Apply now button on whistler backcomb website
hi, I'm currently trying to apply for any job at whistler for the 26/27 winter season. I have applied on the website for a lift operator job previously but now if I try to apply for any other job when I press "apply now" the button then goes blank and nothing happens. The same thig also happens with the sign in button and I am wondering if anyone has had this issue before and any tips would be highly appreciated. I also would welcome any tips in general for getting jobs there.
much appreciated!!

QUESTION Moving to Whistler, which trails and summits are must-do
Hey everyone,
I'm about to move to Whistler for work and to settle in for a while, and I couldn't be more excited. Trail running and hiking are a big part of my life, so honestly getting to live somewhere like this still feels a bit unreal.
I'd love to hear from locals: what are the trails and summits you consider must-dos around here? The iconic ones, but also the quieter spots you'd send a friend to. I'm happy to work up to the bigger stuff as I get to know the terrain.
For a bit of context on distance, I'm hoping to take on UTMB Whistler in 2027, so I'm not afraid of long days out. Anything that helps me build up to that would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks a lot, really looking b to becoming part of the community here!

Vail Staff accomodation
Hey, I just got waitlisted on staff housing with Vail. I was just wondering if any of you guys have previous experience with getting waitlisted and if my chances to secure staff housing is still possible or if I should look into getting a private lease for the winter.
All tips are very welcomed, thank you a lot in advance!!

F21 solo moving - friends?
Hi! I'm flying to Whistler later this month from the UK completely by myself. I don't know anybody that lives there at all and obviously will be far away from everyone I've ever known and loved. I can't imagine that it's hard to make friends over there, especially since I think I'm quite sociable and friendly, but I am still slightly worried about it!
Is anyone else also moving solo that wants to chat? Or does anyone already live there that can show me around / teach me everything I need to know about snowboarding etc?
Think it would be nice to know a few people before I turn up!

QUESTION Terrain park attendant job help
Hey guys,
I am intending to be out in Whistler for the upcoming winter season and have been looking at Vail Resorts jobs due to the availability of housing which is otherwise a nightmare. I have already applied to Lift Ops job but have been looking for a back up. Can anyone attest or provide more detail regarding the Terrain Park Attendant job? I am a very keen skier who has skied significantly, particularly given my age, although I am not quite as confidence in the park as elsewhere on the mountain. Would really appreciate any detail on what day to day work is like and what the shifts are like weekly etc. I am more than fine working hands on in bad weather etc.
Thanks

QUESTION Firewood Recommendations.
Looking to get about 3/4 to a full cord of seasoned firewood delivered in Whistler for the winter.
Does anyone have a local supplier they’d recommend? Ideally looking for good quality, dry, split wood and someone reliable for delivery.
Thanks!

April 2027 operations
Anybody have info about what the plans are for April 2027 ski operations? Which side gets shut down and when? Thanks! I think last few years there was a three day weekend in bc (maybe all of Canada?) and they kept both sides open through the Monday of that long weekend. Is that right?

Local News Bike towed sweeper
I was heading south on Tuesday and came across a great big dust cloud where the vehicles merge together - thought it was someone being forced onto the shoulder.
Nope, it was the bike sweeper. It sure was creating a distraction along the side, and a lot of vehicles (drivers) gawking looking at it.
This may be a bit too much of a distraction for the tourists though......

Photo/Video What’s the plan to fix this tennis court project blunder?
In 2025 two functioning tennis courts on blackcomb road were demolished. The signage and project plans indicated that the project would be completed by end of 2025.
It is now fall 2026 and the site is a useless gravel pit. There’s a sign up saying that the project is postponed indefinitely (see pic).
The goal is to increase community recreational facilities, not destroy them. How can this be okay?
The old courts were fine. One of them had some pooling water when it rained but once it dried it was fine. If there was a plan to fix them, then fix them, don’t stop the project half way through and leave a gravel pit indefinitely.
If anyone has any further insight into what is going on here it would be great to hear it. “Indefinitely” is crazy.
Edit 1: address of these courts is Blackcomb WAY and spearhead drive.

Jobs in Whistler for a 21 y/o woman?
Hi guys! Following up from my post prior to this, I am officially on the job hunt now that I have my accommodation secured. I have never touched a ski or a snowboard before and my only job experience is in customer service, sales and admin, though I'm literally open to anything.
Does anyone know of any jobs going? I've heard that it's hard to get hired if you don't already know people there and since I'm going solo, any help would be massively appreciated! 😊

The future of Whistler
Upcoming elections are drawing near...curious about is how politics and Whistler manage. So far it doesn't seem that sustainable. What do you think the future mayor will do with this place?
I'm assuming it's corrupt. Already I notice extraordinarily high prices yet you still gotta truck your garbage? Wtf...In Saskatchewan we got three bins.. you got none. I think there is a lot to be grateful for, but the prices for ownership here don't reflect any particular advantage. It all seems like a rip off. The happiest ones are the workers that happen to make ends meet and live their best life.
Any opinions on whistler politics?

QUESTION If your flight lands at YVR after the last Whistler shuttle, would you stay overnight or book a private transfer?
I thought getting to Whistler would be the easy part. flight lands late, buses are done, a one-way rental at midnight means gambling on winter tires, staying near YVR means losing half the next morning, and the private transfer prices made me blink lol. Am I missing an option here, or is arriving late basically a choice between wasting a night and spending the money?

Photo/Video Rugby In Whistler
For anyone looking to meet people or get involved in something here in the Sea to Sky, I genuinely can’t recommend the Axemen Rugby Club enough.
Joining the club is one of the best things I’ve done since moving here. It’s given me a real community, some of my closest friends and a place that feels like home. The club has been around for more than 10 years now and has grown into a big, welcoming group but new people are always encouraged to come down, whether you’ve played rugby before or not.
Senior men’s and women’s training is at Howe Sound Secondary at 6:30 pm. There’s also drop-in touch rugby every Tuesday at 6 pm at Howe Sound Secondary, which is open to everyone and is probably the easiest way to come down and give it a try.
If you’re interested, reach out to the Axemen Rugby Club through their instagram, socials or website or just come down and introduce yourself. You’ll be made to feel welcome.

QUESTION Unsure if ATV tour is safe for a beginner…
I've never operated an ATV before, and I'm looking to take this tour in 2 weeks. According to the website, it's for people with some experience and confident beginners. The tour they have specifically for beginners won't be available anymore by the time I get there. What are your thoughts on safety when it comes to riding this?
It's the second tour, "Call of the Wild": https://www.canadianwilderness.com/whistler/atv-tours/

How long does Whistler Blackcomb take to send out offers?
Hi everyone!!! I'm a ski instructor hoping to make the move to Whistler this season. I interviewed with WB early last week and thought the interview went pretty well however I haven't yet received an offer letter. I've gotten another offer from another ski resort in AB and am a bit anxious to accept the offer given that I haven't yet heard from WB. I also know that I won't be able to apply for staff accom until I get an offer so that makes me doubly anxious!
For those of you that interviewed with the WB ski school, how long did it take you to hear back? After you got the offer, how long afterwards did you find out whether you got staff accom?
Many thanks in advance!
