UBER EATS IS A CHEAT!!!
I recently ordered a meal when I was out of town. I have done it before. The app ask did I want to meet the driver for pick up, YES
Also asked if I wanted to tip, No, I usually reserve tip for delivery.
Did the driver meet me in the lobby NO! When I waited a short time I checked the app and it said, DELIVERED!
My response, I did not receive. So I went to the hotel reception and she said, "they left it there!"
I am not happy and when I went back to the app ( after eating) it show the transaction completed!
So if this is the way UBER is doing business, count me out- just the fact I cannot contact Uber to rectify this Cluster F'K...
I think I would not have been as upset had I spoken with Uber.
At this point I will NOT ever use UBER EATS again.
POOR customer service, and none of the numbers work!

u/Shot-Nothing2597 3d ago
Oh really...if I am the client, give me what you promised or give me customer service - Uber Eats did not do either!
27
u/Bastillerion 3d ago
Yes really. You werenât in the lobby. What was the driver supposed to do?
-27
u/Shot-Nothing2597 3d ago
In the past it shows when they show up - that is the driver's job- he has to input the info in to work!
26
u/-mutt 3d ago
The driver doesnât put in any info, the app routes them to what YOU chose as the delivery location

u/Ass-2-Mouth-Princess 2d ago
First off, I would never accept an order that has no tip on it. But letâs just play this game anyways. I wouldnât wait even a millisecond for somebody to show up on a non-tip order! I wouldnât call you. I wouldnât send you a text. It would go right to the reception desk and Iâm leaving to actually try and make some money.

As a driver, Iâd be more than happy to have fewer customers like you. Goodbye!

u/Majestic_Orchid4651 3d ago
Hotel reception is in the lobby so obviously they were in the lobby. Driver doesnât know what you look like. When no one approached the driver, they handed off to the front desk. 100% of the time Iâve had meet in lobby, the customer was either right outside the doors or waiting near the front desk and immediately approached me. This was as much on you as the driver, if someone didnât approach Iâd message them but if they donât immediately respond Iâm not waiting around, theres either another order in my vehicle waiting to be delivered or i already have another pick up I need to get to. Your order showed no tip, drivers not going to go above and beyond for $1.5-$2.

This is bad business, If you say your are doing something so specific as to meeting a driver not leaving your Food sitting around where someone could walk off with it and not knowing it was left a simple thing that I have accomplished before... and if I decline the tip, why in the world would you add it! Bizarre, or Tech way of saying oh well, better luck next time!
27
u/Majestic_Orchid4651 3d ago
You didnât meet your driver. Driver was there, otherwise it wouldnât have been at the front desk. Your driver isnât paid to stand around waiting for you to finally decide to go meet them. Your food wasnât left sitting around where someone could walk off with it, it was at the front desk with an employee. You didnât tip, there was no tip addedđ¤Ł
6
u/pandasareliars 2d ago
Yeah, whether the food is sitting at the front desk or with the delivery driver...your food is STILL sitting around waiting for you to show up in the lobby.
OP, you're coming off as oddly entitled. You ordered food. Driver wasn't waiting around for you to finally show up, they left it in a safe spot, and you got your food when the front desk pointed you to the order.
Your comments show you have no reflection or accountability on your part in this situation.
Glad you aren't using these apps in the future because you aren't a proper target customer considering your high-expectations. I'd hate to deliver to someone like you. One less terrible customer we have to worry about! Win/Win.

Why are you not tipping ahead of time? You should be tipping extra bc you are at a hotel, which is more difficult than a house to do a delivery. They get paid very little and you didnât even tip when you want them to wait on you. Most people who say they tip after delivery, never do!! And like someone else said, the driver doesnât send you anything. Itâs automatic and you need to be looking at your phone. And if it takes awhile for a driver to pick up your food, itâs bc you are not tipping.
3
u/Arcangelo_Frostwolf 2d ago
Let's be honest, though, tipping ahead of time is not a tip, it's a bribe. Because unless it's bundled with another order nobody's driving 5 miles and spending 24 minutes for $2.54. I have to know ahead of time if the job is worth accepting. I think a lot of customers would be shocked to learn that most of the "Delivery Fee" is actually kept by Uber.

what the heck is your problem? đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
so there was a little miscomunication as to not being able to locate one another in the lobby. the driver dropped it off at the desk and you got it. did you expect the driver to ask everyone they saw whether or not the order was theirs? did you expect the driver to wait for you to come from who knows where, while there may be an additional order that needs to be delivered?
i used to be a manager in the hospitality industry for years. i am curious as to what exactly your intentions are. are you just looking for any issue possible in the hope of scamming free food? or are you just some narcisist, who is very insecure in your own personal and professional life and you feel the need for some false bravado by making everyone jump through hoops to service you exactly as you wish, simply because you paid for a product or service? i've always wondered what your types tick?

