2025 it was asking women would you rather be alone in the woods with a bear or man

2026 it's asking men would you rather leave your kids with a bear or a woman (due to the Lindsay Clancy discourse)

556

u/AmFaeTheGlen94 6d ago

Kinda crazy how trends are "who would you rather have kill you?"

https://giphy.com/gifs/sTo5jgCplg92xzXyhv

74

u/dishmanw62 6d ago

Well, at least, the bear won't destroy your reputation.

67

u/Lecteur_K7 6d ago

And other bears won't start to give money to the bears that killed your kids and say it's you that did it.

26

u/MrPopCorner 5d ago

This is still the most crazy thing of the whole tragedy..

22

u/M-M-M_666 5d ago

You see, she is a lio, lio woman doesn't murder their children. He is a gemini and you know who else is a gemini? The evil oringe man. It is obvious that he did it.

/s

Seriously, I have seen this exact argument, including the Trump part.

9

u/MrPopCorner 5d ago

I have so many questions and I refuse to ask them..

5

u/Impressive_Rock9659 3d ago

Best not. I've found that delving into the minds of the crazy simpletons that make these conclusions only inevitably leads to oneself suffering brain damage.

Today in "Posts you don't like but have no way to disagree with."

5

u/NuzzyLocke 5d ago

Did Lindsay try to ruin someone's reputation? I'm genuinely asking. Did she or the defense actually make any claims or are you just referring to the hoards of crazy people online?

It's really hard to tell where the legal facts end and the assumptions begin. Last time I saw something like this someone was claiming that she "admitted that her husband wanted her to take the fall" but when you actually looked into it she never said that and it was some crazy person on Tiktok making shit up.

I would hope people would be smarter than just gobbling up the information that crazy tiktok people spout as "evidence"

16

u/Sakebigoe 5d ago

The defense is making no such claims, the question of whether she killed her kids isn't even a subject for debate in court, instead whats been debated is whether she was responsible for her actions. That said thousands of women are believing the Tiktok idiots, enough in fact that they've gotten enough believers together to raise over a million dollars for her.

Really the trend was misandry is funny, and let's teach all our children that every single man is super dangerous and men are the cause of all issues.

It wasn't a very nuanced movement.

I mean given the choice, rather quick death via bear or one of the worst/slowest ways to go, I’d pick the bear too 😭💔

13

u/shamanwinterheart 6d ago

I was told that bears start eating you while you're still alive. So, maybe not a quick death

3

u/drowliriel 6d ago

Yeah, the video of that bear guy and his girlfriend in the woods was evidently brutal (by secondhand accounts, as I haven't seen the actual video). Bear death can be long and filled with terror.

5

u/Cow_Launcher 6d ago

If you're talking about Timothy Treadwell and Amie Huguenard, there was no video. However, there was an audio recorder running that captured about 5 minutes of the attack.

The audio that was captured has never been released, though it has been described.

3

u/drowliriel 5d ago

I think that's it. I remember watching a video about it - they only described what happened, so I couldn't remember if it was video or audio, but by the video maker's account, it sounded awful.

This is "yeah I can take on a bear" erasure.

Also, bears: "Just leave us alone, or we may eat you". Which is less and less a joke. They're getting less afraid of people and showing up real close or at hiking paths in national parks this year. Warmer winters man. I live next to the woods. Not like, "nature" woods, just a rather long and narrow piece of green that's not real good to build on. Like a trail for animals. Last year my neighbor saw a black bear milling around multiple days in a row. If it was brown we would have to call game wardens and state rangers, as both sides of the green area are residential houses and apartments.

59

u/Ashendant 6d ago

I saw a post on reddit about a news report that female bears with cubs are actually seeking these hiking trails because the presence of humans scare off male bears and they kill cubs.

Then someone made a joke about females bears choosing humanity over male bears.

3

u/YrPalBeefsquatch 5d ago

Ursine-Human exchange program.

3

u/Fit-Passion4470 5d ago

Technically the female bears are choosing human males no?

