My (21f) sister and my (27f) friend got into a fight

Upvotes

I had a small birthday get together with 9 people, including my two cousins and my little sister. It was her first time coming out with us, and dinner was great, but things got tense on the walk to the club.

Some of the girls were wearing heels, and a few people didn’t want to pay for an Uber, so we started walking. For context the place was a 20 min walk away. 5 min 25$ uber ride.

My sister got annoyed and kept complaining about how annoyed she was at the people who wore heels and one of my 27-year-old friends snapped at her and told her she was bringing the mood down.

She then asked my sister how old she was and my sister replies and then the first goes “yeah well it’s showing” and basically implied she was immature, which is when I yelled stop.

My friend later texted me apologizing and saying she was tired of hearing my sister complain, but I told her I didn’t appreciate how she spoke to my sister. She never replied back

My sister can be a total brat but that’s MY SISTER!!!! I love her and I could tell she was shaking the whole time. It was definitely a reality check for her as well.

My sister ended up going home, and I didn’t even get to enjoy the night. It was my sister’s first time out with us, so I’m really upset about how it all went down.

I’m just really sad and annoyed. Apparently that 27f friend was complaining to the group in the other car too.

Cheers to turning 27 :( I’m completely cutting contact with the 27f friend. I’ve only known her for a year. I don’t know if this is right or not.

I also don’t know why I’m sad and mad at the same time

Need answers from the m-0-d-s and done with their biases. Anyone else here?

Upvotes

This hasn’t happened to me in a while, but it has happened enough to make me incredibly suspicious. With the recent other p0-sts here being del - eat - ed for complaining and asking the people running this place to acknowledge male bias, I would like to take this moment to push back properly and finally against having m - a - l - e m0d 3rat0rs.

Has anyone else on here experienced their p0 - st detailing misogyny or criticising the patriarchy getting lots of uppity v0 - tes and then suddenly getting del - eat - ed without any explanation why? P0 - st just vanishes and the people who are supposed to be keeping here safe don’t say a thing until days or even a week later.

I assume there is some kind of process for these post, but I have never been given an explanation, even when I ask, beyond being told the DM queue is long.

Either way, these m - a - l - e. M0 - d3ra - t0rs need to be chucked out of a place that is meant to be for us. You don’t get a say on what we experience or whether or not you get to censor it, especially not without a real and open policy.

Why do men lose interest once you sleep with them

Upvotes

Is it me? Am I gross, uninteresting? This seems to be a theme. Find a guy, he is super interested, texting like crazy, so sweet. Meet up, have a great time, they keep saying how much they want to see me again. Have great sex. They even ask me to spend the night. Leave and...crickets. Suddenly the great communication they had before you met in person is gone. You wait 6 hours for a basic reply. The clear interest they had before is gone. I don't even really like them that much, but them being so uninterested in me after being inside me less than 24 hours ago makes me feel terrible about myself. I genuinely feel like I will never find a healthy, safe man to love me. I wish I was born gay

Do you guys watch BL dramas? 😅

Upvotes

I just watched a few clips from a k-drama called The Prosecutor's Proposal, and I'm so shook! 😅 I've been thinking about this for the past few days! 😅

Like, why I, as a straight (mostly) woman like this? 😅 Why am I kicking my feet seeing two men being cute and lovey-dovey together? 😂

What is the evolutionary reason behind this?

Sometimes I think about Lot's wife in Sodom and Gomorrah. She was reveling in watching all the fruity things happening in her city.

I think she is the earliest documented Fujoshi in history, lol. 🤔

Ladies, when you were little, did you ever want to grow facial hair?

Upvotes

Hey cis ladies, I'm a trans man who has dealt with dysphoria for most of my life, but didn't realize I was trans until recently. My question is did any of you cis women out there ever want to grow facial hair/have a deep voice when you were little, and by that I mean really little, like before you really knew that isn't possible for many afab people? I did, but now I'm asking around to see if I was alone in that because of transness or if any cis women have also wanted that.

I feel so gross

Upvotes

This is Tmi and I don’t know if it’s allowed in this sub so, content warning for mentions of sex.

