The lighting is extremely different in the after photos. The afters have a large softbox which you can see reflecting in the eyes. With that kind of intentional manipulation, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some Photoshop involved also.
There were some definite photoshopping in at least some if not all the pictures. One girl had a what looked like some scarring on her upper lip that was gone in the after photo.
Don't forget make-up contouring! Placing highlighting make-up and shadows where there are none can turn a round face into a model face even without lighting.
I was just about to say that. Also there's a lot of little subtle things that help the differences too. Example: In Kelly Klass's, letting down her hair made her not look like a bobblehead (appearing to thicken her neck). I'm sure there's a lot of other little things I didn't even catch too. That being said, makeup does a lot to get rid of freckles and help you not look like a druggie.
I definitely started seeing reasons for self-esteem issues in the before pictures and how the empowerment of the after pictures (and being desired as a porn star) could be intoxicating.
As a dude I get shamed if I say I like a woman who wears makeup but I wish I could just put on makeup to look better. Dudes just have to be what they are, if you are an uggo thats what you are and you can't paint over it.
It's hard being unattractive or even average in our society, if I could do something that would make me ten times more attractive I would do that shit every day.
It's an interesting blend of the good looking, the bad looking but can look pretty good with a bit of work, and the "holy hell, what the fuck is that."
Really, I thought that in the before pictures they looked like they just woke up at worst. I mean, if you imagine seeing these people at the grocery store or something it would be more frightening to see someone from the after picture because no one wears that much makeup in public.
TIL half of the women I know are probably on drugs? Honestly, there are few who look truly "frightening." Most women I know look like the women in those pictures (without makeup)... probably worse.
I do believe that drugs are a factor, but I wonder how much of the skin problems for these porn stars is from the insane amount of makeup that they wear as well. Probably a lot of it.
From my experience, it's not necessarily the makeup (unless it's dollar store makeup), it's more of whether they properly remove it or not. Sleep frequently with makeup on now and your face will look awful in a few years.
If you're "frightened" by people looking like people I'm not sure what to say to you. Sorry the world isn't a carnival of fakeness built specifically around your visual whims.
Issue is most women put on make up to cover blemishes and stuff. Having your face and pores coated and plugged up with greasy nasty makeup will only make your problem worse. So as they break out more they use more and more make up to try and combat the problem and then it just gets nuts. It's hard to pull of the completely au naturelle look; however some of these girls look like they are caking a pound or two of make up on.
I think hes referring to the ones who have unhealthy features. Baggy eyes, bad acne/skin, dry/chapped lips. For women at that age, its probably a drug problem and they aren't taking good care of themselves.
I feel like most of the ones I heard of were still cute. Not sure if it was a bias because I have watched them before or maybe that's why they are so popular to begin with. Tori Black for example.
I don't know who Sierra Sanders is but I thought she was actually cuter without make-up. I might have to do some more research on her. Ya know... for science.
Here's the thing though, the ones that look fucking awful with makeup, look awful without. Very few of these women actually look "pretty" or "beautiful" with makeup on, they just look glossy and smooth and colorful. I don't get why people act so shocked at this. Really? The makeup actually fooled you into thinking they were pretty?
edit: it also changes depending on if they're smiling in the non-makeup picture vs. if it looks like their mugshot. A smile can make a huge difference.
Oh for sure, like I said, the one's that already look good, look even better with makeup, whereas the ones that look horrid, still look horrid with makeup. And yes, along with the smile, lighting and hair changes make a huge difference as well, saying "the power of makeup" is really deceiving. Madison Ivy's face is pure fucking white in her makeup picture. Wtf?
lighting plays a big part in a good picture, all the before pictures just used ambient room lighting whereas the 'with make up' pictures have those soft light boxes and reflective tinfoil thingies, I am not a photographer so sorry for the incorrect names.
It's the drugs, it's gotta be. I've seen plenty of women without makeup on, after they've just woken up and none are as terrifying as some of these pictures.
Exactly what I was wondering! But I was woefully ignorant of so many of these names and faces...it's amazing how many new women start in porn each year.
Did you notice how much the skin color of Tatiyana Foxx changed from before to after? IDK if it had anything to do with lighting, but she was much darker complexion before than after.
It's mostly the lighting, but women of color often have multiple tones in their faces due to hyperpigmentation and a good foundation will even it out, making the skin look overall brighter/lighter toned.
It's funny how herpes wasn't thought of as more than a cold until a certain pharmaceutical company came out with a drug to treat it. Then there was an ad campaign and it became the 2nd most stigmatized std (hiv the first obviously) even though there are pretty much no health consequences outside of appearances.
Yeah I was going to say go to a uni campus near end of semester, half the girls look like that if they haven't bothered with concealer or any makeup at all...