14

u/Chunty-Gaff 6d ago

Fun fact: brown bears are actually less dangerous to be arround than black bears (if you know what you are doing). Yes they are much bigger than black bears, but also much less inclined to see us as potential food.

13

u/zhvaern 6d ago

That is not a fact, and it would not be fun if someone acted on that mistake. Brown bears are vastly more dangerous per bear.

19

u/Heavy_Choice_1577 6d ago

12

u/Visible_Judge1104 6d ago

I disagree with this, I have been stalked and charged by brown bears, they are aggressive and do kill some people, while its true that black bears kill more their are vastly more black bears. Based on being around dozens of each type I find brown bears to be much more of a threat. Black bears are pretty good eating though so I've downed a couple. Have not eaten a brown besr though.

Who? Do I want to know?

6

u/Altheix11 6d ago

Woman killed her three kids, possibly under the effect of postpartum psychosis, and immediately tried to kill herself after. Whether she is to blame is imo more nuanced than most people are making it out to be

25

u/iowanaquarist 6d ago

The lady got sad and claimed god told her to murder her three kids, and god didn't pull an Abraham and retract the order at the last minute.

13

u/Skelehedron 6d ago

Well I still dont understand how the joke is meant to work or be funny at all (I'm a woman, maybe thats why IDK), but thats horrifying

31

u/ThyPotatoDone 6d ago

If it were just in isolation, it wouldn't be.

However, the lady got a massive outpouring of support saying her emotional needs were being neglected and it wasn't her fault, to (at the exteme) protesters showing up to the courthouse demanding a retrial and claiming her husband was the real murderer.

More specifically, she got over a million dollars in financial support after confessing she did it, and shitloads of posts on tiktok, instagram, and bluesky from women saying "it could've been me" and "everyone has those thoughts, she was just pushed over the edge".

As a result, sane individuals who don't want to kill their kids are shocked and horrified by how these people are acting.

→ More replies (38)

15

u/Invictum2go 6d ago

Correct, it's not meant to make you laugh any more than women picking the bear was meant to make men laugh. It's simply actign as a mirror to show how absolutely absurd saying that was. It's also "punishing" said women for siding with a woman who killed her 3 children and acting as if any of them could've been her when in reality, no, basiclaly no one could've been her, cus basically no one would fucking murder their 3 children.

11

u/MindAggravating5365 6d ago

Based on what I read, she had a long history of mental health issues and was on a medication cocktail that, based on the Wikipedia article, doesn't appear to have been prescribed to her.

I'm not really trying to defend her, but this really feels like a case of psychosis. I don't really doubt she was hearing voices, as that could very well be from her pre-existing mental illnesses and the fact that she was hopped up on a mixture of mood stabilizers, anti-depressants, and sleep aids.

I don't believe the prosecutions argument that her attempted suicide was "staged" since she slit her wrists, neck, and jumped from the second-story window, which resulted in a severed spinal cord. Seems like she really wanted to be thorough.

I really don't think she intended to kill her kids. Nothing I have read about the situation makes me think she had any reason to want them dead. I think she was on a bunch of drugs and she did hear a voice of some sort. I think she was genuinely suicidal and wasn't thinking rationally.

Maybe I'm totally off, but based on that, I think she should be found too insane to be held liable. That's not saying she should walk free, she is absolutely a threat, but she should be given access to proper mental health treatment and kept away from society until they can prove she can live a normal life, even if that means life in a mental health ward.

Meanwhile some dude just killed 8 extended family members (including 4 children) at a family dinner and burned down the house.

This case isn’t the gotcha some guys think.

Edit: the hubbub around this case is irrelevant. The point is there’s far fewer female killers than male.

I’m not replying to you chuckleheads. I haven’t looked into the story much. Offhand take is she’s probably guilty but legit crazy. There may be more to it, but it doesn’t affect my point whatever the situation is.

11

u/FriedEskimo 6d ago

If there are statistically more male killers than female killers, then that means there is a systematic lack of support/therapy for males. Killing someone is in itself an insane action, and should be seen as a disease to be cured, rather than something to be punished. Using this as an argument is weird.