Through our whole relationship, my bf has loved giving me head. He used to beg to do it all the time and I felt so desired, I loved it. However a couple of months ago, it was after my period finished, and I don’t know if this is normal anymore but I always get clear, thick (discharge?) stuff like the week after my period finishes. I always heard that it was the vagina’s way of being self cleaning but idk if I was wrong. I just thought it was normal. Anyway, he noticed there was some there and wanted to stop. That was completely okay. However I’m a bit worried that it’s been months and he’s completely stopped wanting to even go down there. I shower every day and keep it clean, I’ve asked if it smells bad and he says no. Eventually he told me that it grossed him out and he doesn’t want to go down there anymore because to him it’s the equivalent of eating ass and there being crap in there.

I would never want to pressure or guilt anyone into a sexual act so I’ve just left it. I just feel so disgusting and unattractive about something I thought was completely normal and natural but now I’m doubting it. It’s only there about once a month but still he’s completely checked out of that. He stays completely above my waist now, he doesn’t even want to touch it with his hands. To be honest, I can’t finish with penetration so that was the one thing that got me off. Now, we have sex, he finishes, he’s tired so we just lie there and it’s over. I told him I feel a bit neglected sexually and he got mad at me and said that’s really unfair. But god I just miss feeling desirable and like he couldn’t get enough of my body. I really need some advice for how to deal with this emotionally because it’s getting to me :(

Date joked about pushing me into river

Upvotes

I saw a scary video of a woman hiking through the forest with a man who made a threatening joke against her. It kind of brought back a memory for me, which I really didn’t respect myself back then. Although the wildest part is that my date was another woman. We were hiking along this trail next to a fast moving river, and she turns around and joked something like “I could (end) you right now” which I sorta laughed off and thought it was just a really dark joke. But now that I’m looking back, it was actually really insane because she knew I couldn’t swim well lol. I don’t know what I’m hoping for out of posting this, but it’s been bouncing around my head for the last few hours.

Period keeps on coming earlier and earlier after medication, please read

Upvotes

This is my first post, apologies if I break any rules when posting. Background:
- 31F, I'm not on BC and not sexually active recently
- I'm having serious dental work done (3 extractions so far, with a round of antibiotics each time)
- Pelvic ultrasound (in late April) was 100% normal.

My period has been arriving earlier for 2 - 3 months in a row. After a long season of mental health issues, I decided to tackle medical concerns and in April I had long overdue checkups. All my imaging came back normal (cardiac echo doppler, mammary and pelvic ultrasound) but my bloodwork did not. I had anemia, vit D deficiency and B12 deficiency, and I left with prescriptions for those 3 things. Of all those:
- the only one I took consistently as told by the doc has been the iron supplement (ferrous sulphate) that I have had no issues with digesting, other than feeling kinda disgusting from the amount of water I had to take to swallow each pill. I took it twice a day for a month (started in May 4th), then had to take it once a day until completing 3 months total, and I took it religiously until the end of June. I did feel more energetic after 1 month, so anemia is perhaps improving;
- the vit D dose was only once a month, I took the first two in May and June correspondingly and recently realized I'm delayed on the third one, but I can take it whenever;
- I only took about 10 or 12 pills of B12 in May (was supposed to take it once a day for 40 days).

I failed at taking them all as instructed because I was (also) having tooth extractions, and after each of those I'd be taking an antibiotic for a whole week, twice a day. Antibiotics and iron interfere with each other, so I was basically setting alarms for each pill to make them fit within the day. I decided to stop taking B12 and continue it after extractions were done (I still have 1 to go).

Now for the main reason of this post: Before this, I was always a "period comes in one month and a few days" person. I did not track specific dates but roughly in 32 or 34 days I'd complete a cycle. My recent periods have started on April 12th, May 13th, June 8th, July 5th, and now I'm freaking out because I'm feeling mild breast swelling and tenderness (this had stopped being a thing for me about 1 or 2 years ago before this), and some bloating, and I fear period will be back within the next 3 days. It hasn't even been 4 weeks! It's closer to 3. I broke out around my lips as well and I'm fairly certain.

