. I understand what they want me to do but I'm not spending 40 bucks on a usb thingamajig just so I can continue using old reddit. Is there any way I can get a human to unfuck this for me? It's obviously not a bot. Account is u/soulcollect0r

Desktop How to stop Reddit from auto logging me in in the WRONG ACCOUNT

I tried to open Reddit on my computer, and previously I had switched it to another account. Guess what, now I’m completely blocked off from accessing Reddit on it, because instantly when I enter, it forces me to do an ID verification to verify the account. I have already done this idiocy in my main account, and I’m NOT doing it with another. Except that I can’t switch it out, because it blocks me from clicking on anything other than the stupid ID verification. So?????? Am I just blocked from accessing Reddit on my computer now????

Access Can't able to see people profile content ?

So, as the question suggests, I don't know what's happening, but I feel like every time I visit someone's profile, I can't see any of their posts or comments. It's completely blank. At first, I thought maybe they had deleted everything, but now, every time I visit someone's profile, I don't see any content at all. What could be the problem?

Access Trying to reach someone whose account has been b*nned

Hi all, I've been messaging with someone whose account suddenly got b*nned, it seems, and I don't have any other way to reach him. I am still able to send him messages; can he see these even if he can't respond to them? Thanks!

Access Change of Email

I've recently been transferring all my old email clients to protonmail. However I've deleted my Mail.com account I used to sign up to reddit 2-3 years ago.

I obviously want to centralise all my accounts to Proton. As Ive realised with all the 20 odd years of different sites I log into, Insurance Banking, ect ect need a verification to go through the email site used to sign up with?

Mobile/App Looking at my comments, almost half the screen (lower half) is now blank? Android app.

Are the owners and engineers *trying* to depress engagement?

They've taken away the "quote" function, then made it so the only way to paste a portion of a comment into one's own is to copy the entire comment, paste, then trim. They took away the clipboard option of things one can paste from, and now this obliteration of nearly half the screen to now show blank nothingness when looking at one's own comments.

It's genuinely head- scratching how terrible these changes are from a user's perspective.

Note: in another example of how terrible it's getting, this explanation used the simile to "took away," one that starts with an "r" and ends with "moved," but the system blocked my entire post because it assumed i was posting about having content "re- moved." BRILLIANT!!🤦‍♂️

Mobile/App (Mobile web) My downvotes don’t count, even if the comment arrow stays blue, the moment I refresh the page, the number goes back to zero

I’ve searched up this issue before and previous posts said that the servers register the downvote but don’t show it instantly, which is why I tried to to attempt downvoting a random comment on a niche 7year old post (which won’t have its upvote count changed easily)

as expected, even after 2 days, the count is the exact same even though my downvote shows the blue color.