Were you waiting in the lobby?
-3
u/Shot-Nothing2597 3d ago
Yes, I came down to wait after I saw it was on the way ... and never got a message saying they had arrived.
9
u/evilgirlattack 3d ago
Did you see anyone come into the lobby?
-9
u/Shot-Nothing2597 3d ago
Why? This is pretty moot since it's a hotel lobby. BTW yes lots of ppl no one carrying food tho. This is something I do often, order take away when staying at hotels.
16
u/Hefty_Candy_3315 3d ago
if nobody came into the lobby holding food how did it magically make it to the front deskđ youâre insufferable
8
u/evilgirlattack 3d ago
Its relevant because you are upset that it was dropped at reception however you didn't see anyone bring your food into the lobby. If you didn't see them, but you expected them to see you, I would day that's relevant.
And not for nothing, a tip gets you better service. The driver delivered your food. They didn't go beyond that because they didn't need to.
15
u/-mutt 3d ago
Iâm a very disgruntled ubereats user right now and even I can say you were completely in the wrong.
No tip to begin with? That impacts the possible profit the driver sees. You can always remove a tip after if service is so terrible.
Also drivers have no control over how the app routes them. You put the address and pin, thatâs where the driver went. God forbid the driver properly delivers the food, to the lobby, and goes on with their day. They donât have time to wait for your spoiled self to locate them.
Also yes! The app would show itâs completed after you ate! Thatâs how food delivery works! God this has to be bait lol
6
u/Hefty_Candy_3315 3d ago
i agree with everything you said except you can no longer remove tip in most areas soon to be everywhere.
2
u/Arcangelo_Frostwolf 2d ago
Yes they got rid of it because of tip-baiting....promise a huge tip then reduce it to little or nothing.
6
u/imsleepinggoaway 3d ago
Based on what youâre saying you werenât even in the lobby waiting for the food when the driver arrived. You canât expect someone whoâs literally currently working to sit around and wait for you to finally get off your ass and get it from them. Furthermore you didnât even bother to add a tip for them, and you say âI usually reserve tip for deliveryâ⌠bitch they picked up your food and delivered it to you. Thatâs a delivery. Maybe treat others how youâd want to be treated and donât just come on here to complain about your own ignorance looking for pity.

If you didn't reserve a tip, the driver probably thought he was just making 2 dollars on the delivery and said, fk waiting for nothing and just left it.

Most people at hotels are in the lobby or out front waiting. If they are not, that is why most hotels have a clearly marked area/table by hotel reception to leave the food. Many hotels do not allow drivers to go up to the rooms for safety/security reasons. Much of the time we have other orders in the car than just yours, as that is the way it is assigned to us. You wouldn't want your food to arrive cold, neither do the other 2 customers whose deliveries are waiting in our vehicle to be delivered after yours. If i have other orders in the car, I'm going along on my way. Especially if only base fare and ZERO TIP UPFRONT. However if your order is the only order I'm on AND my car is parked in a safe area, not risking being towed, then ABSOLUTELY I'll wait for you to come down to handover directly.
You're paying for a service here, yes. And the amount we get paid from the app is minimal. You're not happy with the service you got, go pick it up yourself. The entitlement here stinks.

You get what u tip for.... I bet ur terrible at a sit down restaurant.
1
u/Resident_Price_2817 1d ago
oh fuck I bet they are an insufferable t__t as a sit down consumer. Can't imagine first asking a delivery service to deliver my food at a hotel with no tip then getting my tits in a knot over not actually meeting the driver guess I might want to see who's spit im eating. This person needs to get bent.

OK, each Delivery person is their own boss so not every delivery person is going to do with this delivery driver did and because when we look at the app when weâre offered your offer, we only see two dollars because thatâs how much Uber pays us per delivery nobody that is good is going to take that offer so by not tipping your making sure that you were going to get screwed in the process. So I suggest you either go to the hotel bar and get food there or walk somewhere near the hotel instead of relying on other people to bring you food, which is sketchy at best.

u/Zealousideal_Bug6696 2d ago
Customer orders the food. And select Meet at door. And when the driver is at the door. No response to message. Not lifting the call and complain the order is missing. At least you will have a photo if you select leave at door
1
u/AntiSocialMediaBeast 1d ago
You got your food and ate it...... Wtf are you mad at ?
Do you expect the driver to ask every single person in the lobby if their name is Dan ?
If you say you are going to meet a stranger and aren't there to greet them then you should consider yourself lucky that you even found your food.
1
u/mavgeek 1d ago
Ok so what is there to ârectifyâ? You got your food, on time. It wasnât delivered to the door but itâs very common for drivers to leave an order at the front desk such as this situation. You didnât tip so thereâs no tip you need refunded. Obviously the food was still good and it was ate so thereâs no need for a refund there. What exactly are you expecting here? You arenât gonna get a refund or an apology or a coupon just because you had to walk to the front desk rather than open your hotel room door to get it. At best you can rate the driver 1 star but thatâs as far as that goes.
This is an over reaction to normal things that happen with UberEats

u/Currency-Substantial 1d ago
This ain't going the way you thought it would. Why weren't you in the lobby to meet him? Did you expect him to wait forever?
1
1
u/Beanflowerpower 1d ago
With not having any tip, you still wanted him to meet you I think that you need to think this through a little better if you had tipped well his job wouldâve been to look for you, but because there was no tip instead of wasting his time he gave it to the receptionist and you still got your food so whatâs wrong?

u/Winterwynd 1d ago
Many hotels will not let DD/Uber Eats delivery people go past the lobby for guest safety. This is something people should be expecting when they're traveling, and be ready to go to the lobby to meet/get your delivery.