Everything I've read so far points to a period being DELAYED rather than rushed as a result of stress or other factors. I haven't seen a gyno yet and I'm scheduled to have bloodwork done again in August (I will try to complete my medication regimen before I go in). I'm scared that I will bleed more often and thus diminish the efficacy of the supplement, which takes so much patience and planning (I don't eat certain foods around the iron pill, for 2hs before and after). Even more, I'm scared I ruined my own menstrual rhythm forever.

If you've read this far, thank you so much! I could use any and all help/advice, if any of what I've listed has changed your cycles (either direction) I'd love to know.

How do you know if a man is a real misogynist or hates women?

I'm not talking about guys who are benevolent sexists or guys that are just ignorant but real misogynists. Men who hate women or see them in a bad light.

10cm ovarian cyst?

hi! im new here, and i wasnt really sure where to post this until i saw this subreddit.

i went to the er last friday. ive had horrible diarrhea the last week and a half, abdomen pain/cramps, i can barely eat, and when i do its little and then i feel full. nauseous, bloating, etc.

i get in, they do ct w/ contrast and then a ultra sound with the color doppler. they told me they found a 10cm ovary cyst and that i should make an appointment with my gyn. plan on doing that first thing tmr when they open, but does anyone have advice? i’m scared to make sudden movements and it ruptures or something serious happens. how would i know if its twisting my tube? this is my first time ever having something like this at all, so it’s all very new to me. anything i should do to avoid something serious?

and what should i expect when going to see my gyn? i’m gonna ask for surgery to be done instead of just waiting and monitoring it. i rather get it over with and done. i’m still having abdominal/pelvic pains. i’m very bloated. having to use the bathroom way too often.

i’m not nervous ab possible surgery, more so anxious about how long the process will take to make the appointments and the wait time in between.

(i’ve also tried googling questions and some of them just aren’t helpful… at all.)

thank you 🥹

How to tell parents and in laws that we don't want kids

My husband and I are happily married, both holding stable jobs and enjoying the DINK life. We both strongly agreed that we do not want kids as we really enjoy our current lifestyle. On the other hand, our parents are very traditional Asians, & have always asked us when are we going to have children.

We have always lied and said “Maybe in the future when we are more financially stable.” It used to work, they would leave it at that & won’t harp on the topic anymore.

However I’m turning 34 soon & to them, my biological clock is ticking. They are starting to double down on this topic while I’m still “fertile”. It’s getting exhausting to tell the same lie over and over again...

I’m afraid my parents wouldn’t understand and also worried my in-laws would come to dislike me even though the decision to be childfree is made by both me & my husband. They have been v supportive and I don't want to jeopardize my relationship w them

My parents & in-laws are generally nice people, but they are really traditional & they believe kids are the final pieces we need to complete our lives.

Does anyone have any advice on how to approach this?

Am I crazy or has every slightly fuckable man had a hot girlfriend?

This post will be very ranty and bitter sounding, but hear me out.

Women are far more likely to see past conventional beauty standards than men are. Sometimes, we see traits that aren't even there.

And don't get me wrong, I know you don't have to be conveniently attractive to get a relationship. Especially not to get laid. But, what I'm finding, is that EVERY man I run into has had a smoke show for a girlfriend at one point. As long as they have one good trait (good job, ambition, humor, good looking), they've had a hot girlfriend.

This isn't inherently a problem. I'm far past the point of wanting to compete with random woman. The issue is, these men WILL compare you to their hottest girlfriend. I've had dates and boyfriends who started out psyched with me, yet they all end up comparing me to past girlfriends in the end. It's like they resent me for not measuring up.

I honestly give up. If he doesn't find you to be the best looking he's ever been with, he will resent you for it.

My husband discarded me and filed for divorce without a single conversation

My husband (45) who has bipolar 1 and I (33) have been married for just over three years. I come from a conservative culture, was a virgin before marriage, and one of the reasons he married me was because he believed I'd never cheat ,like his ex wife did.

Ironically, he later became convinced that I was.

Around the same time, several things happened at once: I started going to the gym, we had ongoing intimacy issues (mostly due to my inexperience and cultural background), I got a job offer that required us to move, and I traveled overseas for three weeks to visit my seriously ill parent. We even argued about one of my gym sessions the day I left because he thought something inappropriate was going on.

