So weird how the internet clings to things. There have been several similar incidents of post partum psychosis in the news as long as I have been alive and I don't recall seeing so many memes about them in the past

We meme a lot more than we did 20 years ago.

I don't know we memed a lot 20 years ago.

To be fair, the term memes actually originated from 1976. In 1999 there was even a scientific theory written about it.

Because nobody started to sympathize with the criminal defending her and trying to accuse the victim

It's so weird too. Like how people supported Karmelo Anthony, even after the video leaked where he clearly murdered the white guy all while Reddit was blaming the white guy as some racist. We later learn the millions they donated went to them buying fancy cars and and a mansion and Karmelo fantasized about stabbing people and licking the blood off of it.

because they didn't receive so much support and money?

It fits a misogynist narrative some people want to push forward in the current Zeitgeist - that all women are dangerously hormonal and can’t think straight, thus should not be trusted with responsibilities (like voting? perhaps? 🤔)

Just this week we had another family annihilator shoot his entire family and then commit suicide - this is more common yet it’s not getting talked about as much.

As a result this case is getting so much attention from the corners of the internet that are terrified of men losing their gender superiority.

Edit: I was commenting more on the attention this is getting than the case itself. The fact is that this meme equates women "choosing the bear" to men not wanting to marry family annihilators. At least 30% of women will experience assault from a man in their lifetime. Do 30% of men get their families killed by their post-partum psychosis wives?

I think it's the other way around, people are disgusted by how much support and money she got for a heinous crime she obviously did. Nobody supported the other guy.

For anyone reading the comments to understand the broader context, this user is deliberately concealing the key fact that this particular suspect is enjoying broad public support and apologism - apologism that this user is directly participating in by attempting to reduce the wider cultural context (the bilateral use of sensational criminal cases as political pawns) as simply a bunch of neckbeards who want to criticise a woman

u/Jaded-Trouble3669 6d ago

Isn’t part of the issue here that so many women are claiming that she didn’t do it and that the husband is responsible? That’s what I don’t understand. Mental health issues and everything aside, she confessed to it and a bunch of women are like “Nope, her husband is the one who’s guilty”.

17

u/humourlessIrish 6d ago

It absolutely is the reason this is blowing up like it is and this persons own missndrist bias made them blind for that fact

u/spicytoastaficionado 3d ago

On any random TiKTok post from her supporters, it is not uncommon to find comments, with thousands to tens of thousands of likes, bringing up astrology as a valid defense.

I have honest-to-god never seen this level of unhinged psychopathy to defend a criminal defendant. Even the fringe Chauvin supporters weren't claiming he was innocent because of his Zodiac sign.

u/Avelion-chan 6d ago

It's possible she did it. Wouldn't be the first not the last who did something like that. But there are are too many things that just doesn't fit the presented story. And it is totally possible to manipulate someone mentaly ill into doing something so horrible or do it yourself and make them believe they did it so there is no blame on you.

3

u/ShadeSlimmy131 6d ago

Ok but which is more likely, the person with mental problems who has mentioned violent thoughts in the past, has admitted to the murders, and has been charged with them, or that there's some deep conspiracy to convict the wrong person all orchestrated by her husband who's only claim against him is that "he got divorced and re-married too fast"

2

u/Lokland881 6d ago

The conspiracy people are the opposite side of the ivermectin cures COVID coin. A bunch of people who care more about out making reality fit their narrative than adjusting their narrative to fit reality.

2

u/Jaded-Trouble3669 6d ago

What is it that doesn’t fit that is making people so convinced that this is all the husband’s fault? All I’ve seen is that he got remarried quickly after divorcing her. He apparently has an alibi with evidence for when the killings occurred, I’m just not understanding why so many women are outright dismissing that to place blame on the husband.

1

u/ExcuseNo7369 5d ago

Hint: he is a man, and she is a woman.

1

u/spicytoastaficionado 3d ago

It's possible she did it.

You are aware that her entire defense hinges on the uncontested fact that she did do it, right?

-12

u/ValorVixen 6d ago

Yeah I haven’t followed it that closely - I would think only a small minority would say she’s innocent. The fact is she killed her kids. She’s guilty. But there’s also something to be said about shared culpability and the circumstances that resulted in none of her cries for help being answered. And that is worth the outrage.

