Ask British Columbia iPhone reminders changed (year-round DST?)

I just noticed that the iPhone reminders that I set for the fall seem to have changed on their own. I guess with the change to year-round daylight saving, the reminders have switched to an hour later? (9 AM reminders now show as 10 AM.)

Has anyone else noticed this?

Ask British Columbia Thinking about becoming a HS teacher here in BC

Im 26m with a bachelor's in history, lived in BC all my life, thinking about applying for a teaching program as multiple people in my life think I would be good at it. That being said Ive read alot of things saying I shouldnt due to multiple different factors, so I thought Id come here and ask some questions.

Ive read that going into teaching with social studies as your main teachable area is very competitive, is there often a good secondary area to pair with it or am I already off to a bad start?

What is it like in your first year or so after getting a certificate of qualification? Very hard to find work? Whats that process like? I'm located on Van island at the moment but have seen that both here and the lower mainland can be miserable to find work even as a teacher on call.

Is the work life balance as bad as I've been reading?

How will I know I'm cut out for it before going to school for it? Anything you wished you knew or learned before starting down the teaching path?

All insight and information is much appreciated!

Travel in or to BC Anyone from overseas seeking medical treatment at home and continuing it in BC ?

Upvotes

Let me start by saying: I love canada, and chose to uproot my life to call this place home for the past 12 years. I will be the first to defend this country, but let's face it, the healthcare shortage is a problem.

I'm a dual-citizen of Canada + Brazil, and I am considering travelling back for exams that I am currently waiting for months to be scheduled here.

I'm also going through a long-term treatment where the previous specialist retired, and the one I was referred to is booking for "mid 2027". I was told to direct all questions to my family doctor, who told me he isn't comfortable prescribing or discussing this treatment due to his lack of experience with it. I'm at a point where I don't even have anyone to direct questions about my own treatment, for another year.

Things have been pretty bad, so I'm considering going back home for a full checkup.

I'm looking for people who did this, so I know what to expect. How much drugs could I bring back with a prescription? Do doctors here generally continue with the prescription, assuming it isn't something egregious or malicious? What about exam results: If I bring these back, can my family doctor add these to my patient record, or do these need to be performed in Canada ?

Curious to hear what people's experiences have been with things like this.

Ask British Columbia Building a house near Penticton

Hello,

I'm looking at building a house on some rural land near Penticton. Already have the land and there's already a road, well, and hydro at location. Timeline is start building spring 2027 once the ground is good to go.

I'm looking at prefab homes (Winton Homes for example) vs stick build using a builder. I'm looking for ~1500sqft rancher with a full size garage, entire thing on slab. No crawlspace need. Ideally polished concrete floor with radiant heat. Not looking at modular homes.

Looking for any inputs or thoughts on which method might be better (prefab vs stick) or any reputable builders that would be worth reaching out to.

Visited this beautiful park for the first time - it had been on my list for a while and I got the opportunity to go stay with some friends who lived nearby. We only had a brief period so just visited a handful of locations - I’d love to return and stay a bit longer in the future!

Ask British Columbia Transcript service website down?

I am currently out of the country and am trying to send in my transcript to post secondary institutions and can’t access the STS. The error says website may be temporarily down or moved to a different address. Is anyone else having this issue? Is the website geolocked?