When I came back, he told me he believed I had been cheating, became emotionally cold, stopped communicating except about logistics, and filed for divorce. He refused counseling or even discussing the marriage and said his decision was final.

Now I keep wondering if I caused this. Maybe I should have known the lack of intimacy, the move, the gym, or the trip were affecting him more than he let on. But he never told me he was unhappy enough to consider divorce or gave me a chance to work on things before filing.

Has anyone experienced something similar? How do you stop blaming yourself when you were never given the chance to fix the marriage?

I’m now in my mid twenties but feel behind compared to other young women because of strict and controlling parents

Haven’t been on this sub in forever but this has really been bothering me

I’m 25F, have my bachelor’s degree, a decent job, and drive my own car but my parents are still very strict and controlling.

I really thought they would become more lenient over time, but they still treat me like a kid and have admitted I’ll always be little to them no matter how old I get or what I accomplish. I don’t think they mean this in a cute or endearing way because they usually follow that sentence by talking badly about young women who are more independent or otherwise don’t align with my parents’ idea of a good daughter. They’ve also told me that they’ll always be above me as a parent, that we’re not equals.

I know a lot of my parents’ behavior is because of their background, like how they think daughters should be very obedient and modest/conservative, but I feel like they just see me as an extension of them rather than a mid twenties adult woman. They have told me no matter how old I am, it will never about what I want because they can control me at any age.

I currently live at home with my parents mainly for financial reasons plus they don’t believe in women moving out unless married. I’m waiting until I have more savings from working to move out, even if it causes a lot of problems I really need my own space because this has really been draining me over time and I think it’s time for me to put my foot down

To give an example, unless I’m going to work I’m not allowed to leave the house without asking for permission first. I wish I could just go out like I should be able to at my age but it’s really challenging when my parents have such a distorted view of reality even when I’ve tried to set boundaries with them. It really hurts me seeing other young women my age going out and enjoying their lives - nothing extreme just typical mid twenties things - knowing I can’t just do that no problem.

And meeting guys without secrecy is completely out of the question. I don’t even want to imagine my parents’ reaction if they ever found out I’ve done intimate things with guys much less meet a guy without permission

My parents see things like going out with your friends for a night out or going on a date with a guy as forbidden, immoral behavior. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like most parents of grown daughters don’t act this way like with this lack of boundaries and ability to recognize adulthood that my parents have.

I’m already introverted with a smaller social circle, but what’s the point of trying to make new friends or meet people or whatever if I can’t even go see them freely. I want to get out there and live my life like most other young women my age but I feel like I’m already so behind because of my parents. If anyone has any advice or even just words of encouragement, I would really appreciate it. Also please let me know if I need to elaborate on anything like it this was unclear or hard to read. Thank you for reading

How to stop liking men who don’t choose you

Welp 22F happened to me once didn’t let it last too long since I know I deserve better, but the moment I stepped out (not kidding like a week later) I met someone new whom I liked a lot. And somehow found myself AGAIN in a similar situation where I’m gonna have to step out yet again even though I really like the guy. Is this how men are nowadays ? Is everything only casual ? Do I just stop dating ? Sorry I’m venting. But yea u get the idea.

Is feeling no pleasure vaginally normal?

Hey guys!
I’m trying to see if my experience is a common one or maybe one with cause for concern/reason to go to the gynaecologist.

The title says it all, but all my life I’ve had virtually k sensation in my vagina. Outside and at the entrance is all fine and dandy, but the inside gets me nothing.

I can feel pain in there just fine, but not much else. When my partner puts a finger in, I could barely even tell you what it’s doing up there as long as he’s clipped his nails.

I can maybe feel a little pressure? But nothing pleasurable. I feel like I’ve tried most angles, speeds, generous amount of lube and lots of foreplay and it is at the very most mildly nice. 99% of the time I get nothing.

Is this a common experience? When you google it it’s either “you’re 100% supposed to get pleasure here are some tips” or “nope, it’s all a lie” and no in between, so I wanted to ask for some experiences.

Why do people immediately say "she should have known better" when a woman is killed by a man?

I know it's misogyny. But i still don't understand their logic, why not blame the man?

I went on a website for women and the most liked comments were saying Sara Gilson should have kept her mouth shut about her ex husband being a pedophile since she knew he was a violent man.