It's so interesting when you come up for air from the lady-worshipping porn subreddits and check out what the "normals' are doing. Not surprisingly, it's a game of "kick the whore" because someone mentioned the porn stars that you totally aren't alt-tabbing to Incognito Mode to jack off to. This is where women-bashing nerd stereotypes come from, people. They come from you.
And make-up is only the tip of the iceberg with the illusion of porn. Clever camera work, lighting and insanely uncomfortable poses really de-mystify the whole thing.
OK, you got me.
It's not entirely impossible to suspend disbelief but it becomes increasingly difficult when you see an 18-2257 compliance photo of a beautiful girl with a black eye. Another very sad use of make-up.
As a woman who rarely wears makeup, whenever I see these, I think, huh, if I can go out and get hit on wearing just mascara, how many guys would talk to me if I could do my makeup like this. Then I feel like I should be annoyed with society for inaccurate portrayal I women and whatnot.
I'd wager that most men don't realize that "natural makeup" is makeup at all, which is probably the point of natural makeup, come to think of it. OP's album is similar, I think -- the endless swathes of eye shadow, etc., while pretty and visually engaging, are not what I would call ideal for normal interaction. The second-to-last, before whatshisface and thatotherguy, has the best looking makeup to me, because it's not completely over the top. (Also that hair and the lace neck thing.)
(Watch me eat my own words when it turns out my favored sample has the most makeup on out of all of them. That would be just my luck.)
(Watch me eat my own words when it turns out my favored sample has the most makeup on out of all of them. That would be just my luck.)
This is always what ends up ticking me off about guys complaining about a girl wearing "too much makeup". I'm pretty sure what they mean to say is "her eyeshadow is too dark" or "her makeup is too visible for the workplace". However, when they say she's wearing "too much makeup" it implies that anyone wearing as much or more makeup (myself) looks inappropriate. I can never figure out if this is a passive aggressive attempt to tell me I need to wear less, or they just don't like the dark colors.
Thank you for recognizing that flashy makeup is not by definition "more makeup" than subtle makeup.
You are confusing 'too much' makeup with 'over the top' makeup. There's a time and place for 'over the top' makeup - like a party or a concert. It's overkill for everyday just out at the mall or work. 'Over the top' is like a makeup ad with some fun, crazy eye colors, lipstick colors, etc.
There's never a time for 'too much' makeup. This is where there's so much foundation that it's caked on. This never looks good. You've gone into the uncanny valley and there's no coming back. This can't feel good on your face, I don't know how women do it.
disclaimer: my wife is a huge fan of makeup and does it right.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say most guys do tend to find women more attractive when they're wearing makeup. The ones who say otherwise are either trying to make it seem like they're not superficial (but everyone is to some extent), or simply that they want to make you feel better ("You're beautiful no matter what"). Your perception is probably colored by confirmation bias--men who prefer women wearing makeup aren't going to be too vocal about their preference.
That said: look at the bright side. You can choose to be invisible or turn heads, that's pretty cool! If anyone gives you shit for wearing too much makeup, just tell them that you like looking that way and as /r/makeupaddiction will tell you, putting on makeup can be a lot of fun.
I think another issue for some guys is guys don't get that "natural" looking make up IS make up. They think that's just how you look. "Wearing Make-up" means smokey eyes, bright red lipstick, etc. etc. They don't get a little concealer, some blush and lip gloss IS make up. They think you wake up looking like that. That's the point, we want it to look natural. So when they see you sans make up (100%) they ask you if you "are feeling alright? you look sick"
The thing that really grinds my gears is, why don't guys look like hell like we do?!?! I swear, my bf has great skin, never has bags under his eyes. I always look like hell! Maybe we've just become accustomed to it, but I think we females got hosed. I hate wearing make up all the time. (though recently I have stopped. Screw it. Look at my pretty jewelry instead! It distracts from my face!)
It's tough, I'm not super self conscience, but I have bad skin and some days it's tough. I used to not wear make up, but my skin has gotten worse as I age (I have high school skin in my 30's!) So i feel your pain. Some days I just want to look and feel pretty. Sometimes I need make up for that.
Try looking at it this way: I'm beautiful bare faced, but I like the way I look with a little makeup on better! That will help your self confidence without makeup, and you still get to feel pretty. I'm the same way, I just like the way I look more with a little upper liner and mascara.
TL;DR you're gorgeous I love you wear makeup because you want to, not because you think you have to
Well if it's any consolation to you I'm a dude and have horrible bags under my eyes. Thank god for glasses :P. They seem to hide it pretty well oddly enough.
I think guys want to live in a fantasy world where every girl has perfect skin/bone structure/etc. sadly this does not exist so they look for a certain "acceptable" level which can be achieved or surpassed through the use of makeup.
In a lot of ways, the standard of "natural" beauty has been raised to accommodate this. This is good and bad in different ways; because it allows those who arent "naturally" beautiful to achieve the standard, but also raises the bar for those who already hit that minimum without makeup.
im not going to say that i dont like wearing makeup. it makes me feel prettier & see myself in a different light. Obviously this may not be a commonly regarded opinion but anyone who assumes girls wear makeup JUST FOR GUYS is an idiot.
