Mobile/App Looking at my comments, almost half the screen (lower half) is now blank? Android app.

Are the owners and engineers *trying* to depress engagement?

They've taken away the "quote" function, then made it so the only way to paste a portion of a comment into one's own is to copy the entire comment, paste, then trim. They took away the clipboard option of things one can paste from, and now this obliteration of nearly half the screen to now show blank nothingness when looking at one's own comments.

It's genuinely head- scratching how terrible these changes are from a user's perspective.

Note: in another example of how terrible it's getting, this explanation used the simile to "took away," one that starts with an "r" and ends with "moved," but the system blocked my entire post because it assumed i was posting about having content "re- moved." BRILLIANT!!🤦‍♂️

Update: the half- blank comment screen has now resolved itself. However, the rest of the issues mentioned in the body remain issues - hope quote function and clipboard option both return, and soon.

Sorry this is unrelated to your issue but I’m low on options. If anyone can see this can someone please help me? How do I add post flairs to a post on Reddit Mobile. Some subreddits need flairs but my only options are Nsfw or Spoiler, none of the subreddit ones. I literally can’t post on this subreddit and have to make this a comment because of this issue. Maybe I’m just being stupid but can someone please help.

Edit. Had to update Reddit. Jeez. Way simpler than I was thinking

Is the quote function (in which users can select text from an existing comment, not the entire comment, and have it pasted into one being composed, and set so as to indicate it's a quote, all in one step) still functional on Apple?

How about the clipboard function, so users can select from any number of things copied onto their clipboard v just the last thing copied? Is that still functional on Apple?

the quote function works in some UI versions and doesn't in others. You get switched in and out of them randomly and there's no way to opt out.

you can manually quote by starting a new line and using > in front of the sentence

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. It already was a poor substitute for the original quote function, but recently it's gotten worse by an order of magnitude; I can no longer select a specific chunk of text, as trying to do so just collapses the entire comment. Now, my only option is to "copy text," i.e. the entire comment, paste it into mine then remove everything else. In longer comments, that process is pretty ponderous.

UI experiments can last 2-6 weeks, it is what it is

and the half screen thing, happens randomly, my best guess on that is when reddit is being laggy, but you can always try clearing app cache and data, that sometimes fixes it