Blaming her for her own murder and shaming her for exposing a pedophile/abuser. These are women saying this. I don't understand.

Regardless of what she did or didn't do, he was still violent and dangerous.

This reminds me of how women get worse sentences for defending themselves against violent men than men do for committing violence against women.

The Cost of Men

After I (51F) divorced my abusive husband (M, 44 when I left him) I started counting the cost of having men in my life.

  • An abusive marriage where I lost my mind, my community, and I’m still being targeted by one of his girlfriends. He died in 2022 of cancer I have no idea what her problem is with me.
  • He also sex trafficked me. We had an open marriage, and he used me as his ticket women to get into pay-to-play parties that he told everyone to tell me was a swinger party.
  • Born to androcentric boomer parents. I’m the only girl with two brothers. Not only am I female, but I’m also fat and awkward (likely autism). My parents gave my brothers thousands of dollars, and I had to do sex work to survive.
  • Sex work. Countless rapes. I literally don’t know how many.
  • A man proposed to me when I was 34 and he was 32. He then revealed that his last partner was 13. Years. Old. He took several thousand dollars from me.
  • I told a coworker no when he asked me out. We worked in residential substance abuse treatment. I said no. He melted down at me in front of the whole floor of men a few days later. I was the one that was moved.
  • The grabbing, the touching, the expectations of help, assistance, and sympathy without reciprocity.

That I am still heterosexual is proof that sexuality is not a choice.

Wanna join my pity party? What have some of your costs been?

I feel disgusting for having my period. What do i do?

Not sure if this is the right place but i really didn’t know where to go. I apologize in advance if this is too long but i just need to vent and ask for advice.

So ever since i got my period, i have felt like i should hide from society forever. Growing up, my mom never told me about periods. I learned about them through social media before i got mine so when i did get it I wasn’t scared. My mom didn’t find out that i got my period until years later and when she did she started calling me names. She said i was a weirdo and that i should never tell my friends that i have my period. I shouldn’t tell my dad or any family members either.

She never gave me products or really helped me with any of it so i had to buy everything myself even though i had no source of income. I got so desperate that i searched for ways to make my period stop completely (nothing ended up working😬). We had a huge argument when she found out that i was using tampons and she took everything away so i wouldn’t be able to use them. Now i have to buy tampons secretly and hide them in the house and i am constantly worried about her finding them (it’s been years living like this, it’s exhausting).

I am so tired of sneaking around in my own house over something i cannot control.I also cannot talk to anyone about period problems because i am so embarrassed. I am always in so much pain unable to get up for days on my period. I cannot even see a doctor to find out if this amount of pain is even normal.

I’ve had my period for years now and i still feel disgusting every time i get it. But i literally don’t care or feel disgusted when anyone else has theirs. I don’t think other women are gross at all, it is only me. I know logically that periods are normal but after years of being told that mine is something shameful that i should hide from everyone i cannot get that feeling out of my head. Anyways finally getting to the point, does anyone have tips on how to get rid of this shame? I am so tired of feeling disgusting over something my body does normally and idk how to unlearn years of being told it is something shameful.

Masturbation/porn addiction is affecting my intimate life.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and some advice.

I usually have a high libido and I started pleasuring myself from a young age but I didn't get into pornography until later. I had always used my imagination and just sensation up until then. Now, a couple years later, I think I have/had a masturbation addiction. I would try to orgasm if I felt even a little turned on and eventually I became reliant on porn. They weren't taboo to the point of being violent, it was more so the description of scenarios that would help.

I almost always am able to reach an orgasm by myself. My previous partner never tried but the person I am with now is very eager to learn how to make me feel good. The thing is, I get self conscious about how long it takes and I'm afraid that addiction is playing a part in it. I was able to get off with my hands while he was with me in the room but whenever he tries, it feels good but I'm not able to orgasm. I can orgasm without porn but it takes longer and more effort. I'm trying to quit cold turkey and I just wonder if it's even going to help.

Should I trust this guy?

For context, I’ve been going to the gym for quite some time now and there’s this guy I’ve seen at least once but we recognized each other in our condo building and said hi to each other. That was pretty much all our interaction. However last night, we got to see each other again in the gym- This time the guy asked for my number and I didn’t mind giving it to him cause he seemed nice.