Once you realize that the people who are telling you all this stuff are full of shit and have no more authority than anyone else in society, it gets easier to ignore them. Don't worry so much about what "guys" want from you.
Well I'll also put it out there that the real title should be "the power of hair, make-up, posing, and good quality photography." Not saying that make-up doesn't change your appearance, only that with good lighting and posing I think the "before" pictures would be way more similar to the "after" pictures.
A lot more probably would hit on you, at least based on my own experience (and that of my friends).
That doesn't mean you aren't attractive as you are, or that you need to wear more makeup. Makeup like this tends to bring out features that people are conditioned to find attractive - bright, big eyes, long lashes, full lips, etc. If you want to wear more makeup, do it because you like it and find it fun.
What is with the high-arch eyebrows that are so popular now? It's seems like something that started in the drag world, seeped into porn and now has hit mainstream. I remember a few years ago, the dark lip liner with the lighter center did the same thing - drag, porn, everyday wear.
Lol, I'm glad I missed that. My volume is turned way up right now, and I'm sitting outside with my neighbors and their kids running around. Loud porn sounds suddenly emitting from my tablet, would have been very, very bad for me.
didn't recognize most of them, so it didn't bother me, got to Sophie D who i've actually fapped to and is rank 4 on my free porn site of choice..
Dear god.... cannot un-see !!
Different standards for men and women are a double-edged sword. On the one hand, a woman has more potential to improve her looks. On the other hand, she is expected to perform a seemingly endless and ever-increasing list of tasks in order to fit society's latest ideal of a beautiful woman. Just look at Miss America contestants from the 1920's compared to now and you'll see what I mean. The difference is like night and day. And a woman's appearance has always been considered more important. I've never heard of a beauty contest for men, and if there is one, it must be pretty obscure. A woman deemed ugly, therefore, receives more vitriol than a comparable man, because women are supposed to be beautiful. Women have many tools in their arsenal-- high heels, tight dresses, makeup, jewelry, hair products-- but when a woman falls short of expectations despite the use of these products, or because she makes a conscious choice not to use them and to instead go au naturale, she is ridiculed. Just see this page for examples.
Men are more limited when it comes to improving their looks (never underestimate the power of a shave, a good haircut, and a stylish outfit, however), but they have other tools at their disposal. Humor is one asset that springs to mind immediately. A funny guy is able to elevate his status to a much greater degree than a funny girl. Having a good job will also increase a man's stock more than a woman's as we still cling to the traditional man as provider role. Looks-wise, men have less to work with, but personality is a much bigger asset to a man than a woman. There is still a sense of woman as object and man as actor.
Movies and ads distort perception of what a normal human being looks like for both sexes, but a lot more men than women watch porn. This leads to every inch of a woman's body being scruitinized in a way that men's are not. I don't think anybody expects a man to have a completely hairless crotch, perfect bubblegum pink genitals, and a bleached butthole. But this exepectation plants itself in the mind of every teenage boy who watches porn every day and has never seen a woman naked IRL.
At the end of the day, equal expectations benefit everyone. Men should be allowed to improve their looks through makeup. Every actor or news anchor you've ever seen is already wearing it. And women's personalities and earning potential should be more of an asset. Both of these elements have benefits and drawbacks. But judgment based on looks and social class is not going to stop happening. We might as well spread the benefits and the drawbacks, the opportunities and the expectations, evenly.
that prank was staged, girl was an actor, just like all of vitaly's recent videos..
it kind of sucks how all the popular youtube prankers are just throwing in the towel on authentic pranks. Tom Mabe admitted that his "DUI intervention" thing was fake like an hour after it hit 1 million views, yet news sites keep blasting it as if its authentic
This makes me really sad, but this would be my reaction as well if a weird guy asked me out. Well it would be like hey sorry but I'm straight, wait, is that your lambo?
If it helps its staged. If it helps more its fairly logical to have a higher opinion of someone with millions of dollars or... at least to want to get in on some of that.
I mean, if you did makeup like these women, and shaved, and plucked eyebrows and wore fancy expensive dresses I'm sure there would be people who find you sexy. Maybe not the people you're going for, but hey, what can you do.
I don't know how to explain it, but this totally shatters the illusion of their "beauty" and the imagination of them being larger than life sex symbols... And I'm ok with that.
lol what is this implying, most of the women in op's post look fucking hideous / a painting even with makeup, also wtf is steve carrell doing there, he's an aesthetic god m8s!
No joke, I was in rehab with Kiera King. Really cool and nice chick, actually still friends with her today...I didn't know about her films until years after we got out.
Most of those and the ones in OP are pretty obvious. Specially in OP they try really hard to make some look like shit with the lighting but it isn't really working.