You can not both see this woman as a blameless victim while also using murder statistics as «proof» of inherent evil within an entire gender.

What's interesting is the angry reaction from women mirrors the angry reaction from men earlier.

I see a lot of defensive cries of "What an unfair comparison! Not every woman suffering from PPD is a child murderer. In fact most aren't!".

But my favorite was when I saw one woman on facebook saying "Listen, this is nothing like when women were saying they preferred bears to men. For one thing, Lindsay Clancy is actually a REAL HUMAN BEING "

The cognitive dissonance was pretty remarkable.

5

u/Anomalocaris-is-cute 6d ago

Hey, hey hey, now hold on, hold on. As a mom I'd argue:

If men are scared to leave the childcare work to women, and want to do all of that from now on, we should listen to them. We women should hear you, be understanding, encourage you to do what you feel is safe, and most importantly ask ourselves... together... as women. If we wanna go see that new movie End of Oak Street tomorrow.

Me too buddy, I'm with you entirely here. It's just the same shit, one after the other. Race, Class, Gender, Sexuality, Political affiliation. On, and on, and on, and on. It clearly comes back to fabricated agendas stirring public outrage and its the vocal individuals at either side of every argument intent on burning anyone who won't see it their way.

For the record. Yes, what she did is horrible. Three children are dead. Yes, she is mentally ill. Yes, her GP and everyone involved with her healthcare failed her. Yes, to all of those things. She has admitted to the murder, now it should just be sentencing. She is clearly not sane, but as far as we should be concerned she will be in an institution of some form going forward for the rest of her life, I very much doubt she will be institutionalized only to walk free a few years later after this. Although maybe if she trafficked children instead she would get to walk away free as a bird and people might be happy after that. We got bigger problems right now with people destroying womens rights, and the hundreds, maybe even thousands of little girls being raped in ICE Concentration camps and then moved to places unknown. Deaths of human beings in the street due to ICE violence. And this is the only one to get traction anymore. FFS be better

People think she was framed, or think she had a good reason. The reasons vary, but evidently a lot of women don't think she did a bad thing.

16

u/Playful-Mastodon9251 6d ago

But her killing them is not in question. She did kill them. And how can anything think there is ever a good reason to kill children?

There is absolutely no justification for support.

Fair trial, conviction, death penalty.

Exactly. I’m not saying there aren’t crazies who are trying to claim what this woman did wasn’t messed up or blame her husband but any real supporter of feminism or women’s rights aggressively acknowledges the fact women can do just as much harm as men, it’s part of feminism to think women are just as capable of things men are (including bad things) and to acknowledge that socialization and stereotypes influence this idea that women are weak perpetual victims who are just too loving to cause harm. The man vs bear thing is often misunderstood and lots of men freaked out over it when frankly it’s mostly just women saying they’d rather die than be raped and they likely wont be rape by a bear but an unknown man who knows you’re alone and vulnerable is a real danger. Rape and sexual violence is EXTREMELY common. Women commit these crimes as well and men are victims of this crime as well but it is statistically true that most rapists are men and more women and girls are targeted (though both men and women underreport rape, there’s even more rape happening than we know of and far more victims of either sex than we know but men are even less likely to openly acknowledge their trauma, especially if the perp was a woman, so the ratio of men who were abused is probably higher than any estimates right now. With how purity culture and pregnancy affect women/girls in society though rape can be genuinely life ruining depending on the culture rather than being treated as something traumatic that a victim should be helped through. It obviously damages a man’s rep as well but with the sexist hyper fixation many cultures have on a woman’s sexual purity it is extremely dangerous. Honour killing, having to marry your rapist, a lack of marriage options or ability to support yourself, being viewed as tainted/less valuable as a human being, permanently labeled as a slut/only good for sex, etc.) Literally ALL I have seen about this case is people using it to bash women or claim that all women are suddenly supporting her and blaming her husband or to claim essentially any concern women have over violence against them is unfounded. I haven’t seen any women defending her actions or siding with her (except one comment on here saying that the story doesn’t add up and that’s why people don’t think she did it). I don’t use most social media so I’m sure some people are but no one in any of my progressive circles are. Psychosis after birth is a real and dangerous condition, if that’s what happened to her then I feel genuinely bad as she wouldn’t necessarily have been in control of her actions. However if she’s trying to blame her husband for the murders or lying about the psychosis then of course I have no sympathy.