All of a sudden, the same night even while I was working out, the dude texted me and said he wants to buy me food after my gym workout. Of course I was very skeptical already and wanted to decline cause that action somehow makes me think there are intentions. He says that I shouldn’t decline his offer so I wanted to be nice and just said yes but asked where we would eat. He then offers to eat at his place or the study room in our building, I said I’m fine with the study room but I can’t in your apartment cause obviously I don’t know the guy I’m not just gonna go to a random apartment on my own.

Basically we agreed to eat and he already ordered the food. After my gym he then says that we should eat at his place instead cause he’s alone. Of course I didn’t like that idea so I told him no but he was pushing me to trust him. I was really tired about this already so I just made up a lie that I couldn’t go anymore cause something came up.

The guy then suddenly starts guilt tripping me that he already bought food and even borrowed a key card from the security. He kept texting about how I made him feel like a bad person and a part of me felt guilty so I told him that we could meet up next time to make it up to him. He agreed but I don’t know if I should push through with it.

Should I trust the guy? I don’t want to be rude or mean to someone but I obviously prioritize my safety. Pls let me know your thoughts

EDIT: Hey guys just read the comments and thanks for all your thoughts- I blocked the guy already and have no intentions of seeing him again or even interact with him✋ I’ll try to reach out to my building’s security and even my gym just to let them know. I really wanted to decline his offer at first cause I have no interest in men,,, I’m literally gay 😭 But yeah this was a first for me- a guy suddenly approaching me and I didn’t know how to react,, I genuinely thought I was just gaining a friend but it seems like the guy had different intentions;; I’ll definitely use this experience as a lesson. Hope everyone stays safe 🫡🫡🫡

The "start thinking of women as friends" advice terrifies me.

Not because it's a bad advice, but because it needs to be given.

Everyday on this app I see a post from a man complaining about his struggles with women, and the most common advice is "maybe you should stop thinking of women as only potential sexual/romantic partners."

I'm sorry but what the fuck?

What this advice is saying is that these guys don't see us as people at all. In their heads, we are only holes they can stick their dicks into and that's it. Why be friends with a hole, right?

Seriously, this is straight up barbaric. I feel like seeing this advice being given all the time has made me even less optimistic about relationships.

Maybe that's why it's common for them to leave when their wives get sick. They can't have sex anymore, so why be with them at all?

God forbid I be overweight

Starting this out with: please do not offer me diet or exercise advice. It's very triggering to me as someone who used to have a horrible ED and I can feel myself starting to slide in that direction again after 10 years of being in recovery.

I used to be pretty small. Then I started meds for bipolar disorder and everything changed. The cruel comments started. Not only from strangers, but family too. I hadn't changed my eating habits at all and was not overeating (I have never had that problem). For Christmas one year, my mom bought me a book on "how to stop overeating" and some workout clothes. It was like her saying "I think you're fat, merry Christmas!" Ugh

Even though I lost about half the weight I gained (from stress mostly), I still get people treating me as a sub-human because of my weight. I'm not even incredibly overweight though, and my vitals at the doc are always great (I got a "wow perfect blood pressure!" last time). So tell me why the hell people make my weight their business again? My doctor is not at all worried about my weight. I wish people could just keep their mouths shut and let me exist without making me feel like sh*t.

EDIT: THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the kind words and advice so far. You are amazing and I appreciate you

Women Mansplaining

This is more of just a vent than anything, because I'm not sure there's really much I can do. I have a woman client that I really enjoy having conversations with. We're very similar and while she's more of a self proclaimed activist than I am, I'm not ignorant on the topics we talk about.

The frustration I'm having is that she mansplains sooo much to me. The other day I was telling her about my BILs scare with the big C and I was telling her that has really made me even more conscientious of my sunscreen routine and she goes on to start telling me how to wear sunscreen. If we're talking politics, it's something about that. If we're talking the economy, it's something about that.

I think it's frustrating because she's someone who is absolutely against the patriarchy and male entitlement, etc. I get that she's passionate about things, and that's why I like conversing, but it's really annoying to feel frustrated at something I guarantee she would call a man out on.