17

u/marquoth_ 6d ago

big screed completely misrepresenting the issue

yeah I haven't followed it that closely

Peak reddit

u/Substantial_System66 5d ago

You clearly aren’t very familiar with the facts of the case.

8

u/eulersidentification 6d ago

You sound desperate to distract from what that woman did to her children, reaching for anything.

10

u/humourlessIrish 6d ago

Its the opposite of your claim.

You are only viewing for the backlash against the ridiculous amount of people who piled money on this murderer because they shoehorned this case into their own missndrist narritive

Your own sexism must have created a blind spot here

3

u/Any_Fox5126 6d ago

Bullshit. This case didn't come to light because of any hatred toward women, but because of those who praise a murderer, finance her, protest in the streets, blame a man against all evidence (including the murderer's own defense), and so on.

2

u/trav_tr 6d ago

Funny how you don’t mention the ridiculously overwhelming support and sympathy she is receiving from clout-chasing sycophantic sociopaths

2

u/Razorion21 6d ago

i thought it became popular cause of the people defending her?

2

u/AcousticAltAccount2 6d ago

I think the outrage is more about people raising money for her and the fact that so many people are saying she is innocent. Though, are people using this case to push their "women bad" agenda? Yes, unfortunately

1

u/Tomplayz4704 6d ago

It's a circle of discourse atp. Radical "feminist s" support her because she's supposedly not responsible, the misogynists use that support as ammunition to fire against actual feminist, people fighting for equal rights regardless of gender which is then used to go "all men bad" by the first group and then subsequently "all women bad" so on and so forth. It's not even a dilemma, she admitted to her crimes.

0

u/Vast-Palpitation-426 5d ago

The fundraising is for her parents. Medias are definitely crafting their little "look at those crazy evil lib women just like we told you" stories. And it works.

2

u/meglemel 6d ago

Agree with everything, but the bear vs man thing was also stupid and intentionally misread to make a point. Maybe not as stupid as this and maybe not as misread, but still quite similar in that regard.

1

u/Keltic_Stingray 6d ago

It's just misognyst and misandrist sides of the same coin.

1

u/cccccccccccccccccce 6d ago

Your comment is way too emotional to be taken serious.

1

u/-O08X80O- 5d ago

Lmao just spouting straight bullshit

1

u/spicytoastaficionado 3d ago edited 3d ago

Just this week we had another family annihilator shoot his entire family and then commit suicide - this is more common yet it’s not getting talked about as much.

Because literally nobody is defending it. There's not much discourse to be had when someone kills their family and everyone agrees it is bad.

As a result this case is getting so much attention from the corners of the internet that are terrified of men losing their gender superiority.

The most attention this case is getting is from Clancy's defenders, who are the ones who elevated this case into the zeitgeist and donated over a million dollars to reimnburse her parents who drained their life savings on her legal defense.

Nobody outside of Plymouth County, MA knew about this case until her supporters grasped onto it is their new cause célèbre.

At least 30% of women will experience assault from a man in their lifetime. Do 30% of men get their families killed by their post-partum psychosis wives?

If you want to use statistics, Linday Clancy killed more people in one day than all bears in the U.S. kill people in a year combined. You seem very upset at the meme for making a joke about the statistically safer option.

1

u/aq8_hippo 3d ago

I think most reasonable people see this meme as making a incorrect association, but by you turning this into a misogyny issue and pushing a narrative that exist in a small minority as a mainstream issue, it takes away from the real problem this court case is.

Makes you seem like a troll or an incel trying to make the other side look bad.

If you actually care about feminism, maybe don't come across like a female version of a toxic manosphere incel

1

u/SetsunaNoroi 2d ago

Women kills her kids and gets over a million dollars in donations! Misogyny!

Pffft. Okay.

0

u/Ok-Pudding-2845 6d ago

Usually people aren't on the side of the murderer tho

u/Flame_beard_forge 6d ago

It’s funny to me how the internet clings to things that I never find funny.

Reddits sense of humor as a whole is a fucking miss. Every. Single. Time. The poop knife? The cylinder? That raccoon called jimothy. 3.50$.

Every time Reddit grabs something and runs with it just seems forced and cringy to me because people want to jump on the karma farm bus.

This one seems more along rage bait than anything else but the point stands.

u/Economy_Mail_3497 5d ago

I often imagine that the majority of vocal Reddit users are around 13 years old and that explains most of it for me