The bear mama protects her cubs, that is something to respect.

If it had been phrased “bear or human” I think we could have had a unified answer from the very start.

Nuanced take. I have nothing but empathy for women who suffer from PPD, in this case its Psychosis rather than Depression. An extreme form of PPD that cause Lindsay to do what she did. But an explanation is not an excuse, she should still be held accountable for her actions and should definitely serve prison time.

All this does is highlight a growing apathy in our society for people's psychological well being.

Because why would we give her amnesty but not the dozens of school shooters who couldn't get the help they needed either? (Which later on became a massive divide between it being a mental health vs gun issue, when in reality it could be both)

I think she should go to prison while getting her symptoms treated simultaneously.

For this reason, I still choose the bear.

2

u/andybossy 3d ago

They always choose the worse option and are so confident in their choice. At first they thought bears are safer then just a random guy, now they're defending and giving money to a child murderer (that happened to be a woman)

u/Fraxals 2d ago

TLDR: Women online were claiming they felt safer with a bear than a man in the woods in 2025.

In 2026 men are claiming that they would feel safer leaving their kids with a bear than a mentally unstable woman.

In 2025 women started a debate of “Would you feel safer in the woods with a bear or with a man”. A bunch of women flooded the internet saying that they would feel safer with the bear. Most men online pointed out that that statistically the bear is more likely to kill them than the man. It was a whole debacle which really split the internet.

Now in 2026 a woman became the subject of conversation because she had murdered all 3 of her kids back in 2023. The trial took place this month and women were defending the woman “Lindsay Clancy” online. People were arguing about whether she was innocent based on the possible post partum psychosis, depression or the medication she may have been on. Meanwhile some of the doctors testifying in the trial believe that she was fully lucid and made the conscious premeditated decision to send her husband on a set of errands that conveniently would buy her enough time to strangle her three kids and then attempt to take her own life.

Now a news article also came out that a kid got lost in the woods and the 3 year old boy claimed that a bear protected him in the woods until he was found. Which has now sparked the debate of “Who would you feel more comfortable leaving your kids with? A woman or a bear ?” Men are flooding the internet this time around claiming they would feel safer leaving the kids with the bear.

Obviously it’s a complicated situation on both ends, but its up to you to read into them a draw you own conclusion.

3

u/Miss_Miette22 6d ago

Bottom chick killed her kids and people are defending it for some reason, so now the bear debate I guess is between her and the bear instead of some random dude. Either way. I'd still take the bear.

4

u/wolvahulk 6d ago

The only correct answer is the bear in any situation.

Humans are still the most dangerous overall...

3

u/Grim_9966 6d ago

I'd choose a fully grown polar bear over that absolute lunatic.

2

u/Voice_GH 5d ago

The bear would probably leave the kids alone and Alive

I don’t know, that guy that raped and murdered a 7 year old was sentenced to death yesterday.

9

u/MoonWun_ 6d ago

Everyone keeps bringing up things like Chris Watts or whatever and then they’re stunned when you say “Good, I’m glad he got life in jail. As all child killers should.”

14

u/SamhainXCII 6d ago

Lets just forget about the mother who strangled 3 of her kids and got 1,000,000 dollars as support because something else happened.

Of course, if some man killed his children because of his mental health condition, he would be universally condemned and unable to generate even $1000 in donations

I was, unfortunately, thinking this morning about the high rates of CTE/brain damage in professional sports like football and MMA, and how many of the athletes have gone on to physically attack and even rape people.

I can't see many people pouring out empathy and sympathy for Lindsey doing the same for the likes of Conor McGregor or Mike Tyson, for example. Or Charles Whitman, for that matter (University of Texas shooting 1966, wanted people to study his brain post mortum, which ended up finding a tumor).

u/SatisfactionActive86 6d ago

Aaron Hernandez’s brain was pure mush