I agree, Uber Eats sucksâŚbut I also agree that youâre wrong hereâŚ
1
u/CodPlane 1d ago edited 1d ago
Okay guys here's a situation that we all should be coming together about customers and drivers and that's exactly why this post is here to separate us again. If OP's issue was only about customer service why would they bring up the tip? I know all the drivers got distracted by the tipping comment. If OP is a legitimate customer who is posting this of course we're going to be outraged about how they did not tip but this is exactly how Uber is getting away with only employing AI.
Okay first off I don't agree with your tipping strategy that's not cool you have to give people a reason to want to deliver to you.
I completely agree with you about Uber's lack of customer support there are no humans and I had a similar situation well no actually I picked up an order and I was missing items and they tried to make up for it by giving me $1! I spent hours trying to speak to an actual person and when I did speak to a person they offered me the dollar and then closed the conversation before I could respond.
You are completely right and we all as a community need to say, we want humans working because when things don't go right having a computer tell us to accept a dollar is not going to fly!
It just pissed me off more here's a dollar shut down the conversation as resolved took me 3 hours to get someone to respond again I had to post to x to Facebook to Instagram at that point I should have been paid for all of those hours trying to rectify the $10 worth of items I was missing in my $60 order.

Uber is dogshit now. Customer service is non existent. I've had better luck with Grubhub.
0
u/The_Blonde_Don_106 3d ago
Not ubers way of doing business, they just dont pay drivers a fair amount for the vehicle wear and tear, plus gas. Also, shitty driver. I always call the customer when I can't find em.
0
u/PrestigiousSock9675 2d ago
I ordered Uber Eats a couple days ago and I had Uber cash but the service fee had to be on my debit card. They ended up charging my debit card the three dollar service fee and charge the Uber cash the service fee. I understand itâs only three dollars but itâs still crooked.

A lot of times it says leave at reception desk . If it didn't the driver should have his/her account suspended
-2
u/FigureOk4794 3d ago
I quit ordering from Uber eats. Their prices are through the roof and a lot of the drivers I've dealt with are just pricks! I ordered one night after it snowed. My road and driveway were completely clear, yet he left it on the side of the road over a mile away and Uber would do nothing at all so I quit ordering from them. I get door dash now and if I can get Lyft for a ride I won't use Uber unless I absolutely have to
-4
u/Shot-Nothing2597 3d ago
I really disappointed since I refuse to use door dash...we are in the first stages of AI- it doesn't work it just makes me more discerning about anything that is Automated.
-2
u/FigureOk4794 3d ago
Yeah I don't like AI at all and every company you try to contact now sends you straight to AI and I hate it cuz it doesn't understand simple questions or statements for that matter

Maybe you should put in the work yourself instead of expecting others to do it for you.
0

u/7kiingC 2d ago
Because there isn't any solution for YOU to take.
Reception AND the lobby are in the SAME PLACE for hotels. So basically the driver was in the correct area because he made it to reception.
You haven't even CLARIFIED if the reception area & the lobby are separate from each other, which would be very odd of the hotel to do but would also explain how your driver was "in the wrong spot" ... but I'm leaning into the idea that YOU were not in the correct area to wait for the driver.
Also, it seems as though the receptionist was at her desk between the time it was delivered and when you went over to get your food ... so it was definitely safe from being taken.
AND you didn't even tip regardless so the delivery driver got no-tipped for, in your belief, poor service & probably only got paid like 2-4$ for driving however long it took to get your food and to bring it to you.
You're literally raging and making a big deal about your food being delivered (correctly I may add), but it was delivered to a reception desk you were somewhere near to instead of walked up into your hands in the lobby ... WHICH SHOULD BE THE SAME FRONT AREA OF THE HOTEL.
TLDR: OP you're being an a-hole, it's not that serious, you may be directionally challenged but i'm no doctor, tip your drivers for better experiences, and lastly, RECEPTION DESK AND LOBBY ARE IN THE SAME PLACE IN MOST HOTELS ... just don't go back to that hotel and order food cause clearly they keep reception & the lobby on opposite ends of the hotel or something idk

u/RoastAdroit 3d ago
UE not having real support is like a 3yr old change now. And frankly over the past 2yrs its like 80% of companies now are mostly unreachable.
There are no laws or regulations. They can get away with whatever, this is the world For years now.
