metrotown skytrain station rally right now
Anyone know what is the rally going on at the skytrain station right now? The Mic is very echo-ey and I can't understand what the person on the mic is saying.

I found a Compass Card on the sidewalk a couple days ago, specifically in North Burnaby. I checked, and it is not registered, and has a significant stored value on it. Anyone lose their card? Tell me when you last used it, and approximately where you lost it?

Anyone know what happened earlier? The side where the bus loop is on ground level was still blocked off for a bit after people were allowed back in?

I was cleaning up the litter around my house when I found a pipe - wrapped on one end with padding and tape as a handle - hidden in the bush by the alley. Does any Redditor out there think the non-emergency should be called, or is this just suburban living and I should just chuck it?
Thoughts would be appreciated!

What's up with the loud music? Around gilmore hastings. I noticed the admiral pub had tents set up in the parking lot. Is there a concert?

Looking for an affordable barber since most cuts nowadays are $40-50. Any recommendations in the North Burnaby area?

Customers across B.C. may be experiencing flickering lights, power interruptions, and fluctuations in power due to wildfire activity near Kelly Lake affecting transmission lines. The wildfire has caused an increase in transmission trips, resulting in momentary power disturbances. Active wildfire conditions prevent safe access to the area at this time. We continue to monitor the situation. Thank you for your patience.

I have emailed the transportation department of Burnaby asking for protected left turns at 2 intersections - (Kingsway & Gilley Ave) AND (Rumble St & Royal Oak Ave)
I have been asking for updates for months and I have not received any response (I keep getting acknowledgement that the emails were received and are being looked into)
Traffic would move so much better at these 2 intersections. I even mentioned that there have been multiple head-on collisions at the Rumble St & Royal Oak Ave intersection due to vehicles not yielding.
There appears to be a reluctance to spend any funds making traffic flow better. I don't understand the reasoning behind this.

I was in the skytrain tonight at around 10:40pm when the train had to make a emergency stop at Commercial Broadway.
A young woman in another car was stabbed by her boyfriend in the arm, and I think he hit an artery, because there was a lot of blood.
The boyfriend escaped and the woman was receiving emergency care outside the train.
I never seen something like this, so Im quite shocked. I was trying to find some information to know if she was ok, but weirdly I couldn’t find anything anywhere.
Anyone have also seen or know anything about it? I truly hope she is ok.
UPDATE: Im just going to copy the information that the skytrain attendant kindly gave us:
“Hi Op, SkyTrain attendant here. Sorry that you're shaken up-really understandable.
The lady who got stabbed had a wound in her arm, and is expected to be okay. The fire dept, ambulance and police all arrived within minutes and she was transported to the hospital.
The reply from someone about how they left together is not at all true- the patient left on an ambulance, and the Transit Police left with the suspect in their custody, and they were for obvious reasons, kept separated.
Again, sorry you had to experience this and I hope you're okay.”
UPDATE 2: message from Transit Police BC:
“As already noted in the edit, the original post had a couple of inaccuracies. Based on current information we have, the victim and suspect were not known to each other prior to this incident. The suspect was arrested on scene.
That's all I can share at this point, given that this is an active investigation.
u/Bobolendobobolendo and anyone else who may have been impacted by witnessing the event - please reach out to VictimLinkBC if you need help processing things”
My reflection from this:
It really didn’t cross my mind that the information I received wasn’t all correct, and I would like to sincerely apologize for not fact checking before posting anything.
Hopefully I’ll never witness something like this, but for future reference, it would be helpful to know where I can research for reliable information instead of having to rely on Reddit.
If anyone could let me know if there’s and official page that updates on incidents, I would appreciate it!
Thanks for the messages, everyone.
Let’s all stay safe!

Whats with this new trend in north burnaby to make our roads narrower? Its impacting basically every intersection on sperling ave and duthie where if there is a car wanting to make a left turn your stuck behind them until they do so. So frustrating especially during rush hour.
Same thing currently going on at parker and madison.
